  1. Banning them means they can not if, the school or institution receives federal funding.. Which most do even the private ones get some form of federal funding. @thesetat... I know the penalty is loss of federal funding. What I was asking is referring to the article which ONLY says transgender cannot participate in WOMEN's or GIRL's sports. I asked if that means transgenders CAN PARTICIPATE in MEN's or BOY's sports. And, if that's the case, why does the law only address female sports?
  2. Although I don't condone this activity, why is this any different than shooting any animal with a harpoon or anything else if you intend to eat it?
  3. So, does that mean transgender athletes can participate in men's and boy's sports in these schools and institutions? If so, why?
  4. No you won’t. Wokeness is being driven into oblivion. A word of advice-let go before you get taken out by the warrior ethos. Yes, I will. Wokeness will never now be driven into oblivion as long as I'm around. And, I will never be "taken out" by the warrior ethos. That just won't happen, although I admit that there are a lot of my fellow citizens (USA) that have been taken in by that ethos. I hope that will change after they see what happens during the next four years.
  5. The remedy for foes is to wake them up, not try to deter them with violence. Doing that just prolongs and maybe even escalates the conflict.
  6. I agree that "wokeness" and the belief in human-caused climate change must be introduced to society in phases, not all at once. An extreme position on either can certainly be counterproductive. However, those who favor these two positions (of which I am one) must also not allow detractors to completely nullify the assertions that are the foundations of "wokeness" and human-caused climate change. And those same people must continue to lobby for changes in our society that will enable the acceptance and then associated actions in line with these two progressive concepts.
  7. Infamous last words of a recipient of a Darwin Award "Wokeness" is, IMO, a new, positive feature of our (human) social evolution. "Warrior ethos" is, again, IMO, a shameful remnant of our past.
  8. I'll take "wokeness" over a "warrior ethos" everywhere.
  9. The USA has never been a democracy. It is a republic and, in the best case, could be called a "democratic republic." However, even that does not fit exactly because not all citizens are allowed to vote. Each state has its own rules on that, but in all states, a citizen must pass certain criteria before they are allowed to vote. It's not time for a king—a monarchy. Unfortunately, our "king," is money. What we need to do is reduce our dependence on capitalism and increase our socialistic features.
  10. I abhor the way the Taliban men are described as treating their women, but before we go too far in encouraging hatred of them, remember that it was less than five hundred years ago that we (the West) treated our women in much the same way.
  11. No, Biden did not "get much wrong" during his presidency. But, if you're looking for a president who will "get much wrong," you'll be able to find one over the next four years.
  12. I had a beard in my younger days. For most of my life, I have been clean-shaven. Now, however, at age 79, I only shave and trim my beard once a week, so I have the now-prevalent, one-week-old beard that many celebrities and male presenters on most TV news programs (like CNN).
  13. I hope they find the one who set the snare and put them in jail!
  14. I don't understand this. If he were taken to a public hospital (as opposed to a private hospital), his treatment fees would be zero. He would only have to pay for any medications he was prescribed to take, and even then, the cost would be very low.
  15. I certainly hope this is not true. I will add anyone who has any positive thoughts about Trump to my 'WTF?' list.
  16. I haven't seen this yet, but that was her duty as the VP. Just like confirming Biden four years ago was Pence's job. The last figures I saw said Trump got 49.7% of the popular vote and Harris got 47.4%. I wouldn't refer to that as just "more than a few votes."
  17. Human existence has not BECOME too complex to comprehend. It has always been incomprehensible because it is not based on logic and reason, which are the basis for comprehension. The best we can do is to make up excuses for human activity after the fact.
  18. Ah, ha! The person in question "knows" whether they are a "he" or a "she," and we should respect their gender identity and not impose our gender assignment on them. That's our "woke" position.
  19. You are right. I am very far left, so I do consider the "center" to be too accepting of the right.
  20. The gender of the driver, the cat, or the person hit doesn't matter to me. I did read the article, but I missed the references to the driver as a woman. Thanks for your correction.
  21. I am a proponent of free speech, but I never take anything I read on Meta or any other social media platform as factual. In fact, it's becoming increasingly problematic to find factual information anywhere on the Internet. Just read and enjoy them as you would, listening to stories told by a group sitting around a table and drinking beer at a bar. Just don't depend on anything you hear or read. I know many will disagree with me on this, but I do trust CNN. They do make mistakes once in a while, but then they acknowledge and correct them. That's, of course, IMO.
