  1. Well the OP hasn't answered the question did he get his 12 month extension through this agent. Maybe he snuck in a 90 day report as a new customer as it was September and low season?
  2. Did you do your 12 month extension with this agent? I'm sure that promotion is only if you did your 12 month extension with them. If you just did one 90 day report then the "until next time visa renewal" is obviously not applicable to you
  3. No, he was wrong as he said 15 month retirement visa was no longer available 😉
  4. This just popped up in my Facebook and made me laugh thinking of this thread 😀
  5. So are you saying you'll get a non-imm O from US and then apply for a 12 month non-imm O ME from Laos? I personally would hate to be made to leave the country every 90 days which is why O-A sounds so much better to me if aim is to not transfer 800k baht to Thai bank
  6. Not sure about US but in Australia the 90 day non-imm O also requires 90 day health insurance. When I went to all the Thai approved insurers most said they do not do 90 day cover. I found one that did and it was 3 times the cost of the 12 Month O-A insurance So this was a useless option in Australia
  7. Well I'm getting one next month and I think it's the best for a 2 year no immigration hassle and no thai cash deposit visa 😀 I'm also sort of happy it makes me get a health insurance policy as I've spent 15 months in Thailand last 2 years without insurance as mainly on visa exempt (one TV)
  8. What a derailed thread, went from O-A visa to non-imm O in Laos and now yellow book and pink card I want the 5 minutes of my life back that I was trying to read about O-A visa 😆
  9. You are right. It's the same 13,290 cost for me up to 60 but at 61-65 it jumps to 31,425 and 66-70 is 40,995 while 71 is 53,375 I need to get in quick 😀
  10. The main issue raised against the O-A visa always seems to be the insurance. I don't see it as a problem as AXA offers an O-A approved 4 million baht policy for 13,290 baht (with 100k deductable). This is a third of the price I pay in Australia for my current health insurance As for the deductable, I'm happy to self insure the first 100k baht knowing the insurance covers the next 3.9 million for a serious issue. Check your cost here: https://direct.axa.co.th/HealthOnline/EasyCare/CoverageOptionPlan/Agent/967C4F6A7E
  11. So you were picked out of line because you looked suspicious by being stopped and letting people go in front of you, and you did not have an onward flight which is mandatory for a visa exempt entry.
  12. It hasn't been blocked. There's a whole air pollution sub-forum https://aseannow.com/forum/424-air-pollution-in-thailand/

How does a Pattaya bar know if a customer is driving themselves home? How would they have any clue if someone is walking home, or they've parked a bike 200 meters away because they've been on a bar crawl

Ummm, because it says bars are to breathalise everyone leaving and anyone over 0.05 are to: - be forced to wait until sober in a rest area, or - bar is to call family or friends to come get you, or - bar is to arrange transport and force you to use it to get home All 3 of the above options are a joke as who is less than 0.05 at 4am and why can't people just get themselves home like they do everywhere else in the World
  15. (1) I have no intention of claiming myself as a non-resident for tax. Having a storage unit and using my Sister's address are enough to claim residency (tax rules are written to catch people claiming non-resident, not the other way around) (2) I stayed over 180 days in Thailand the last 2 years however do not need to do tax as I have no assessible Thailand income (plus I transfer savings not rental income)
  16. Well it is in the Pattaya forum. Go look in the Bangkok forum
  17. First it's 400k in dead account for most of the year as you can spend 400k after 3 months, before topping up again to 800k 2 months before next extension. You failed to say how much money you send to Thailand each year while on an agent funded extension. Is it more than 400-800k baht so you also have same money in a dead account to pay for living expenses?

"In the event that a customer refuses to rest and has a breath alcohol level exceeding the legal limit, the bar operators must contact the customer’s friends or relatives or hail public transport to arrange for their transportation at the customer’s expense." How ridiculous is this. First, how would a bar know if you were driving/riding home with your vehicle parked out of sight, 2nd how would a bar know how to call your friends or relatives. What if you have none in Thailand 😆 I live a 5 minute walk from LK Metro, why would I be mandated to have a breath test when I'm walking home?
  19. I've never understood this argument as initial non-imm O + 12 month extension through an agent costs around 26,000 baht. So that means your money at home needs to earn 3.25% after tax just to break-even (5% interest can easily be < 3.25% after tax) However, how do you live if you don't send the same 800,000 baht a year to Thailand that non-agent users send. Why do agent supporters always act like they never have to send their home money to Thailand in order to live?
  20. What? I keep my apartment empty in Australia as I spend about 3-4 months a year there but I could rent it no problem. I would get the $18,250 tax free threshold + the tax deductable 8% rental agent fee + building depreciation + body corporate fees + land rates, so can earn $600 a week with zero tax on income (about 60,000 Baht per month tax free)
  21. Sportsman also does one of the best Sunday Roast buffets in Pattaya so they have a great reputation
  22. As OP wants traditional UK Christmas dinner I'll give a shout out to a traditional UK pub, the Sportsman on Soi 13 (50 metres from Robin Hood above and a third of the price)
  23. Thanks. And here I was thinking someone thought the METV 6 month validity started on date of entry instead of date of issue Turns out someone just doesn't like me 😀
  24. I've seen a few people post on here that passbook is not required for your kind of account. If it helps there's no mention of passbook copies in the formal documents required list (item 4)
