  1. Should we perhaps have a look at the demonisation, threats, and careers ruined, of people who tried to get the grooming gangs into the public domain. Then we could have have a look at the Institutional cover up. From the very bottom, up through local councils, to the very heart of Government, where MP's were tweeting, people " Should shut their mouths, for the sake of Diversity " Turns out that it wasn't Islamophobia, or even anti-Muslim propaganda. It was an issue that extended the length and breadth of the Country. So GB News is getting attacked, why does that not surprise me.
  2. I'll be surprised if re-setting Brexit gets anywhere https://www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/article/brussels-to-demand-uk-surrenders-fishing-rights-and-follows-eu-laws-7ptq59dw8 I think a lot of the white noise emanating from Downing Street, will be nothing more than an effort at masking the cluster that is just starting to unfold in the UK. The UK's membership of CPTTP comes into effect tomorrow, which is also going to derail any renogatiation of a UK - EU Trade deal.
  3. An early Xmas present for Rachel from Customer Complaints Anyone want to predict a date, when the media cries of " When are you going to resign " start ?
  4. Racheal from Customer complaints plan for Growth Growth Growth has come to a shuderring halt. September contraction of 0.1% October contraction of 0.1% Compare and contrast with growth of 1.1% from January to July Speaking on the news, she said, whilst disappointing, she hopes that Policies laid out in the Budget will result in growth The carnage hasn't even started yet.
  5. Musk shot his bolt a bit early with that one. He should have kept that in reserve for Starmer. After all, his father was a real tool maker, and certainly lived up to his name when he made ' The Kier '
  6. I was on this on this one https://www.gov.uk/tax-foreign-income/non-domiciled-residents But the rules appear to have changed. If you have an address in Thailand, I still think it would be easier to open an FCA with one of the Thai banks than opening an Off shore account. Of course, it could be that the rules in Thaialnd have changed since I opened mine in 2010.
  7. Are you a UK Citizen ? Then it is entirely possibly that you are a UK tax resident, even though your KSA salary is tax free, providing you stay less than 90 days a year in the UK. Can be done online. If you spend your time between Thailand and KSA, open a Foreign currency account in Thailand, end get your tax free salary paid direct to the FCA in Thailand. Probably a lot less hassle than trying to open an offshore account. Been there, done it and got the T-Shirt.
  8. Given that you work in KSA, are you an actual tax resident of Thialand ? If not open a Foreign Currency account in Thailand and have your tax free salary paid direct to that. If the interest generated in the UK is going to make things messy, an accountant can deal with your tax affairs for about ยฃ500 a year, which is tax deductable.
  9. It has been provided on numerous occasions. That you cannot understand it, is your issue to deal with.
  10. Here is the latest from expat tax No doubt some will come along claimimg fake news and conspiracy.
  11. Thanks for your input. Yet again you miss the point. Which is that according to the Siam Legal video, someone could legally challenge the ' Interpretation of the new rules ' For anyone that has an issue with the amount of tax that has been assessed by the Revenue Dept, there is a grievance procedure. Which can be found here https://www.rd.go.th/english/23517.html 2 very distinct and different things.
  12. Sure, that is what the guy says in the the Siam Legal Video. But lets be serious for a minute Scouse. Is anyone really going start legal proceedings for something like a Baht 5000 tax bill ? No ide what the legal costs would be, but I have no doubt that they would be many multiples of that Baht 5000 tax bill. I think what he was referring to was some Thai Billionaire challenging it.
  13. The keys are being put in the ignition on the back to the 70's buses https://www.theguardian.com/society/2024/dec/10/union-anger-over-labour-governments-insulting-28-public-sector-pay-plan https://www.theguardian.com/business/2024/dec/09/uk-job-vacancies-fall-at-fastest-rate-since-pandemic-as-business-confidence-slumps Keep believing folks, never here Kier has got it all under control ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€
  14. If renting is your thing, rent away. If commitment is your thing, find someone and commit away. What works for some, may not work for others.
  15. You wont find it, too many posts were deleted as DTA were deemed off topic as it contradicted the Revenue Code mantra. However you might find my big 4 window cleaner quip. Which was in reference to someone not knowing that an International Agreement ( DTA ) takes precedence over Thai domestic Tax Policy / Law.
  16. That is what happens when someone edits and deletes posts, because some called him out. Why do you think I took a 6 month sabatical ? Only to come back and find that the poster / moderator by the name of Lister has disappeared. DTA's should have been the go to Bible for everyone right from the get go. The Revenue Code then applies to those that remit assessable income over the threasholds laid down by the Revenue Code. The one size fits all is still being trotted out. See the video by Mr Hart lambasting the other bonehead that said " All Expats need to get TIN's " Because that is all they have. Ditto, like I really care about those idiots. I'm sitting here, knowing that I will be filing nothing, owe the Thai taxman nothing, and they can come and audit me anytime they like. And if I can point someone else in the correct direction, it will have been worth it.
  17. I'll second this But will also add. The initial thread on this forum contributed to the chaos and confusion. I wont comment on whether that was by design, incompetence, or deliberate. It caused confusion and chaos by 1. Trying to adopt a 1 size fits all methodology. 2. An almost cult like devotion to the Thai Revenue Code, which does not apply to all expats. 3. Someone unable to distinguish between a DTA and the Revenue Code, and what takes precedent. All of the above, highlighted various times, before I took a 6 months sabbatical.
  18. Did she not have to sell her fur coat and knickers to fund a defamation case she lost, over a ยฃ 1 million in legal costs ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€
  19. Since I am I dont like taking liberties. No formal time limit, is the key words. Anyway, the media screw is starting to turn, https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2024/dec/09/labour-planning-laws-local-democracy-homes https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2024/dec/09/human-rights-for-syrians-but-perhaps-not-for-saudis-in-labours-middle-east And this is one to revist in 6 months time ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€ https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2024/dec/09/keir-starmer-says-saudi-arabia-trip-fulfils-number-one-mission-to-grow-uk-economy Growth ? I wonder who will be correct, Starmer and Reeves or the multitide of economists who say the opposite.
  20. Your Government Pension does not need to be declared, as it is only taxable in the UK. Your other pension should be declared, if it is above the tax filing thresholds in Thailand. That does not mean that the non Government Pension will be taxable, once TEDA's and UK Tax paid are taken into consideration. If you go back to Novemeber last year, this is exactly what I said I was doing. Government Pension will continue to come direct to Thailand. Last payment on my Private Pension to my Thai Bank account was 15 Dec 2023. It was then paid into my UK account and will continue to be paid into my UK account until clarity / sanity comes to this tax debacle.
  21. That remains to be seen, however the King could refuse Royal Assent.
  22. We are only a few months in, best wait and see. He doesn't have to agree to a dissolution, he can simply withold Royal Assent, which would cause the Government to collapse. Posted it on here somewhere. Raynor is the darling of the Unions, and will be annointed when Starmer is ousted ( stabbed in the back ) by his own Party. Reeves Budget and Raynors workers bill, have just destroyed much of the UK. The effects are just starting, see post above. And Milliband with his Net Zero, not even going to go there. At some stage, a grown up has to step in, before the destruction is terminal and cannot be reversed.
  23. And so it begins https://www.thetimes.com/business-money/economics/article/economy-likely-to-shrink-as-budget-gloom-spreads-t6kddgn85 A singer by the name of Yazz had a hit with a song called ' The only way is up ' This Labour Government prefer to emulate Status Quo's ' Down Down ' Starmer & Reeves, 2 of the most uninspiring, robotic, wastes of space to inhabit No 10 & 11 Downing Street.
