Would the next government be kinder to migrants and refugees?
HuskerDo2 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
WOW! Sounds like you have issues with tourists. Too bad as that's the group Thailand tries to cater to so they can keep the country running. As far as San Fran... that's the sewer of the US these days. My friends in California are either hating it or moving elsewhere. -
Would the next government be kinder to migrants and refugees?
HuskerDo2 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
A better question would be... would the next government be kinder to retirees and tourists and not make them jump thru so many hoops to live/visit Thailand where they are contributing to the economy unlike the migrants and refugees. -
Yes, true. I was stunned when checking on health insurance costs to live full-time in CM. Living in my homeland and just visiting CM each year was the best solution. I live a far better life here with better quality of everything. Of course, everyone has their own priorities and interests so it's an individual decision. For me tho, it's cheaper to live where I do and my life isn't disrupted one bit and I can spend a month or two every year in CM when the air is clean.

Sounds like a rather greedy comment. Actually, it's in the PATIENTS interest to be kept alive as long as possible. To "bleep" with the inheritance. The man earned the money by working hard all his life. No one "deserves" an inheritance. If the man's hard-earned money keeps him alive for one more day then spend it. If the daughter doesn't like it then she really doesn't love her father anyway.

Quite the "family oriented" country they are advertising these days. They didn't gain any more single male tourists with this announcement but most likely lost a lot of families who will take their money elsewhere. They should have just left it at status-quo and kept it out of the headlines. They weren't enforcing any current rules anyway.

Cambodia to deport 19 Japanese cybercrime scam suspects

Why would they deport them so they can renew their criminal activity? Leave them in jail for 25 years where they belong. -

"I never understood the ones who worked all their life amassed a reasonable sum and then end up giving it to someone else".... well Charlie, the intent was never to amass too much only to give it away. Instead, in my case, I never knew how much I'd need when I got to this point in life or the lifestyle I'd want. I saved with only me in mind and not charities. Now that I am where I am in life I'm very comfortable and it gives me great pleasure to make others lives comfortable too even if it's just a little more comfortable for them. -

Interesting thought. I, like a few others here, have travelled a lot. 15 different countries. Not much interested in travelling any more. I'm content in life. Retired at 59 after working 49 years. Yes, I started at age 10 with a paper route and never stopped until I did. Had a very successful career in I.T. but one day I walked into the office and just told myself enough was enough. Turned in my resignation and since I was in a very sensitive job they chose to let me walk that day and paid me for the next 3 months. Best decision I ever made but after working for 49 years I wanted to relax. I never get bored. Never think about returning to the workforce. Life is good. I buy whatever I want and still only spend 2/3 of my income. I cut my siblings off years ago as they asked for money too often. These days I give to a few charities near where I live. I see first hand how much it helps them. My only desire for travel is to Thailand and the Philippines each year. I have good friends in both places. My health is good and I expect to be able to make those trips for many many years into the future. If I had known my life would be this good at this age when I was younger I would have been ecstatic as I am today.- 218 replies

"one shop I was using had been overcharging me for goods and even charged me for delivery twice".... are you sure it was just one? Many do the same be it restaurants, taxi/transport services, hospitals, after hours private doctor visits, etc. Trust no one but if it's just a small overcharge just let them have it. Not worth the hassle of having your food spit in the next time you order.

So many fools in this world. He could have gotten a job and tried to make something out of himself but instead decides to be lazy and try to make a living hauling drugs around the world. Now that he'll be in prison for many years, the only guarantee he has is that "bubba" will be visiting him every night for his daily "bend over" session. One less stupid person on the streets is good for everyone else.

How high is your blood pressure that you take medication
HuskerDo2 replied to steveb5's topic in Health and Medicine
I take my BP daily at home and it can be as low as 108/66 or as high as 132/84. Depends on different factors like am I stressed? Have I just eaten? Have I consumed caffeine? I was told by a doctor that home BP machines don't work all that well after a year or so. He said if it looked high at home to have the BP checked by a doctor and make the adjustments for the at-home machine. He said if it's below 130 (systolic) you are fine but to keep an eye on it. -
"people didn't understand the most basic natural phenomena is not worthy of respect."... you are wrong. EVERYONE is worthy of respect. Except for people like you who don't believe so. "In the end, everyone is right... or wrong." Nonsense."...... You'll find out if it's nonsense one way or the other seconds after you take your last breath. Good luck with that.

Thai politicians reminded of the rules of campaigning
HuskerDo2 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
The fact that they need to be "reminded" is rather telling. On the other hand, rules are made to be broken. Especially when it comes to politics and elections in Thailand as well as the RTP and so many other govt entities. -
Work-from-home order issued as Thai city tops world pollution table
HuskerDo2 replied to ozimoron's topic in Chiang Mai
I think it's time to change the meaning of LOS from Land of Smiles to Land of Smoke. It's so sad that the govt has had so many opportunities over the years to clean this nasty air up yet they sit with their thumbs up their rear-end. Their thumbs are easier to sniff than the air these days. -
WOW! An honest businessman. Not the norm these days. They will get my business whenever I'm in town. Love it!!!

PM Urges For Unity and Peace Ahead of Election
HuskerDo2 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
" In an interview on April 5, the Prime Minister emphasized the significance of unity and peace, warning that neglecting to prioritize them would result in Thailand losing many opportunities on international stages."... He must be referring to the Miss Universe pageant.
