  1. Most expats saw Thailand's retirement dream fading years ago and have left already. These are just last minute efforts to get rid of the rest of the Western expats. Nothing new. Just fleecing the remainder of the hanger oner's. You want our unbreathable air, poluted beaches, and city's. Pay the entrance fee , then as soon as you discover paradise is a scam it is to late.. LOL. They have your money and are laughing all the way to the bank. problem is the western men to be scammed is endless. Even with all the book from years ago to the endless internet folks warning against falling for the scams it seems to be on deaf ears.
  2. The PM's new and updated policy and the 10 steps. 1. One for you One for me. 2. One for you Two for me. 3. One for you Three for me. 4 One for you Four for me. 5. One for you Five for me. 6. One for you Six for me. 7. One for you Seven for me. 8. One for you Eight for me. 9. One for you Nine for me. 10. One for you Ten for me. And a one way ticket to Hong Kong.
  3. Personally I want consistancy in retirement. who in there right mind would retire from the US to Thailand now?
  4. As a dog lover this shows the Thai mentality. Anyone traveling in Thailand knows the millions of starving and dying dogs. It is frankly horrible. Thai's are the worst, period. The finest example of a country that loves its pets is Colombia. no dogs roaming the streets. And it is amazing how friendly they are. The people treat them as part of the family and you can tell. The dogs are well adjusted and extremely happy. Thailand and SE Asia is the armpit of the world IMHO.
  5. Now if huge demonistrations hit, the military will fire up the tanks, and we all know what will happen then.
  6. Personally I am waiting for the scheme to develop. One way or another this clan will find a way to pocket boat loads of money. Curious to see how it will develop
  7. My understanding of the tax treaty with the US is, if you file in the US then it will be sent to Thailand if requested. So, if any capital gains and you file , or any other income and you file. Thailand will know it . You will not be able to escape. Unless you are already there, have ponied up the 800K, just suck it up and pay. If not avoid Thailand as a retirement home. I get bombarded daily on the internet with retire in Thailand and buy these high priced villas, etc. Can you imagine the tax burden put on these folks once they get settled. Leasing the land that will revert back to Thailand, no medical or legal help in Thailand., no rights to speak of. Really they are just trolling for newly retired idiots. People that sell out in the US that have a pocket full of money.
  8. Wow, I thought you guys said it was not going to happen? Hard to get my head around taxation with out any benefits what so ever. I need to visit the Philippines before all you guys invade... haha. That will be the Philippine woman's wet dream... Ha..
  9. He better watch it or the Military might just throw Him and the new PM out again.
  10. Asked my Thai GF about this and she got pretty upset. She said she was completly faithful. In her words she would never be unfaithful to either me, or her Thai husband that she married in her teens. And I believe her.
  11. I had my dental work done in South America. I tried Thailand, but was not impressed. But, it will be huge. I save thousands just with a plane ticket, and a nice vacation. Another reason I didn't like Thailand is the long plane ride. From the US I can hop a plane and arrive several hours later in the same time zone. And a biggie for me was the polution. Here I can breath the air and live a western life style on the cheap. And my dental work was going to take over a year to complete. So it was a no brainer for me.
  12. I agree it is not right for a teacher to take a child to his condo. Reading this I am sure the police have more evidence than just holding hands and a hug?
  13. Just give the 12 million tourists life jacks and stick an Apple tag on them.. It will be fine.
  14. I would think this is just a clickbait post. China is one of the most open and honest countries in the world.. haha
  15. I guess because I click on this site I get bombarded with adds like this. But, aimed at the US market. Buy your dream home in Thailand daily? Thai's promoting it to rip off foreigners. They are usually bundled with the Thai Elite visa scheme. So I assume it the government promoting it.
  16. You released to much water and flooded Thailand, what do you have to say for your self.. NO we did not! Ahh ok, just asking..
  17. I thought I had heard it all, new one on me.
  18. Good guys in bad guys out... Kinda backfiring on them. Now it's bad guys in good guys out.
  19. He is in a pretty sweet position, hard to believe the military let this happen. Amazing
  20. Food poisoning several time in SE Asia. Mostly Thailand. When traveling. Horrible
  21. I know how she feels! When I was there after a session I would try to leave and the women would get mad and physically assault me. Its a curse.. 🙂. Either that or they were pushing me out and slamming the door.
  22. Baby boomers taking their money out of the market, Re-shoring at a neck breaking rate. It takes a tremendos amount of capital to re-shore. Inflation will be with us for a few more years IMO. Curious to see what the fed's will do next month. But all the Americans on here that hate America will always hate. Truth is the stock market is at all time highs, beating all other countries as far as I know. I find it very comical with all the US citizens complaining that the sky is falling , when it is off the charts in the US " as in growing like crazy ". I live overseas at least 6 months a year because I am retired and it is much cheaper, and much more enjoyable. If I were still in my working age years. There is no other place in the world I would rather be than the USA.
  23. I'm 72 and forget where I park all the time. Never been a problem, but I forget. I have gotten to where I take a pic if in a huge lot or in a city I have never been to before.
  24. I live in and grew up in Texas. Not sure how it would go down, but Thailand better be glad the Mexican gangs are not there. Probably end up a turf war with murders daily. Last time I was in Pattaya I was walking , late evening. And the Russian bar owners and thugs reminded me of the Mexican cartel.
