  1. For me it is fairly logical. You plan for the worse, by following the rules, which for some will mean getting off their arse, obtaining a TIN and filing a tax return. If the RD then make an announcement along the lines of " People from Countries with a DTA with Thailand need to do nothing " then that is a bonus. The problem with that bonus, is that it is not going to happen, due to the reporting rules of CRS. If someone is from CRS Country and remit money into Thailand, an audit trail will have to be established to ensure that someone is not engaged in tax avoidance / evasion. Which oddly enough, is the main aim of CRS.
  2. Yes, the issue ( for some ) is that they may not be called TIN's in their home Countries The UK for example would be an NI Number and from about 2009 you could also have an UTR, if you self assess for tax.
  3. Mr Hart made a specific video aboutbthe guy who said " All Foreigners need to obtain a TIN " Cannot remember the guys name, but he was an American, that Mr Hart claimed worked for the IRS. Quite a ranty video and worth a watch if you wish to dig it out. Possible semantics, but causing confusion. The Law has not changed, POR 161 / 162 tweaked the meaning of the current Law. The foreigners from 61 Countries who's income is non taxable in Thailand due to DTA's will not be impacted. What % of the expat community this makes up, I have no idea, but like others, I would think it would be above 50%. Impacted, for me is an interesting word. Is getting off your arse once a year to file a tax return, pay no tax, really being impacted ? The small portion of retiree expats that have to get off their arse, file a tax return, and possibly pay some tax, will be impacted. So Mr Hart and all the others, who say that the vast majority of expat pensioners will not be impacted, are absolutely correct. Like you, I would be taking for gospel, what the Revenue Code says about who, and when someone has to file a tax return. Which was explained rather nicely, in the Siam Legal Video above, and countless other videos, produced by various other Tax Consultancies.
  4. You could be correct, but having watched a good few of his videos, I even posted one on 1 of the tax threads, I was never convinced that he understood what CRS was about. @mfd101 appears to be drawing the same conclusion.
  5. What he also seems to struggle with, not just him, but some posters on here, is that Thai tax / Financial laws do not need change, to comply with an International Agreement. Siam Legal are a big Company, who I assume are legitimate.
  6. Apropos to the thread Not only lied on her CV regarding past employment. Falsely claimed public money for filing a tax return. Claimed over £5000 in heating allowance, whilst robbing pensioners of Winter Fuel allowance. Previously had her Commons Credit card suspended / revoked. Just the type of person you need looking after the Nations finances. Yet people still think that Labour will not implode in the very near future. A re-run of the 70's oming soon.
  7. Did you understand the part where I said - Once the effects of the budget have worked there way through the system ? You might also want to have a think about the following Did you understand the part where I said the media, including the Guardian, are now turning against Labour ? Do you understand that the King could cause the dissolution of Parliament ? Do you understand the part where Donald Trump could seriously undermine the Government by refusing to deal with them, dealing with Farage and Truss instead ? So right now a VONC will not happen, it could do in 6 months time, and there are other ways that the Government could be forcefully collapsed.
  8. I never mentioned Laws, I specifically mentioned And if you believe that those 2 points amount to no changes, you crack on.
  9. It is a tempest in a teapot for some people, but a couple of things have changed 1. The Royal Act for CRS was published on 30 March 2023. 2. A new tax policy was implemented on the 01 Jan 2024, regarding tax residency and foreign income remitted to Thailand.
  10. Just my opinion Had you said retired and on a Government Pension ( Or other non taxable in Thailand ) I suspect that would have been the end of the story.
  11. No argument from me, on any of that. I am still firmly of the belief that the fun and games have not even started yet, we are just at the warm up act stage.
  12. Raynor is the darling of the Unions, you heard it here first. Just seen your edit billd I dont think the Cabinet matters either. I would not be surprised ii in about 6 months time, a VONC is called on the current Government. It all depends on how bad things turn once the effects of the Budget works its way through the system.
  13. And he is correct when he says most retirees will not be impacted. Some will need to obtain neither a TIN or file a tax return. Some will need to obtain a TIN, file a tax return, but pay no tax. Some will need to obtain a TIN, file a tax return and pay some tax. His comment was aimed at the un-named individuals who have said that all expats need to obtain a TIN. Which is clearly not the case.
  14. Which is rather amazing, as they had been in opposition for 14 years and had plans ready to go from day one. What we are seeing now, is the difference between 14 years of rabble rousing and actually being in Government. The Tories have a lot to answer for over that 14 year period, but Starmer and his crew, after 5 months is making them look competent.
  15. How do you achieve growth, when you implement a Budget that is the antithesis of growth ? Give it 6 months for the effects to work through the system, then the real fun and games will begin.
  16. I don't think it really matters. The media is already turning on Labour. Check out the opinion pieces in today's Labour loving Guardian. Not content with shafting large parts of the Country, he has now drawn the ire of the PCS and FDA Unions. Starmer hasn't a hope in hell of a 2nd term. Starmer will be gone within a year and Labour will be out in 2029, if not sooner.
  17. There is more in more in play than the sorry state of the Military. Too long a list to go into, so I will just give you a few examples from the modern day era. 1. Societal changes. 2. Unfit to join through, medical issues including obesity, prior convictions, habitual drug use. 3. Capita. The loss of places like Singapore, Hong Kong, Germany and a few others can hardly be blamed on the Military either. And it still can be, for anyone who is willing to invest the time and effort, rather than being glued to a mobile phone or playstation. From 1970 to 1990 the British Army strength only reduced by around 20,000 The fall of the Berlin Wall and the breakup of the USSR had the Kumbaya singers rubbing their hands together and thinking about the monetary savings. The slashing and burning started in earnest from 1992 / 3 And I'll also echo what @mokwit says above Another issue is that the Welfare Budget, is now equal to the combined budgets of the Armed Forces , Education and Policing. Another major issue right there.
  18. No argument from me, on that one. The top tier of the Tri-Services can also shoulder some of the blame.
  19. It does, because the people who join the FFL actually want to join the FFL. Which makes a massive difference.
  20. They ran away from their own Countries, not a snowballs chance in hell they would fight for the UK.
  21. As was said in Parliament " Why do we have more Illegal Immigrants in hotels, than we have Soldiers in Barracks " Sums up the sorry state of the UK.
