I haven't been back to the USA for about 20 years, and right now, with all the social unrest, I doubt if I'll ever return there. I don't consider everyone who disagrees with me on political issues deranged. I am a far-left liberal, but I can certainly appreciate many conservative political views. An example of that is before Trump, I did not support the Second Amendment, but now, because of him, I do, and I wake up every day hoping to hear on CNN that someone has exercised their rights under that amendment concerning Trump. However, my priorities are focused on societal issues. Your last sentence, in contrast, does show me where your priorities are—the economy—money, money, money! I am an anti-capitalist and a confirmed socialist. So, yes, I would probably have a lot of disagreements with you if we discussed politically associated economic and social issues, especially when they include Trump. He (Trump) has certainly succeeded in breaking whatever unity we did have in the USA into two distinct, opposing groups. I admit I am certainly fully in one of them and don't know how this division can ever be healed.

Yes! It's been horrible, and I don't think it's even close to being over yet. When I was growing up and living in the USA, I always knew there were racists, sexists, xenophobes, fascists, and other dissidents, but I thought they only made up maybe 10% of the population. Now, it's apparent they make up as much as 40%! They must have been there all the time. Trump didn't create these people; he just gave them permission to crawl out from under the rocks they've been hiding.

I did write this post. I did use a keyboard in my home office. What I didn't do was use an AI app to CREATE it. I did all the creating. My mom's been dead for about 15 years, and her house was sold many years before that.

We are consumed by our own hubris and believe we are the most important thing in the universe and everything else can be used and destroyed as we please to satisfy our desires. Until we learn to live both socially and environmentally compatible lives on the Earth, we have no business trying to go to other planets. Great, why not try it............. All I'll say is that before Trump, I was an opponent of our (USA's) 2nd Amendment. Now, I've been forced to reconsider my position on that.

I've lived in Thailand for over 20 years and have NEVER been threatened by a Thai. Of course, I live in a rural area in northeastern Thailand and don't go to bars to drink or stay out late at night. I also have been married to a Thai woman for most of that time, so I also don't go looking for street sex. These are the scenarios that I assume Farangs are engaged in when they are threatened by Thais. I have been threatened by Farangs a couple of times, but that was over disputes about golf at my golf club. These threats have never come to blows or have led to any retaliation.

No, I'm saying if you come to a foreign country, or even in your home country, you are subject to the local laws. Some of those laws may not be totally congruent with UN articles. Challenging and trying to straighten all that out is a problem you shouldn't want to have. So what I'm saying is the best course of action is to obey the local laws - or leave the country if they are too unacceptable to you.

Check article 19 of the UN According to Article 19 of the UN, you can complain if you don't like it. I think you still have to comply with it or be ready to suffer the consequences. It's the law in Thailand. Live by it or go home.
