Most everyone else has no power. Musk has awesome power. Who elected him exactly?
-
I guess you're one of the people that actually thinks Musk has the interests of the American people in mind.
-
True which he is controlling now. You're forgetting that Trump is rapidly declining both physically and mentally. He likes to do signing ceremonies where he gets handed stuff from Project 2025 and doesn't even know what he's signing. He is both incapable and unwilling to do very much presidential work except for the showboating stuff such as insane press conferences where he wages war on our allies. Musk on the other hand is very willing and able with his tech boy groupies to do massive amounts of actual (EVIL) work. I think Musk has Trump by the mushroom.

what money is taxed 2024 ?
Jingthing replied to Carver2's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Oh great! So a foreigner remits 5 million baht to save his life in a Thai hospital and then needs to pay a very high tax rate if he does survive. Yes, lots of people either don't have insurance and/or can't get covered because of preexisting conditions. I think this might become a growing GOOD reason to leave Thailand because of taxation. This has occurred to me before but haven't heard anyone mention it yet. Expats without insurance for good or bad reasons, this is really something to think about. -
Why do people still deny the Holocaust ever happened

That joke wasn't even funny the first time. -
Here's where you're wrong. Musk has dirt on Trump. Like Epstein stuff. Musk is the richest person in the world. Trump doesn't have the power to rein in Musk.

That's his intent and he's already made lots of progress. Can we STOP him? Do enough people even WANT to stop him? Dunno.

what money is taxed 2024 ?

So to confirm, credit for "health" stuff is limited to health and life insurance and would not apply to a hospital bill that you paid out of pocket. Correct? -
what money is taxed 2024 ?
Jingthing replied to Carver2's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
As far as "cash" in a brokerage account on Dec. 31. 2023, I'm not convinced this is settled yet. Why? Because it's almost never just cash. It's usually cash in some kind of investment vehicle such as an interest paying money market fund. So this might be a lost in translation type thing when communicating with TRD. It's not an issue for me but if it was I'm guessing it wouldn't be super risky to claim that the same as cash in the bank and if audited you could at least show that your understanding was that it was cash. Unless you're talking really big money I doubt that would become a punitive type of situation. But up to you. -

Colombian President Suggests Cocaine Should Be Legalized Like Whisky
Jingthing replied to Social Media's topic in World News
It kind of makes sense for him to promote the local specialty. He's not as far off as it might sound. The original COCA COLA wasn't called COCA for nothing. In many ways regulation, legalization, and standardization would make things much safer for users. As it is now, you don't know what kind of literal garbage is cut into any street drugs or what the dose really is. and yes that can be very dangerous even fatal. -
Credit to Donald Trump, LGBT’ is over. Someone Tell the BBC
Jingthing replied to Social Media's topic in World News
That isn't liberal logic. That's transphobic exaggeration and fear mongering. Forget the sports issue for a moment which in reality actually involved a TINY number of people. Consider what the fascist Trump regime just did. They ordered the complete erasure of any reference to trans (or non binary etc.) in all government documents. Basically, telling trans people that they don't exist. You may hate or be ignorant about trans people but they DO exist and the government is supposed to be for ALL the people. Consider what they did at the CDC. They ordered all research which presumably cost a lot of money that referred to gay people to be wiped. Erased. That's why I said, first they came for the trans. That research was used to promote health of gay people worldwide and yes (duh) gay people have specific health concerns, just as black people do, etc. This is evil. This is fascism. Look at history if you don't believe me. Yeah I know maga types will say this is hyperbole, this is paranoid. No. It's not paranoia if they're really out to get you and or ERASE reference to your very existence.- 199 replies

With maga cruelty is the point. Trans people are being used as one of the easiest initial scapegoating targets. Fascist movements always need scapegoats.- 199 replies

Late to renew retirement visa
Jingthing replied to john smith's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
It puts the expat in a very vulnerable position. They could accept the application with overstay fines or at their discretion they could reject it. -

what money is taxed 2024 ?
Jingthing replied to Carver2's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I saw another video today which raised a new question for me. It said health insurance premiums could be used as deductions (or credits?) or whatever the term for that is in Thailand. But then it said something vague about health expenses which sounded to me like any out of pocket health care expense which if you're not covered could be a massive amount of money for hospitalization, etc. But then it said there were LIMITS on the amounts. But then didn't give the limits! Does anyone have more specific information about that? -

About the brokerage account aspect. A brokerage account might have a cash bucket part in it. Perhaps a money market fund or something like that. I don't think that firm has opined on whether TRD would accept that cash bucket part the same way as cash in a regular non-brokerage bank account. Someone should ask them. It seems a grey area. -
4 Israeli men fined for causing chaos at hospital in Mae Hong Son
Jingthing replied to snoop1130's topic in Chiang Mai News
Israelis do have mandatory service (with exceptions) for men, women, trans, and intersex but presumably some would serve non-potential combat roles depending on their particulars. They get a chunk of money after service so If you see on a budget groups of young Israelis in Thailand and other popular destinations, there's a very good chance they're taking their after service long holiday abroad. For many that's their last hurrah before going back to stressful full blown adulting. I wonder how that compares to Amish Rumpspringa. (Very wild times!)
