  1. So they had no evidence of this in the past but now they do have evidence of what exactly? Did they find some missed cctv footage out on the lake? I have to wonder if having life insurance is now an automatic murder charge when someone dies, there had better be some solid evidence in this case or the life insurance industry is going to be in big trouble. Edit: We should bear in mind that if they had any evidence prior to this then they would have simply asked Thailand to return him which they would have done by cancelling his visa and putting him onto a plane like they often do.
  2. He wasn't thinking at all, like most of the posters here
  3. He was in the domestic terminal, you think they fly to Australia from there? Even if he had a separate flight on to Australia from BKK he would have needed to go through international level security again.
  4. They may have been relics from old wars, explosive parts removed so only empty shells. People collect this kind of stuff all the time. Of course, if they were not properly prepared then it would be very dangerous to handle such things, especially as they appear to be very old if those images are the items in question here.
  5. The pharmacy I use in Hua Hin has a sign instructing people NOT to remove shoes before entering - it's in English and you can't miss it. It's not her home, it's a public place of business and she understands that.
  6. Nobody is required to remove shoes in public spaces. When was the last time you saw a thousand pairs of shoes outside a busy shopping mall?
  7. Indeed. These are public places, not private spaces - there is a big difference. I don't like removing my shoes when entering anywhere which is a public place and never do. Why? Because my $200 shoes have laces, are hard to replace when stolen as I need to order them from the US and I also wear socks all the time - with zero exceptions. So I am expected to either remove the socks as well or subject them to the 'filthy' floor inside the store - and yes, despite the no shoe rule the floors are absolutely filthy even though you can't see it. I know this because the time I did remove my shoes all the dirt collected on the socks I wear. So I've been in dozens of normal and high end restaurants over the last decade or two while in Thailand and nobody is ever requested to remove their shoes, all the staff are wearing shoes as well.
  8. Yep 100% - there are people out there who will never drive on or near that road again.
  9. Indeed, I understand the math, there's probably more chance of crashing on the flight into Bangkok that having a lump of concrete landing on the car - but it's the Thai Mrs who is insisting on this. She's not alone - from what she's saying that route must be the fastest highway in the country these days as half the country are now actively avoiding the route for 'reasons'. Bad spirits, bad mojo - you name it - it's all there!
  10. I'm in Cambodia at the moment. No visa issues here at all. Lets not forget what Vietnam did in 2017 to 2018 - relatively recently - they altered the visa rules to make it very hard for foreigners to live there unless married to a local, etc. Many left as they couldn't renew visas. Effectively they kicked everyone out - just before COVID hit - their timing was perfect. Now they want people back. They did it once and recently, why should we even consider this place due to its obvious hatred of the foreigner? There's been no change in government, so what gives? When will they do it again? Next week, next year? Who knows?
  11. People have always died from vaccination, it's long been established that this happens. The numbers are supposedly so low that it is accepted a small number of people will die from the vaccine but it will save far more lives than it ends or ruins. So you're trading one small set of peoples lives for another larger set of peoples lives. This is how they think. It's not the same set of people who die from the disease who would die from the vaccine - I think. It is a real life version of the 'trolley problem' as illustrated below - the choice was made to pull the lever and save the 5 people and sacrafice the 1 person - without action the 1 person would not be harmed :
  12. This is getting to be a real serious issue now. I am informed by the Mrs that many Thai people are 'outraged' about this situation and they will not drive near to this road any more and that was a week ago. This comes from Thai language gossip channels which Thai women love so much on facebook. I have been informed that when we return to Thailand from Cambodia the chauffeur must be instructed to drive an alternate route on our way to Hua Hin from the airport, a route that goes nowhere near this road. I told her she can handle it by speaking Thai to them when we book it. When something like this comes up I say it's a Thai problem - so needs a Thai to sort it out - seems to work 😜
  13. Even if they were very dim and didn't know the PDF was online they could have simply took out the phone and made a high quality photo of each page. This is nonsense. There is only 1 question : How do they know they operate Thai restaurants abroad?
  14. Do you need to be into religion and the church to watch it or would a godless heathen like me also enjoy it?
  15. Yes, I finished watching it about an hour ago, bit of a cliff hanger this episode!
  16. Yeah I guess, but lets not forget about the bank insurance reductions over the last few years in Thailand. Bank insurance levels in Thailand over recent years : 2008 - Whatever you've got = unlimited? 2011 - Reduced to 50 million Baht 2012 Reduced to 25 million Baht 2015 - Reduced to 15 million Baht 2016 Reduced to 5 million Baht 2021 - Reduced to 1 million Baht. They're getting ready for something.....
  17. Indeed, some of them offer far larger payouts - suspiciously high. Look into the rabbit hole that is named 'MSTY' But one of the more normal ones is Kraken where you can bond your currency for 30 days and receive 6.5%, they make the money to pay this by lending it to crypto traders who use leverage - the safety net here is that when they (the traders) lose it all it's just grabbed back - the interest rates they charge these borrowers is far in excess of 6.5%. Now I don't know if this rate varies depending on your balance but this is just plain old USD sitting in a trading account on a crypto exchange that's been going since about 2012 or 2013 - a very long time. The pay out weekly and as such it goes directly into the allocated 'pile' of your USD that's earning 6.5% per year immediately. So you get weekly payments, put a million dollars in there are you can soon find yourself earning a couple of million Baht per year from this alone, compounded weekly. The 30 day notice period when you cancel it does not pay any interest at all though so that needs factoring into the calculation. There's more than one way to make money out of the crypto industry and you don't even need to own any.
  18. These are the same clowns who seize peoples phones and laptops at their leisure after stealing them from people entering the country often for no known reason. They demand passwords to everything including cloud services, you'd better remember them all or you're going to be arrested immediately.
  19. Yeah, I read something along those lines as well Getting phone calls to work in Teams usually requires business licenses for everything meaning Microsoft 365, Phone services and Teams which all come with their own monthly fees - it's a business service - they want to see a website based on what I've read. But the Skype dialpad should appear when the date comes. We shall see.....I'm not relying on it and already swapped over to MicroSIP software with a VOIPStudio monthly account.
  20. They should be taken from the court to a place of cremation and burned until dead, dead, dead. Put them in a box, press the button and whatever comes out a few hours later can be crushed and flushed
  21. This guy can't keep out of the news lately, first the Nestle / Nescafe issues and now this. It's never a good idea to annoy powerful enemies, especially if you have some skeletons. Lets see how many days he does inside.
  22. Correct so it doesn't matter if he's tax resident or not. But if some auditor decides he owes tax on it then it's best to keep documents proving the source of funds - accountants get very excited over 'source of funds' these days. It's almost like they get together and make up a load of rules for us to enrich the accountancy profession. Source of funds does matter because if that 100k Euro came from selling some shares you bought 30 years ago in Apple then you're being taxed on it if resident in the year when they were sold. If it's an inheritance then there is no tax, plus it would already have been taxed in the source country. Also small amount so irrelevant
