Why would I want to visit the Base when OP says it sold for 150,000 per sqm, total rip off. I live 400 metres from it in a 100sqm condo I was happy to pay only 60k per sqm. 13 years later condo complex is still in great condition with Gym, pools, Sauna, and all common areas in as new condition unlike what it sounds like at the Base

Thread has gone from condo build standard to how far to walk with groceries and water, to should you own/bolt a live or die bike, to people bragging about having an overpriced Elite visa to now being a lecture on how not to flaunt wealth What's next to cover?

My Mate is there now and he said he had to apply for an invitation letter first. I thought this is if you did visa on arrival method but he then showed me his evisa? He said it took hin a week to get it all sorted.

Local 7/11 Cashier asked if I collect stamps now (as previously not). I said yes, I'm collecting for my young Niece. He then gave me a nice handful of stamps. Now I have to cash all my stamps at another 7/11 so he doesn't know I lied 😀 Or maybe give to my favourite waitress like another poster above, get some brownie points

Current wait time is today you can make an appointment for Wednesday, so not too long (Mon and Tue always seem busiest as Thu Fri can't pick up passport until after the weekend)

Is this all you have to do as my friend is in Vietnam now and he said he had to get an invitation letter first? If true, that would be a most ridiculous inhumane rule as people could be on overstay because in hospital. Thankfully Google tells me US gives 3 year ban for overstay between 180 days and 1 year and 10 year ban for overstay > 1 year

I was thinking the other way. Spend 220 baht, get two 1 baht stamps, sometimes 1 when it should be 4. I of course never say anything as I was giving them away anyway Edit: maybe it is every 100 baht and cashier correct? Anything I Google says 50 baht but they're all dated many years ago

Thailand with 1 year ban for up to a year overstay is a light penalty compared to Australia. Over staying a visa in Australia for more than 28 days is a 3 year ban.

I think it's a 1 baht stamp for every 50 baht excluding alcohol (and cigarettes I assume). Cashier never seems to follow that 50:1 rule closely though

Like most, I've been getting stamps with my change at 7-eleven. I have been giving these to kids who were very happy to receive them. If no kids there I would just leave on counter. Now I find out these stamps are same as cash with a value of 1, 2 or 3 baht. Just proudly bought some free cat food with stamps 😀

Your link has a nice chart showing average price for the Base. I still don't know what they are getting for 120,000 sqm cost. That should be a penthouse somewhere

I doubt condo's sold at 150,000 sqm? Most Pattaya condo I've looked at seem to be 50-65,000 sqm so that's a massive difference

So in summary, OP will have had 1 visa exempt entry in 15 months when he applies for a Tourist Visa Pretty sure he'll be fine

Don't people use an agent so that the 500,000 in bank is not needed though?
