Taking this closer to home suppose Trump put 50 percent tariffs on Thailand seriously damaging the Thai economy. Would Thai people become hostile to Americans here? Would the government take any action other than tradng even more with Russia and China. I really don't know But I would expect some tit for tat. For example if bank accounts of Thais in the US were frozen why wouldn't Thailand not do the same to expat Americans?

No. There are very low cost options in Latin America such as Colombia outside the biggest cities, Nicaragua etc. Panama is high on my own B list options to Thailand. It's certainly more tax friendly than Thailand now.

If Trump invades Panama as threatened to reclam the canal of course there would be backlash. Of course the state department would tell Americans to leave before invading but many would stay.

This has only just begun. Colombia caved to Trump's threats but not every country is going to cave as easily. I heard that Trump was going to order that Colombian's US bank accounts be frozen. If he did outrageous stuff like that surely tit for tat against Americans could happen. Stay tuned.
