  1. Very interesting, my little understanding of Thai law/road rules are who ever is in front is pretty much in the right, so in your case that would apply, they way yours was handled pretty much tell you its a free for all and you better hope the policeman is having a good day...
  2. Thais have this idea that everything is gold no matter how old, just this week sent out message as a stir as I was searching Facebook market place for a Mini Cooper S, a 2010 S was listed as Free, seen that a lot by Thai sellers, no comment, yes very good condion under 100,000klms and yes there was a price further down the add, guy shoots back with something in the range of 780,000, reliped that's expensive for a 14 year old S, the owner gets back to me, but "special colour", to end it I say, owned two in the past that there is nothing special about his colour S and at 14 years old good luck trying to sell it...
  3. The ex holds all the cards, she can make it easy or make it hard, she will feel she doesn't have to move, he has a problem, her village and her land, she aint going nowhere, like a few here suggested he move, which would be my choice as id feel a lot more secure where she is not, ask for the divorce likely she will ask for some sort of settlement, if you dont want too settle, you can and I would if I was staying put put up a big fence around the house you live in with a new unshared driveway, if you decide to leave because she's giving you a hard time consider pulling the buildings down on the day you leave....you could also use the fact you own the buildings for her to pay you to leave them, for the rest of you guys who want to plonk a house on the gfs/wifes land build a place on stumps in sections that could be dismantled and taken away, a house dont need to be on a concrete slab and built with concrete block, metal sub floor and light weight cladding insulated same same...

  5. You are conditioned to back home, this is the Wild West over road rules, just yesterday out on the bike with the gf when 2 if 14 yer old boys pulled up besides us on a motorbike, I turned to the baby face kid and said you dont have a licence with a smile on my face, didnt understand, the gf translated my message they just smiled, pointed to my helmet meaning you should consider one, just another smile as they road off into he sunset... The other day I actually seen what I would assume to be a highway patrol policeman on a BMW bike, only the second time in 2 ys.....took a pic as It was such a rare occurrence....the only time you see traffic police is when there doing licence checks......for motor bikes....
  6. Its the times, seen a great vid a few years back by Robert Reich, has a YouTube channel these days, was involved in the Clinton administration, his back ground is economics, easy to understand though he is a democrat through and through lot of sense he said in that vid. Was saying the world is at 1938 referring to the economics of that time and how the data stacks up today, as we know then there was a rise of right wing governments and one of the main reasons was the fact the middle classes had been screwed...we are there again, many right wing governments voted to power in recent times, world seems very unstable, lot of unhappy people, lot of negative types around right now, and its to do with a few things, one how the middle classes have been screwed again, making a lot of unhappy people who will protest on anything, put a few more bucks in there pockets pretty sure they will forget about invasion day etc.
  7. Diverse landscape? you are kidding me, temperate/frezzing cold in the south to lush tropical to the point of sweat dripping off your face after 5 min in the north and everything in-between, deserts, some of the best beaches in the world, we are an island you know. I still giggle when I read people refer to Thai beaches as some of the best, mate even Saint Kilda beach 30 years ago was better than the best Thai beach. We even have snow in winter and you can go skiing in a few places..... Every type of forests you can think off....and those creepy crawlies you never see....
  8. Just had cataract surgery not up with the terminology of what I got just took the docs recommendation after I asked a few questions, my long vision is pretty good now no need for glasses for driving walking around etc, but for reading yes, though its changed from before, will do the other eye next month and looking forward to it...
  9. Fires are in Maynamar and Cambodia as well, bit rough to dump it all on the Thai's.
  10. We get lured into a false sense of security buying online, I won't buy anything significant again online, unless its a major store and then im happy to go there, plenty of cheaper copy stuff works fine this crappy air purifier wasn't, one speed, filter looked like something out of car, meant to be 2.5 etc etc, clunky control panel, as I said the one I had back home from a major company was 6 times the size for a similar space, and worked fine for a few years before I came here, any way its selling something for a fairly high price pretending its from a major company probably cost a third of the price sitting in you room thinking its giving you clean air when its hardly working, and you were ripped off and the guy selling it to you runs around BKK in his BMW 5 series. Yes I bought a air purifier from Home Pro yesterday like I should have in the first place, checked at Power Buys then Index mall first all had something I was interested in and in the end bough what I got, 5 year warranty does 60 sq m and its 6 to 7 times the size of that copy one ahh and of course a hell of a lot more expensive, I will say im not up with air purifiers so protest naivety but now buying my second realise that almost 1600 B would be a tiny thing that sits on your desk as your working assuming its genuine... Not against using online stores just for low cost items, if theres a loss its not to much and easy to take. I have bought quite a lot of items through Ali Express and Lazadas, all low cost items around $AU5 to $AU15 but the first time on both sites I spend around $AU100 I got burned...go figure that...
  11. Dont, just got delivered a 1500+B air purifier, I highly suspect its counterfeit, cant find a model description on the boxing, the manual is very very so basic its not possible to be a Sharp! Looked for a replacement filter nothing that resembles it comes up anywhere, did a google of Sharp air purifiers again nothing like the one I just received shows up anywhere. One speed, claims to do 49sq m, that should have raised my antennas, why not 50 or 45? size of 2 1.5lt coke bottles, had one back in AU doing 50 sq m approx was 6 to 8 times the size... As you know lot of dirty air around now, my old one would go from blue to red while cooking, this thing didnt even detect cooking..ahhhhhhhhhhh Contacted seller to return, lesson learned anything over 3 to 400 just go to Home Pro etc. And yes I got burned 120AU$ in Ali Express on a retuned item that clearly was junk (the claimed to never have received the returned item and Ali Express left me for dead because I was not quick enough to respond to an email with return post office number so left to deal with the seller) so the moral of the story is for bigger ticket items unless you are buying from someone like Home Pro direct just go buy direct instore.
  12. We are watching from afar, the Australian press back in 2016 was making mr Trump look like well....so when I found myself out of news for 2 weeks in Havana then collecting my case at Mexico City air port with tv screens in all directions flashing Trump it became obvious he won the election, shock, this time around everyone is a lot more guarded can he win? no idea but seriously if he did I might see my investments take another nose dive...is he good for the US or the world?
  13. Well if you are not an American the fact such a person can get away with what he does and half the country supports him even after 6 plus years of it, it is still unbelievable leaving us in awe and with our mouths wide-open....
  14. I went through Pacific Cross and originally had a Cigna policy, 3M cover, it changed to Chubb during that year, after the first year there was a steep jump in premium so I asked Pacific Cross for alternatives, they came up with CHUBB SIGNATURE CARE PLAN, I took the 700,000 cover per year plan, yes a bit low but I hope I die before I get very sick, life has been kind to me so I recon im ok on this, for your age your looking under 60,000 a year, better than having nothing, suggest you get in touch with Pacific Cross....not Chubb, the office isn't working to well at the moment, just had a cataract procedure, the hospital tried to make a claim on my behalf but it was rejected, phoned them to find out why they said they would get back to me, took a second phone call to get yes your covered but you the patient is expected to pay the hospital bill and then make a claim, good luck.
