Try convincing the 92,000 petitioners demanding the resignation of LA mayor Karen Bass. While you at it you might want to notify Newsom's supporters that this is all all ploy by the forces of maga to sabotage his presidential ambitions. Better hurry before the real story spreads like wildfire. Pun intended.

Looks like I am not the only one noticing the age difference. -
Yes, it is unconscionable that the tax loopholes exist. The Citizens United decision has made it all the more difficult to fix. Tons of money fighting change. Rather doubt it if front line McDonald's workers would pay any federal income taxes and most likely little or no state income taxes. However, I see the point you make.

Appreciate your information. The fact is the situation is not only due to climate change, but also to building in areas that are prone to wildfires. Similar to building next to a shoreline prone to damaging high surf. The insurance companies know this, hence ridiculously high premiums, cancellations or no available coverage.

The sad thing about food stamps is some of the things it covers, like soft drinks, sugar laden candy and cookies, etc. Before the advent of EBT cards, food stamps were traded like currency to buy illegal drugs, tobacco and alcohol. Medical insurance is another area where there is so much waste. People going to the doctor for minor ailments because they have cheap or free medical insurance. Also the amount of fraud is unbelievable.

It would be interesting to see the statistics that compare how much the U.S. contributes in aid to illegal immigrants, the U.N. and its many agencies, and international disaster relief, to other G20 countries. Have I missed any other similar contributions? Maybe this might shed some light on where all the money is going to.

Palisades Fire in LA has zero containment
Hawaiian replied to John Drake's topic in Political Soapbox
There are all types of roofing in the U.S. Wood shingles and shakes are popular in some parts of the country. They are very flammable unless treated with a fire retardant. Same thing with old houses with asphalt shingles. Think tar paper shacks. If you like the looks of a "shingled" roof, ceramic tile and slate are much, much better options. Then there are various types of metal roofs in various patterns. Most common are corrugated and standing seam. As a general contractor in Hawaii I built homes with most of what I listed, except for slate. -

They have no more rights than I do, so why should they deserve special recognition? Some of my best friends are gays and lesbians and they don't flaunt it. Two of my best tenants are lesbians with whom I have more than tenant/landlord relationship. In fact I will be visiting them tomorrow with a few gifts. My girlfriend, who happens to be Thai, also thinks they are great people. She would be joining me also if she didn't have to work. You need to stop insinuating that I am a maga person because I don't subscribe to your warped agenda. Go preach your garbage to some one else. -
