  1. Surely your posting name should be Burma Old Bill based on your past occupation..... (not based on your age I hasten to add!) 555
  2. It is my mother's 80th birthday today. She has received a letter from the DWP advising that she will be receiving a 25 PENCE per week increase in her state pension for reaching this milestone. It probably cost a months worth of the increase just to notify her by post.
  3. The basic state pension first came about in 1948. As the DWP have stated that this rule has been in effect for over 70 years, it may have been incorporated at the outset. It probably would not have been an issue for the first couple of decades as not many people would have retired overseas. Now however, wholly unfair.
  4. I do not dispute that she got what she deserved. How though does this make her a 'typical' Brit? Idiotic post.
  5. They are much more likely to be smelling my fear from what has been deposited in the back of my shorts rather than from my bare leg....
  6. Permanently wear this outfit whenever you leave the house. I can guarantee they will be more scared of you than you are of them.
  7. Fantastic post, made me chuckle. 👍
  8. Wayne Rooney probably had a go with her Grandma.
  9. They might both be slags but they had enough common sense to both pick Brits over an Aussie.
  10. Other examples on Youtube but below seems to do the trick.
  11. I applied for a SETV via the UK website 2 weeks ago. I also noticed that very little required by the way of documentation compared to previous applications. No financials, no details of most recent visits etc. Had an initial issue regarding payment confirmation but that came through within a couple of hours. From applying to receiving the e-visa was 36 hours. Very happy with the process. I was first aware of the reduction in paperwork required around September last year but not sure when it was actually implemented.
  12. I do. LL opens the topic and then imparts on us all his infinite wisdom.
  13. If it was an unprovoked attack then probably not.
  14. His name is Rex. You can't get more dog friendly that that.....
  15. You forgot to mention that you can sit outside with a Russian family partaking in a picnic comprising of cheese and ham toasties and a half bottle of cheap vodka.
  16. School summer holidays going on for ever Why Don't You/Banana Splits/Arabian Knights on TV every morning of the school summer holidays Scrumping White dog poo (why was that?) Proper chips cooked in a chip pan Sunday Roast followed by cold meat and bubble 'n' squeak on a Monday night Bath on a Sunday night to get rid of the tide mark around your neck Snapittes (looked like they were in a rizla paper, made a bang when you threw them on the floor) Ice cream floats Sweet cigarettes Toffo's and Texan bar Holidays at the beach in a caravan or chalet Pink bubblegum (you could collect the coupons and order a pair of x-ray specs) Unigate Dairy (watch out, watch out there's a Humphrey about)
  17. secrete /sɪˈkriːt/ verb 1.conceal; hide:
  18. The perps upped their game a bit on their return visit.....
  19. Even with the faces blurred in the picture, they still look Asian and the leaders name is Samrit so I think you may be slightly off the mark with your assumption.
  20. I find the EVA premium economy seats quite a step up from their economy offering. I fly the UK-BKK-UK direct route 3 or 4 times per year always using EVA. I used to fly premium economy both ways but since Covid the round trip price has increased by around £400-£500. Now I tend to fly economy on the UK-BKK leg as the flight departs 9.30pm. Due to EVA reward status I am guaranteed a front row window seat with the extra legroom which makes it bearable. I normally have a good few scoops in the lounge beforehand, pop a pill at take-off and thankfully sleep for the majority of the journey. As the return from BKK departs lunchtime Thai time and arrives evening UK time I try not to sleep. I always book premium economy for this leg. The seats are noticeably larger and recline further than their economy offering. There is also a fairly substantial fixed arm rest/drinks holder between seats which eliminates the 'elbow wars'. Occasionally, I will use points to upgrade to Royal Laurel class on this leg which is an entirely different offering altogether. I would not part with my own cash though for Royal Laurel unless I was only flying maybe once per year.
  21. Agree. Don't hate the player, hate the game.
  22. Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking was a staple for me to get stoned to during the 80's along with Stand Up (Fat Man, Bouree, Look into the sun etc) by Ian Anderson/Jethro Tull. Brings back very happy memories. Thanks for reminding me!
  23. I have never requested a discount on drinks prices. However, there are three bars that I visit fairly regularly in Lamai, Samui (2 Thai owned, 1 Foreign owned) and have done so for many years. Two of them give me 20 baht below the list price on every beer. The other charges me happy hour prices regardless of the time of day which is a similar discount to the first two. Not asked for, they just view me as a loyal customer. Doesn't sound like a lot but is appreciated and adds up to a fair amount over time. I give it all back though by buying the bartender a drink or two on most visits (which I would do anyway without the discount).
  24. And possibly the best 'covers' album ever........
