  1. I get what you're saying that authentic can be a cringe red flag word but I think that word was needed here to communicate the issue. There are many different pizza styles in the world and there are also multiple styles in Italy. Is a Philadelphia pizza Italian even though not an Italian style? People might disagree and I'm not sure it matters. Just because something started in Italy doesn't mean variations developed elsewhere can't be good. A good example is burritos in the U.S. vs. Mexico. The U.S. versions in general are much better but not authentically Mexican.
  2. This a more general post. As there is so very much content out there, past, present, and future it's not humanly possible to watch everything that might be worth watching, not even close. So of course everyone "misses" stuff and moves on to newer stuff, or older stuff new to them. But what about shows that were associated with a time in the past, and you missed it? Such as Tiger King associated as the hit show of the beginning of the pandemic or Mad Men associated with the time it was popular? Just two examples. I missed them both. Even though both interest me, I seem to never get around to starting with them, like it's some kind of psychological block.
  3. I'm sorry you're so CLOSED MINDED. Look, I well understand that Italians are remarkably chauvinistic about their food. But the truth is no nation OWNS a particular kind of food. You might have misunderstood me. I'm not saying most or all pizzas sold globally are authentically Italian. But some are. Let's take Neopolitan style. Say you have a place with an authentic oven that uses imported from Italy ingredients, with either a trained Italian chef or competently trained in that style of any nationality. Do you seriously believe that can't be authentic Italian pizza just because it's not cooked in Italy?!? Come on man.
  4. You can take the girl out of the south, but you can't take the south out of the girl.
  5. That's kind of silly. Authentic Italian pizzas are available globally.
  6. I've assumed real deep dish isn't much of a thing in Thailand because it uses a massive amount of cheese. So to do it right with quality ingredients here would mean a product that most wouldn't buy. Another thing which I can't really explain. I've had great Chicago style pizza in ... you guessed it ... Chicago. But when I've tried it in other places even with chain brands from Chicago -- not as good.
  7. What's hate speech is accusing Israel of having a policy of murdering civilians. Israel is in Gaza to go after Hamas. Hamas uses human shields. They've admitted as much. Also it's great propaganda for Israel's enemies to focus on the tragic civilian casualties without explaining the reasons that happens. Hamas on the other hand as evidenced on October 7 and Hamas announcements to do those again and again and again has a charter policy saying Kill all Jews. Israel has no choice but to carry out this war. Israel did not ask for this war. Hamas FORCED this war.
  8. Any comments on the pizza at Oregano restaurant at Rompho Jomtien? I just started eating there and the Italian food is very good. I meant to order a pizza there yesterday but was too early. They open at 3 pm but told pizza starts a 5. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g3366878-d24016884-Reviews-Oregano-Jomtien_Beach_Pattaya_Chonburi_Province.html
  9. I call BS. Also Jews are not a race. But Jews are a people which includes different ethnicities. Unlike Christianity and Islam Jews are an ethnoreligious group.
  10. It is Hamas aim to murder all Jews. The Palestinians have a tradition there. Look up the history of Hitler lover the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem in Berlin.
  11. The vast majority of global Jewx support the right of Israel to exist thus Zionist Jews. It's hateful propaganda to suggest that the vast majority of Jews aren't Jews.
  12. The translation of that is you don't want Israel to exist. Very hateful. Another River to the sea dude.
  13. Oh,the humanity! What's next? Cheese on seafood pasta?
  14. An interesting question. In US race politics she's not quite white, but whiter than Kamala, and definitely not black.
  15. of the Smothers Brothers. Boomers would now. Looks like more innocent times but remember those times weren't all that innocent either.
  16. There was a popular financial advice book that I read over 20 years ago (forgot the name) that said the goal should be to die and have the check (remember those?) for your final arrangements bounce. Of course for those that care about a legacy and leaving money to heirs that doesn't work, but I believed in it at the time. My feeling now is that you should strive for a balance. It's very important to not run out of money before you die so it's almost impossible to be able to predict events that way. But too many reach a point in older life when they can and should spend more, but through a life of "saving for retirement" find that very hard. As another said, the last months and years are often incredibly medically expensive so it's more likely you'll go broke then BEFORE you die, then just at that point. No easy answers on this one. So my response to the topic title is that would be ideal, but it's not even close to a realistic goal.
  17. I think it's typical though obviously not always. Depends on a lot of factors. Am I surprised ultra religious Jews are volunteering. Yes I am actually. Perhaps you aren't familiar with the long and contentious history of the controversy over not requiring IDF service of that group in Israel.
  18. She could have simply said the historical truth. It was about slavery. Next question. It wouldn't have even made the news. Now she's marked.
  19. It's typical for any country to unify in times of war. One very encouraging thing happening now in Israel is that more ultra religious Jews who are not required to serve in the IDF (too busy studying Torah) are actually stepping up.
  20. Yeah, I get that. I consider the vast majority of the anti Israeli posts here of the latter variety. It's kind of weird. What other country than Israel is constantly being demanded to defend that it even has a right to exist and defend itself? You get denials. Oh we only want equal rights for all (a one state solution guaranteeing the end of Israel) and/or right of return for the 14 million people who can claim some connection as Palestinians globally (also guaranteeing the end of Israel). It's sad if anyone is fooled by that. There there is the dark irony of the useful idiots for Hamas protest rallies. We charge you with genocide! (It's a hellish war but it's not genocide) while at same time chanting for genocide of Jews. River to the Sea (Israel gone) Intifada Revolution Resistance by any means necessary (support for October 7 atrocities)
