Buying oil from Putin = supporting his evil regime = supporting the killing of children and the bombing of cities. If these are not your problem - then go ahead, do whatever you want. And the h*** with you. P.S. I know well that EU still buys from Putin. But they currently do whatever they can to reduce the dependency from the Russian gas and oil. To start buying it now, as some morally challenged people might consider - would be an act of crime against humanity.

Where did you get that definition from? And why not for “no cost” at all? In reality, sanctions are the measures preceding and , hopefully, preventing the possible war. Not less than that. And the cost of the sanctions might be whatever it takes to defeat the existential threat. It is the Putin’s main bet that the “spoiled” West will retreat and give up its values when facing the slightest inconveniences. Reading many posters at this forum, I start to suspect that his bet may eventually succeed.

It is not about Ukraine or any other country specifically. It is about respect for the international agreements and the principles of humanity. Because otherwise, when one day some country will attack Thailand for no apparent reason and will bomb their people to death - nobody will care too. This propaganda comedy was not really created for you and other sane Westerners. Let me explain you my vision of the internal Russian situation. There are 10-15 million people in Russia, the neo-pheudals, as I prefer to call them (consisting of all levels of government officials and the security forces of all types), who control all political and social life in the modern Russia. The level of the power they exert cannot be compared to that of any social group in the West. There was an option for these neo-feudals of Russia to reform their country 15-20 years ago and to become a Western type of democracy. But then, they would inevitably lose their extraordinary control on the rest of the Russian population. And there was another way, the way of deceiving, propaganda and brainwashing. The use of the Soviet time propaganda archetypes was a good idea and it worked out well. USA and NATO are evil. Democracy is a myth. Russia is a country of the unique civilization and should have its own way (which true direction was never really specified). By using these Soviet stereotypes, Putin, the Tsar, and his boyars try to keep the brainwashed population of 100+ mlns under their full control. And they do succeed at the moment. This game is all about control of the (relatively) small group of the Russian elite over the rest of the population. The war in Ukraine is just the mean to this end.

In 99% of cases people don’t get into trouble if they respect the agreements. I personally, was able to start my business 20 years ago with the help of loanshark’s loans (happened not in Thailand). Yes, you could. 10k an apartment, 5k for food (cooking at home), 5k other expenses and 20k for some kind of an entertainment. Quite possible. Things can change a bit, though, with the influx of foreigners at the end of 2022. But I don't expect this being a drastical change.
