  1. You obviously can't read. I said If we fine ourselves in a situation like the 1930. The clue is not what is happening today, but what could happen when fiat is so devalued you might need a wheelbarrow full of cash to go shopping.
  2. That comment proves you are no investor. Even if you think you are!
  3. And by the sounds of it neither do you. If we have a 1930's situation where you need a wheelbarrow full of paper money to buy a loaf of bread. As happened in Germany. Do you really think he is going to watch his investments go to zero? But hey, It's a free world, only just. It's your right to throw your money away!
  4. Like I said, You really think he won't cash out when the time comes. Or is he going to give you a heads up that he is selling? Not bloody likely!
  5. You think Buffet won't cash out when the time comes. Think again?
  6. fixed or manipulated is all the same thing. By the time you are able to react to a price movement, it's all over. You are playing against some pretty big players. Joe public doesn't stand a chance.
  7. until they are not! ETF's will be the first to crumble when the recession hits.
  8. why would I trade physical gold like an ETF? Gold is a hedge against the stupidity of governments printing money. besides the gold price is fixed by the London and Chicago metals exchanges. And when they are not able to fix that price, is when the fun really starts. I don't fancy your chances of getting your cash out when the.
  9. That is the problem trading gold ETF's from Thailand! What happens when people want to cash out of ETF's. Another missed opportunity! Physical gold is the way to go.
  10. In case you hadn't noticed, other countries are dumping the dollar and buying gold. That is to protect their own currencies. Not to mention they will probably create CBDC's. So, hopefully what happens in the USA won't effect the world. There will not be a WW3.
  11. For 40 baht, I doubt the vendor would be that desperate to take a few links from a chain for payment. At least a baht brick is hallmarked. show me a chain where each link is hallmarked? On another level, lets hope it never gets that bad that you have to barter gold for goods. Besides those 40 baht shoes might be more like 40,000 baht shoes at that stage!
  12. That is a really bad idea considering you pay more for jewellery, compared to baht bricks. The OP would be better buying small bricks of less that 1 baht weight. though 1 baht bricks are an ideal size. Take a look at Aurora website.
  13. Wise is just a currency transfer service. Even if you have multi currency accounts with them, Any tax due would be down to where you reside. Or where funds originated from. As far as I know they have no, on or off shore designation as they are not a bank. Depending on transfer type, between currencies, you get a reminder that you must pay taxes if due.
  14. You would need a work permit. Your Spouse visa is not relevant. You do not need to cancel one to get the other.
  15. I didn't believe it either when I was first told.
  16. Forbes Dawson Tax specialists:- Non-UK resident individuals can choose for their UK sourced investment income, including dividends and interest, to be disregarded for UK tax purposes. This so-called ‘disregarded income’ can then be received free from UK income tax. Under the Statutory Residence Test, special split year treatment rules apply where individuals move overseas mid-way through the tax year, either because they, or their partner, are starting full-time work abroad, or where they cease to have a UK home. Where the split year rules apply, the individual is treated as becoming non-UK resident on the date they leave the UK, with the tax year split into a UK part (prior to departure) and an overseas part (after departure).
  17. My understanding is you need a uni degree just to work as a checkout girl for Lotus's!
  18. From Thai Vat! Here are some important points to remember: At the time of purchase When purchasing the goods, the tourist must present his/her passport and ask the store to issue a VAT Refund Application for Tourists form (P.P.10) along with the original tax invoice/s for the purchase. The passport number must be correct on the form. *In the case of consumable goods, these must be sealed along with the message ‘No Consumption Made While in Thailand’. At the airport when departing Thailand The purchased goods, of which the total value must be 5,000 Baht or more, must be presented along with the VAT Refund Application for Tourists form and original tax invoice/s to a customs officer for inspection before check-in. In the case of luxury goods (jewellery, gold, ornaments, watch, eyeglasses, pen, mobile or smart phone, laptop or tablet, handbag, and/or belt) of which the value is 10,000 Baht or more per item, and carry-on goods of which the value is 50,000 Baht or more per item, these must be hand carried and showed again at the VAT Refund for Tourists Office after passing through immigration. At the VAT Refund for Tourists Office, if the refund amount is not over 30,000 Baht with insurance for the tax refund amount, the payment will be made in cash (Thai Baht). The refund can also be claimed by post to the Revenue Department of Thailand, or by drop-box in front of the VAT Refund for Tourists Office at the airport, and at the downtown refund office locations.
  19. Your idiot accountant is 100% correct. Unless you have income of more Than 12,500 you do not pay tax. Dividends or interest on savings do not count as income.
  20. There are companies that will inspect a new build and check everything is as it should be. But I have no idea where to find them. there are Thai FB pages that talk about this. Get you Thai wife/girlfriend to search FB.
  21. Are you on a commission from the agent. He doesn't need to use an agent.
  22. I would check that. I think it needs to be in an account 2 months before and three months after you get the new extension! If you were on a marriage extension, you would be right about 2 months prior.
