You just said only 180 days annually. That's not a retirement visa replacement

Some details to add about Colombia. Option for permanent residence or citizenship after five years No language requirement if older. Global taxation. Not remittance based. Not a big problem for modest income and wealth. If you're very wealthy and or high income avoid being a Colombia tax resident Better perks health plans available if you start before age 60

I think aiming to retire in India is similarly masochistic as aiming to retire in Vietnam. (Unless you have an ethnic or marriage connection to those countries.) So for India, let's summarize: No retirement visa. Probably never will be. Only option is 6 month tourist visas at a time. Getting the full 6 months not guaranteed. Then you need to leave India and start that over again indefinitely. Always at the mercy of not getting a new 6 months or indeed not getting a new touris visa at all. Actually practically being able to live in a country should be the basic first thing to consider for expat retirement destinations. India simply doesn't make the cut. Yes some countries don't have a literal retirement visa but have other visas that can be used for that. India does NOT have EITHER. Again, why waste your time unless you're just here to pull our chains?

Yes. thanks for that. Insider trading was not an aspect of corruption mentioned by Zakaria. It's even worse than that. The autocratic Trump regime has massively gutted the SEC so they're basically crippled as far as doing investigations and it's obvious they wouldn't touch going after maga loyalists any more than Trump's DOJ would.

There are so many reasons that it's easy to not fully realize everything bad about them. (I'm not aware of even ONE good thing about them except if you're Putin and Xi and happy to see the USA actively accelerate it's own decline.) Had you thought of this one before? CORRUPTION. Hardly surprising from the most corrupt president in American history.

Why waste your time with that? No visa for retirement there.

Much less. Also much lower cost of living than Medellin.

Way off topic but I like to suggest another option for people looking for low cost, friendly people, beautiful scenery. affordable and high quality health care via a hybrid private/national health care scheme actually required for expats, very low retirement visa qualifications, modern infrastructure (you can drink the water), no need for a car (buses and cheap taxis), excellent climate year round "spring" like weather, and safe enough if you're not looking for trouble -- the coffee region of Colombia (specifically Armenia). Housing for expats mostly in a wide choice of modern condos with the expected amenities as Armenia is a top choice for retirement for Colombians from Bogota. No it's not perfect. Not as safe as Thailand but safer than U.S. big cities and Colombian food is bland as they don't like spicy food, limited Asian food,. etc. That's where I would be checking out first IF I wasn't so invested and settled in Thailand already. Condo examples:

No retirement visa. Maybe look into Sri Lanka (which does).

Is Donald Trump officially the grinch by taxing Christmas?
Jingthing replied to PomPolo's topic in Political Soapbox
Not sure about grinch but he's surely the GRIFT that keeps on GRIFTING. No doubt the most CORRUPT US president in history. -
Here's the dealio. It's the economy, stupid, and Trump is as stupid as stupid gets on the economy. There is ZERO chance his tariff madness will have a positive outcome. The only question now is the level of bad. A recession is almost definite. A recession which has his filthy liddle paws all over it and yes the people get that. Inflation -- definite. Slow growth -- definite. Bingo -- that's STAGFLATION. If you don't know how bad that is google the history of JAPAN. A Trump induced GREAT DEPRESSION -- without a doubt possible. If you don't know why (tariffs) look up the history of the last one. So I'm seeing that he resigns for "health reasons" when he can't go out in public anymore anywhere without being BOOED. It will stop being fun for him.

Won't ever happen. Trump won't even make it through this current term. He's just playing to divert people, cause more chaos and outrage, and try to diffuse the reality that right now he is a LAME DUCK president.

Poll -- Who will cave first in the momentous China-USA trade war?
Jingthing replied to Jingthing's topic in Political Soapbox
Probably but at the accelerated rate Trump is ruining the country, who knows?
