The Win claims they agreed to 80 baht per person on one bike for a one km ride. 160 baht for 1.1km. No one cares about your two personal experiences with motorcycle taxis. They are totally irrelevant. The topic title is with concern to the ‘Win’ trying to get away with charging more than double the normal fare and then threatening the passengers with a knife in order to extort the outrageous charge.

That sounds about right for the short hop from CF to Soi 6, for a single passenger in a bike. 80 baht for two on a bike would be reasonable. It’s not like there are no other bikes around with the Win doing them a favour by saving them from waiting a long time for another bike to come free. It’s literally just to make more money per trip for the ‘Win’. So a discount for two passengers on a bike should be offered. 160 baht is a blatant attempt at a ripoff. It’s a 1.1km journey.

That means you have to choose from the three offered. The 1450 is for the Mi Stick. Likely 1750 for the Mi Stick 4K and 1990 for the Mi Box S(which is likely OOS anyway). Pay attention to these things if you are going to make recommendations.

I think you’ll find all prices there are for the sticks, regardless of what the picture shows… Stick is lower spec. Only 1GB of RAM.

We see passengers regularly loaded two to a single bike. When the potential customers complain and insist on separate bikes, they are quoted an even higher price. That is all part of the scam. There is no way that anyone but the uninitiated would imagine the price of a short ride from CF to Soi 6 on a single bike would be 160 baht. No one wants to sit squashed up three to a bike unless there is an attractive member of the gender to whom you are attracted involved. The Win is just carrying on the scam that is repeated in tourist centres throughout Thailand. I saw it first in the south of Thailand many moons ago and we would laugh and walk away from the riders who tried it on and simply flag down another bike. Of course the riders agreed to separate bikes immediately afterwards. But we noticed the newbies were regularly taken in by this, as they thought it was normal. Who wants to sit uncomfortably and pay the same price as a single bike?? These days there are threats of intimidation from the ranks, so a rider outside their rank dare not stop for a passenger near someone else’s rank. You clearly don’t have a clue as to what goes on. It’s a well worn scam.

They were actually outside Made In Thailand market as opposed to Central Festival. There is no need for increased prices. The increased frequency of fare paying customers covers their higher payments. Seems you are destined for the ignore list. There’s only so many ridiculous posts one can tolerate.
