I would literally vote for ANYONE over Trump. He is dangerous and erratic. His tariffs will end in a recession.

It's possible to eat well and cheaply at 7-11. I need Western food because there are few Thai dishes that I can eat without getting sick. I am NOT a fan of Thai food.

It turns out that he was apprehended in Thailand and flown to Atlanta. This was two years ago. STILL no word on how the case turned out. What was the sentence?

I moved here for a lower cost of living. Their so-called "culture" was not one of the attractions. At my age (75), even the women are not among the attractions. You can't shoot pool with a rope. 🙂

I do my best to stay inside during the entire Songkran period. I only like to get wet when I am taking a shower. I learned long ago that Songkran would only run my blood pressure up to the stratosphere and cause me to react in ways that might get me beaten up or killed. Given those facts, my decision to stay in my condo for the duration of Songkran makes a lot of sense.

A good rule of thumb seems to be that the laws least likely to cause harm incur draconian and insane penalties, while those involving life and safety are not given much thought.

Thailand makes incredible amounts of money from this and the ridiculous "re-entry permits". Western countries need ways to punish them for abusing our citizens.

Utterly irrelevant to the post. We are ALL here by choice. That does NOT relieve the Thai government from fair taxation and fair treatment of those who want to retire here. Nothing is being taken out of their economy and we are pumping massive amounts of cash into that economy. No one is under the delusion that they would be "missed". The simple truth is that we benefit them by our presence.

The THAI GOVERNMENT cares about tariffs. Theirs make it ridiculously expensive to buy Western goods. Hold their feet to the fire until they make it less costly for Western expats to live here. We are already spending all our money here. They have no right to demand more.

Frequently, these kinds of charges are an attempt to extract money from the accused. I take these "me too" accounts with a grain of salt. I have always enjoyed Russell Brand's perspective.

So now, the "Hungry American" can eat roaches in a Thai jail or prison. Again, the punishment here will never fit the crime. Hunger or insanity is never an excuse under Thai law.
