  1. I was speaking of Thailand only given the audience here. I was well aware that expats in some countries are biannual. In general Thailand is an annual country so is surprising news to me that some in Thailand are biannual. Thanks for that. Of course if you're using a US address this dooesn't concern you.
  2. They would know already, and they have absolutely no control over such things. Their policy is to welcome contact AFTER the second form hasn't arrived. If you want to waste your time and theirs, go for it.
  3. No. They will not accept any letter going to the USA.
  4. Reading between the lines it's clear to me that Zelinsky would accept this kind of deal: Current lines frozen No official recognition that occupied lands are Russia but an informal acceptance of current reality No gifting of demanded land that Russia has not occupied Return of stolen children Security guarantees with zero Russian involvement or veto power that are significantly more robust than the broken Budapest memorandum No acceptance of never NATO. Possibly a time limited ban such as 20 years Probably no demand for reparations from Russia or war crimes trials even though that is well deserved Such a deal would obviously involve a new Ukrainian election which Zelensky would probably win if he runs, but not sure that there would be a good reason for him to run at that point. His job would have been done and he's not in this war for regime survival as is genocidal war criminal dictator Putin. Of course, Russia is very far from agreeing to that kind of compromise. So the war will go on.
  5. Loving the Flamingo. It has a real potential of being a game changer even if Putin's poodle in D.C. goes full on Kremlin.
  6. Contact the companies to see if they are blocking also. It's a dynamic situation. Also the regular address for the 7162 is a post office box so you may need to use an alternative address for any premium shippers if any. There has been mention of a very expensive Thai Post courier service as well. As we're on the first mailing time frame now, I suggest that people cool their jets as we are still very far from the time next year when there is any risk of benefits suspension. I wouldn't bother Manila FBU yet either. The time to contact them is if you never receive the form after the SECOND mailing.
  7. The Thai Post mail suspension is "temporary" but there is no set date to reinstate service, so presumably that will be dependent on resolution of trade war issues and uncertainties between the Thai government and the Trump regime. In other words, completely unpredictable.
  8. Yes the suspension includes letters. Keep in mind though that there is still presumably a SECOND MAILING of the form later in the year so if this is resolved, that's a backup. If there is a problem with both, then there is probably a way to resolve this via email with Manila FBU. If next year there is a benefits stoppage, there is now a way to reverse that over the phone directly with SSA. So it's way too early to panic about this.
  9. As far as I know and I haven't heard of any announcment saying that incoming mail from the USA has been blocked. I guess we'll see.
  10. Yes it's an international issue with many nations responding. But even those who have suspended service have not all suspended regular mail such as letters as Thailand has. I'm not blaming Thailand but if this lasts a long time this can obviously be a big problem for many Americans.
  11. You got lucky to get it into the mail before Thai Post suspended all mail service to the USA in response to our "wonderful" president's tariff program.
  12. I've been getting them every year except the expected one now which I haven't received. My understanding has always been everyone is supposed to get the form that has a non-US address on record and nobody with a U.S. address gets the form. I am also confused about whether it's really true that some non-US address people don't get it. I would also appreciate confirmation about that.
  13. No. The receiving situation for these forms is specific at Wilkes Barre. I'm no expert on that.
  14. I agree but lying about this is being heavily promoted in Mexico and Panama In Mexico there is even at least one hospital that specializes in such claims. I don’t understand how this has been happening without major legal consequences. Specialuzed agents advice on how to never tell Medicare the truth. Also some plans are better for this scheme than others and paid agents advise which to choose based on zip code. Medicare and SS are related. The address must match. You can't be an expat on one and a US resident on the other.
  15. Did you mistake me for SSA customer service.?
  16. US address. Never needed. However the rules mandate that you must change your address if you move. So if for some reason they find out later that you live abroad there is a risk of frozen benefits. It is arguably fraud. Keeping a US address when clearly an expat to avoid a form isn't exactly an innocent action. On top of that if you do keep the US address you can use Medicare Advantage abroad for acute medical emergencies. Very popular with expats in Mexico. I predict sooner or latrr there will be a crackdown on that.
  17. Logistiically all they could do is stop paying to people with foreign addresses.
  18. I wouldn't say that will happen but I will say it could happen.
  19. You don’t need to be leftist to know Trump is a dangerously incompetent moron. Ask Bolton.
  20. Yeah if caught in a rip tide and a strong swimmer and knowledge not to try to swim directly into the current it should be ok. I guess an argument to push swimming lessons on kids.
  21. On the beach. As I already said I don't know how much they saw of the incident. Maybe it's different these days, but back then letting a 12 year old relax on a raft in shallow water on a beach without big waves was quite normal. Even if they had been watching as the tide swept me out, there is nothing they could have done. Oddly, I never discussed that detail with them. It didn't even occur to me to ask.
