"No Weed" signs have appeared in my Condo building..
eyeman replied to bobbin's topic in Thailand Cannabis Forum
What? You have to wait to be told before you move on or stop? You can't use your judgement to determine if it's appropriate? When cannabis was legalized and the shops started multiplying like 7/11s no one really cared, I didn't care one way or another, but then they started taking the piss, smoking the stuff on pub terraces, in family restaurant gardens, at entrance to condos, around the pool, on steps of 7/11 and so on. The signs quickly appeared. They won't disappear, but you might see more of them, as it seems some cannabis users need to be told explicitly that this ain't appropriate at places where it should be obvious. -
You don't have two prongs but you do have three charges. Agent fee, change fee, fare difference. When you book with the agent it is extremely rare the airline will let you make changes directly with them, they just tell you to call your booking agent. Why would I book with say Netflights or Gotogate or whatever to save a few quid knowing any change will cost be an extra 80-150 quid on top of ticket change fee and fare difference, and in the case of many of those crappy agents it like a 3 hour wait on the phone vs getting through to airline within a few minutes.. Also extras are always marked up - look how much gotogate charges for luggage and seat vs the airlines own charges I'd only ever use an agent if I was 100% sure I wasn't going to change dates, times, and if the price saving was worth while, otherwise save the headache. Some of the agents like budgetair don't even issue a ticket in real-time, you get it several hours later if you're lucky and availability hasn't changed, and good luck getting them to even the answer the phone at all.. Done with agents..

Thai Officials Announce "Innovative" Expat Health Measure
eyeman replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Definitely not in the last month. BNH and Samitivej. 80% maybe 70% at Samitivej. Both doctors I interacted with last month were not masked, of course neither was I. At Chula earlier in the year I'd say probably around 95% though, I think anything associated with the government will be the last to return to normal. Even the left over masks signs from the crazy times are peeling off or colours fading out now. -
True, it's one area of government that actually works, fixed up a blown transformer within an hour or two near me, and when they upgraded the lines each part was only down for an hour there abouts, impressively fast.

Foreign woman criticised for urinating on Bangla Road, Phuket
eyeman replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Pot kettle black. Nearly every day see the yabba guys urinating under the BTS steps, or against a closed storefront, and nothing, no outrage, no media, because there is no foreigner target for them to jump on..- 119 replies

Service charge when redeeming app points at Coffee Shop
eyeman replied to RandolphGB's topic in General Topics
Yes, absolutely, and all those 12 bahts going into the pockets of hard working people, it could add up to thousands over the years, heck they might even be able to afford a small break away from Bangkok or a treat on their birthday at this rate. Nothing makes me sicker than hard working people getting a small bonus from the pool of service charge they accumulated.. 🤮 I've called BBC Panorama and they are on the way.. -

Overstay and new passport
eyeman replied to Mui8899's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
If you're from the UK you can get an ETD (Emergency travel document) in Bangkok, bring some form of ID though or they won't let you even in the elevator, the staff are fine and even advise about going to the airport and procedure at airport etc.. - they are not in the business of grassing people up, they want to see you on your way with minimal bother. There used to be contact details for booking an appointment on gov.uk but probably just easier to call the embassy during working hours. At least for UK people, I think renewing the passport here would be a bad idea as that would involve a longer wait and you need various forms of ID, proof of address, and involving another agency (VFS) I don't think it's a good idea. Someone mention you should be able to travel on your expired passport back to your country of origin, that may be true, but you would need to go direct I believe which limits you to EVA and Thai if UK, and still it's down to check-in manager to accept you, probably need to find someone with first hand experience on that before betting on it. Once you have you ETD, and your booked flight, just head to airport, have 20k in cash ready, and be prepared for ban of a number of years, best to arrive 3hrs before departure as they guys like to make over-stayers sweat that they will miss their flight by taking forever to process it, they time it perfectly so you basically have to run to the gate. Other than that no issues, ignore any fear mongering, so much false information on this forum about how it goes - it's straight forward.. 20k, a few stamps, a ban and off you pop. Sure, there's theoretical chance you're in an accident on the way to the airport and then taken into custody if the police just so happen to able to ascertain your immigration status, but so ridiculous to worry about that, you can get hit by bus too and you might win lottery tomorrow... -
zinio.com A few boozers stock reprinted english newspapers, but online is the way, also note Nat Geo physical is no long published they stopped it last month, all digital now.

Shocking the things that the pro-vax pro-covid crowd supported. At one point unvaccinated people in Austria weren't allowed to leave their house, a clown CEO of major international airline banned unvax passengers from traveling home, in the US governments workers risked losing their jobs without the shot certificate, students were told they couldn't come to campus until they had received two full shots and a certificate.. Madness on reflection, and still today you see some of the clowns behaving like still in 2021

Thai Airways flight diverted to Sydney, captain clarifies decision
eyeman replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Whilst I don't doubt the pilots decision, I wonder if there was a collective effort between all staff at TG to handle this smartly as would be with Singapore Airlines or Emirates, get the operations center to pro-actively reschedule on-wards flights where the airline has responsibility (same ticket number) - talk to passengers if in doubt on suitable arrangements but still allow further change if deemed unsuitable once at MEL, ensure a couple of hundred litres of drinking water prepped at SYD and loaded for the 4 hour delay, unlock the trolleys for soft drinks and snacks, provide timely cabin updates, ensure those with infant children or medical needs have everything they need and so on. I can empathize with the complainer if they were stuck on the tarmac for 3 hours (not saying that was the case but as an example) with no update or refreshments, that would bring out the Karen/Ken in a lot of people. A good airline in my book is one that manages the shlt show properly - i.e. when things go wrong they are on top of it. e.g. If missed next leg, walking off the gate, spot a sign, here you go Mr X here's your new boarding pass for your final destination and 20USD voucher for some food. no mega long queue at transit ticket office. -
Jesus christ, they cost like 100-200 baht and it's screw in within 5 seconds, they all start leaking eventually usually just a trickle

Across the board economy catering has got worse over the last decade, the applies to everything from Qatar Airways to Emirates, but Thai Airways catering is something else, absolutely horrendous on international. I wouldn't fly them international again even if they were the cheapest. The only good thing is that they cancel and reschedule domestic flights so often that you can generally bet on a free flight change if you got something booked a few months out.. And always late, gets worse as the day goes on, but sometimes they can't even get their noon flights out on time.. Also annoying is they don't declare it's late until the last possible moment, even if they are fully aware of a long delay as inbound flight is nowhere to be seen, on domestic the lounges are prior to security so that's annoying as hell.

Need onward ticket asap! Who to buy from?
eyeman replied to Dorian999's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Onwardticket often use Vietnam Airlines business class for BKK outbound, so i gather they are full refundable albeit maybe 20k+, I reckon that will be the cheapest option, look at their direct website and see the terms. -

A lot of the loss of these crimes could be solved if the pawn shop was made legally and financially responsible for clearing stolen items. It would be up to the shop to decide what measures they would take - holding payment for several days, requiring witnesses, other titles etc.. but at the moment seems like all these shops do is facilitate the crimes That said I don't get the attraction with a big f' off gold necklaces, tacky as a Lacoste polo, or burberry man bag, they must get sold together in the knobhead starter kit..
