Yes many things working against them: Like the cities deliberate destruction of what was a nice draw for tourism along the beach. For making a wasteland that benefited contractors/kickbacks. And of course for some behind this glorified road, the beach was made very inhospitable to foreigners rendezvousing with the local women.

Good Jomtien is a very much nicer environment. Actually kind of like Pattaya beach used to be. You don't have to wait 30 minutes to safely cross Beach Rd. No lowlife local males on motorbikes on promenade, No endless construction projects, none of these happy ---- events on the beach one after another.

April is starting low season for tourism. Have a look at who all are causing the traffic jams, it's Thais in these cars not tourists. There also has been major increase in motorbikes here. Again with Thai drivers. Then combined with endless roadwork is the traffic mess. -

Indeed - Pedestrian overpasses are the only safe way to cross the road without having to wait 20 minutes. If some don't want to use them for all these endless reasons, that's their problem.
