  1. Translation: American farang gets tired of abuse from family and government sources and retaliates. Now he faces ten times the punishment he would receive in civilized countries and the family will get NOTHING after the police get through draining his bank account. Thai justice is done.
  2. Until full clarification, I will do nothing. If forced to pay Thai taxes, I will move to Cambodia.
  3. It will end when it becomes illegal. When the punishment is heavy enough to guarantee mercy, that is when you will get it.
  4. Thailand has never paid any attention to Amnesty International of any other organization supporting "human rights'.
  5. Normally, among the first things you learn here is that there is no freedom of speech and also that the truth is no defense in cases of "defamation".
  6. It's not just you. Most expats feel this way whether they will admit it or not. No good deed goes unpunished if you are an expat.
  7. I should add that I DO have an account at Bangkok Bank. That's the only reason I bothered to ask.
  8. If I am using an American debit card at a Thai ATM, is there any way to use the cardless feature? I have had a big problem in the past with ATM machines grabbing my debit card. It takes at least a month to get a replacement from my credit union, so this causes an emergency situation.
  9. Absolutely unacceptable. I am truly sorry for our fellow expats from the UK.
  10. Since Pattaya seems to be inhabited by a huge contingent of retired Republicans and other so-called "Conservatives", I'm surprised that anyone would bat an eye. That said, Trump is a criminal and an imbecile. Lots of those in Pattaya, as well.
  11. One MORE reason that I will never drive in Thailand. Public transport will have to do.
  12. He does not seem to be in any position to demand ANYTHING!!!. Lock him up.
  13. Either one is okay with me. This rich boy has caused the farang expat community more problems than any single Thai authority figure.
  14. Looking forward to seeing this "farang-hater" ousted from power. We "aliens" have enough problems.
  15. I pay my agent (who is also my landlady). 14 thousand baht a year to renew my extension of stay.

  18. I have always thought of Australia as a very advanced country. This item about the banks is surprising.
  19. Yes, the constant threat of invasion from Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Vietnam, requires a steady supply of teenage cannon fodder to keep the hostilities going.
  20. What the HELL is "over-tourism"???? The mere concept is laughable. Money from tourism does not seem to bother any Thai merchant. We spend money, YOU reap the benefits.
  21. Obviously, if he had not been in Thailand, this would have never happened. The ultimate Thai catchall phrase that releases every Thai from personal responsibility.
  22. Asean Now is tolerating the most vile anti-Jewish content of any forum online. I frequently can't believe what I am reading. "Openly Jewish", indeed. He must have been well-bathed rather than stinking like an unwiped arse.
  23. I always tip. Usually 40 baht. These people are making substandard wages. I couldn't live with myself if I failed to tip them something. They deserve it. If the waitress is old or ugly, I generally tip more.
  24. Thanks, so much. That's the article I found originally. This sounds encouraging.
  25. I noticed a brief article, which I seem to have misplaced, about ThaiPost getting into banking. Could someone shed more light on this development? I can't find much about it in English.
