  1. What I do is just go in for cleanings until I find a good dentist. That’s the interview. Fortunately, they are cheap to do. They act different with different people so I don’t think there is really just a good dentist. I went to a place last time and the dentist dropped the sharp instrument on my face. Lucky it did not fall on my eye. I did not go back for more serious work later. One thing I look for is the cleaning being rushed at all. That’s what I avoid. You don’t want someone who is rushed drilling on your tooth.
  2. Not really. People have their own lives. Plenty of opportunity to communicate with neighbors out by the pool or in other venues without having people know exactly which unit I’m in. It’s called setting boundaries on the personal life and not being an open book, something that has served me well. I extend it out to money matters as well. I don’t give out financial info, stuff on assets, etc. Look at that guy that got chopped up. Chances are they knew everything about the guy and he was an open book not keeping his mouth shut.
  3. The USA uses the e-visa website to apply. Pretty easy. Just register, upload documents and print out the visa online. Pay with your card. What’s the problem?
  4. Learn to not have sex all the time. Delay gratification awhile. It builds character and gives you an edge as a man. Being in a constant state of sexual satiation turns you into an unmotivated sponge. That’s why fighters don’t have sex during training or before fights.
  5. Question: What do you do? Answer: I don’t “do” anything. I’m retired!
  6. Great. So who cares? Use your laptop. Would do that probably anyway for large transactions.
  7. I say nothing to neighbors and avoid them if possible. Anything can be misinterpreted.
  8. It’s possible to date above you, not below you. What that means is your reaching for people to date that are more wealthy then you. It is possible.
  9. I had a constant problem with itching down into the ear and pain when pulling on the earlobe, etc. Pharmacy gave me some anti-fungal drops. Not sure if they worked, as the problem kept re-occurring. It was from putting my head under water in the condo pool! Fungus or bacteria in the water. Started using the pool with head always above water. No problems since. Some of the pools are not cleaned properly and widely used so be aware.
  10. Those morals are going away quick if you find yourself homeless though. People do whatever they need to to survive on the streets. Your choice may be choosing the lesser of two evils. There are gray areas, not all black and white.
  11. So your saying it becomes too comfortable because people are overly catering to you and you get lazy? Or, is it more like a depression and lack of willpower?
  12. I love the idea of getting a beer anywhere where the cap is left on and I pop it off myself. I feel like some of the bars are filling old bottles with the tap instead of popping a new beer. I got a "bad beer" that tasted awful the other night, flat and stale. So bad that I did not drink it, just left it there. It was one of those cheap places streetside on soi baukaow. That's very rare for a bottled beer, I think. Just more comfortable not having it open, people hands or fingers around the rim, etc. Or at least pop it off at the table which is never done, instead of in a back room somewhere. Always wondered why it's always opened in the back. Seems odd. May just be me being paranoid, but I also like it capped so someone does not slip something into the beer in a back room or over by the bar where I can't see.
  13. Interesting. What specifically was keeping you from leaving Pattaya?
  14. Your married. Find out what she’s angry about and work it out. That’s what therapy is for.
  15. Learn to like cats OR birds. All that crap gets in the water, I’m not swimming at your place.
  16. And stinky feet. The op wears plastic flip flops and eats rats.
  17. There’s some French guy that’s always in my condo pool. He keeps talking to everyone constantly and will approach you in the pool. Is there any to get him to shut up? I’m not comfortable being in the pool with him. It’s some European guy.
  18. Pension money only comes in once a month so it can’t all be spent. Otherwise there would be much more down and out pensioners in Pattaya at the homeless level.
  19. Most times I can tell if someone has an advanced degree without being told. There is something in the mindset and conversation that indicates they never made it further then elementary school.
  20. I did not say there was anything “wrong” with blue collar retirees and women of I’ll repute, it’s just my experience. My main motivation for posting is to give info so people considering a move know what to expect.
  21. I agree, in the USA they are called “blue collar” workers. Manual laborers basically, though some can be high paying skilled occupations. Pattaya attracts this sort of retiree. Not so much “white collar” retirees, which would be professionals with higher education and advanced degrees, typically. Something to consider.
