Expat dramas
It's not always deceit. More likely they CAN'T pay you back. That's why they ask in the first place, no money! A lot of people want to pay it back but can't get that job or whatever so it just turns into an avoidance issue.

Not if you are selling a dream to a newbie. The place looks and smells nice and they never notice how far from the street it is, or the realtor drives them in the back way so they don't see all the other bars in front.

I assume you don't help everybody you meet. What did you see in this particular person that made you want to help him?

That's not really a small amount, its around $700 usd. Ask that guy nicely next time you see him, maybe he forgot about it, figured you were wealthy and did not care, or was not able to contact you. He could have the money now and just pay you on the spot. A lot of people are not responsible, or just confused and flakey in general, so you have to pester and remind them to do things or it never gets done.

No wonder he never paid you back.

Goes without saying. No reason to associate with people you don't enjoy being around. It's called "adulting". Most of the problems I have encountered revolve around neighbors who I would not get involved with otherwise. People that you can't easily avoid or where there is some commonality that can't just be ignored.

German tourist’s night out in Pattaya turns into nightmare
Usually low life Thai's won't ask a foreigner to move a vehicle politely. They will say something abrupt or act erratic and weird in body language, then fly off the handle at the slightest hesitation or response. It's likely the German guy did not know what was going on before they went off the handle, or just thought the Thai's were being dicks without knowing it was about the parking space.

Seriously Injured Foreign Tourist Found in Vacant Pattaya Field
That area is a bit odd. Full of over priced eateries and such. It did not feel like Thailand to me when I went up there. More like people who would visit that mall nearby and then just return to a modern condo afterwards or visit the beach and pretend they were in Thailand. Hard to describe.

Can you stop talking in baby talk. That's why many Thai's can't speak correctly, because they hear foreigners talking like babies.

advise needed. visarun. got rejected on airport
Used to have that "walkabout bar" (closed now) and that beer complex down the street with meth addicts walking all over. I forget the name of that area, street 51 maybe. Not sure if you made it over there. Still that way, or worse now?

Begging for money online to support his bar.
Yeah, it's one of the ones in the middle like I thought, but a larger one. I think that's one that usually had a couple people in there when I walked by. Looks nice from the photo's but the location is not good because it's too far off the main street. People are walking by multiple bars that are all very similar before they get to that bar, so it would need a loyal crowd of regulars. Too bad it did not work out. Location most likely, and lack of customers in that area in general.

Usually partner means you buy in and share future profits, not that he pays you back. It sometimes means it is someone raiding the till, not that the bar is actually losing money.

Those ones on that center island are not even really meeting places. It's more just a place to buy a beer and leave. Or, stand around and have a short pool game while you drink your beer.

If you must.

Those on that center island are just a small bar counter, small pool table and a couple chairs. There are a bunch of others just a few feet away in a different section right next to you. The profit would be peanuts unless there were large crowds moving around.

Is it one of those small ones on that center island? I used to walk through there during the day and they were all closed, not even open for business, except one or two. I don't even think I could pull 500 baht a day running one of those as "everyone" just hits the two at the end near 2nd road.

There are some where you can live on the premisis. I saw one for rent for the same amount that I rent my condo for. It had a bathroom, sink etc. Seemed a reasonable arrangement, at the time, for someone who is retired. Live in a top or side room, close the gate and the bar area is your living room, open the front area as a small bar during the daytime, meet people, have fun. If nobody shows up no big deal, your there having a drink. It was tiny for a bar, but if you are living there it could work 🤷🏻♂️ since you would not really need to make a lot of money.

Need a moderate, low key and solid statesman this time to pull the country together. No more extreme candidates or the country divides further causing more problems.

How is Retirement treating you?
That's weird. It sounds like you are glaring & staring at people. I hope you don't come over without being invited first.
