ATS working in manual only ( No auto)
asf6 replied to Pink7's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
Thanks. Another interesting thread where I learnt something new. ✔️ -
I have had my battery replaced at a Samsung service centre (not in Pattaya). If I recall correctly, it cost 1000 baht for the battery plus they added a service charge of about 500 baht. They had to order the battery so they ordered one and called me a few days later when it arrived. I returned to the Service centre the next day and they did it on the spot. When they replaced the battery, they took the SIM card out and gave it to me in a plastic bag so I had the SIM all the time. The funny thing was that they said they'd call me when the phone was ready. Made me laugh as they had my phone but next time I'll take a spare phone with me, or just hang around in the Service centre while they change the battery. Also, as the phone battery is designed to be non-replaceable (by the customer) they sealed the phone up again afterwards.

Was it an LPG station? That seems to be the norm when topping up LPG.

Making your way in the world today takes everything you've got. Taking a break from all your worries sure would help a lot. Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name and they're always glad you came. The OP needs to find a place like that. A place you can escape to and exit at your whim, where discussions in your native language can be had easily, and bar-stool psychoanalysis comes for free. Go out and enjoy your life, OP. Cheers. ☺️

Umm. I'll go out on a limb here and say that it's unlikely that "most" Thai-farang relationships feature in-depth conversations about anything and everything. I could be wrong though. For sure my wife and I discuss numerous in depth topics daily. For example, what's for lunch and dinner feature highly. Which restaurant or coffee shop to visit next is a popular topic. The weather crops up regularly, as does shopping. We discuss music sometimes (Thai and English); songs, keys, chords, etc. Politics gets a very occasional mention. When my wife is watching dramas or scrolling Facebook, I do things that I want to do that don't involve her. Win-win. ????

Only you can decide what is best for you, but here's a suggestion from me. Stick around. Be a father to your daughter. Speak English to her. Try to help your wife improve her English. Learn Thai to reduce the language barrier with your wife. Enjoy your hobbies. Enjoy the fact that your wife has hobbies. Try to find something in your lives that you both enjoy and spend more time doing that. Be proud of your achievements. Be proud of your daughter. Imagine the life you would want for her and try your best to make that outcome come true. Good luck.

France Donates Over a Million Doses of Booster Vaccine to Thailand
asf6 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
My understanding was that the number had to have 13 digits to match the Thai ID card system of numbering. The computer system wouldn't accept anything else. My passport number only had nine digits so they created a new number for me with 13 digits. -
I was comparing prices of flights back to the UK yesterday using both price comparison sites and airlines' own sites. The airlines' own sites were marginally cheaper than the comparison sites. The flights on both were still more expensive than I expected, though. When I book, it will definitely be with the airlines own website.

The ID number they gave to me for vaccination has 13 digits and the first one is a zero. -
Chinese tourists warned not to embroider school names on student uniforms
asf6 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Yes, that's it. It's common to do that in Thailand when taking photographs, especially group photos. They often say "Little heart" to let everyone know what to do before taking the photo. -
Yes, there are 2 licences - 1 for a car and 1 for a motorbike. You can I apply for both at the same time. If I recall correctly, it is the same paperwork for both, but you have to make two applications and there's a different price for each one. If you need to do a computer test, you may also have to take the same test twice, one for each licence. That's what I had to do anyway.

Chinese tourists warned not to embroider school names on student uniforms
asf6 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
It's all about the intention. "If an individual, who is not a student, wears a student uniform to mislead other people into believing that he or she is a student may violate the law and may face a fine of up to 1,000 baht on conviction." No intention to mislead, officer. Honest, guv. -
Help understanding power generation and usage
asf6 replied to statman78's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
Hi Statman, Interesting graphs. Here's what I learned from them. 1) Your solar cell system has a maximum output of 4kw, which it achieved at around midday. 2) Your solar cell system produced electricity for about 12 hours and nothing for about 12 hours. 3) The amount of electricity it produced between 6.30am and 6.30pm averaged about 2kw for those 12hrs, so approximately 24kwh, which compares to the yield stated on the graph (24.71kwh). 4) From 6.30pm to 6.30am, you consumed about 10 kwh of energy - 6kwh from 6.30pm to midnight and 4kwh from midnight to 6.30am. Interesting thread.
