Narita (Tokyo) airport restaurants still closed?
ukrules replied to NorthernRyland's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
Japan is right now at this time undergoing a massive surge in COVID with both cases and deaths at peaks matching or higher than anything that came before now. It's unclear if it's peaked yet, it may be at the peak right now but it's hard to tell from charts.... It's a massive BA.5 wave, it shows up on the normal stats sites and is mentioned in the world news, here's a little link that mentions the current 7th wave in Japan : https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2022/08/16/national/covid-deaths/ So they may have relaxed things a little but be prepared for the unexpected as it is a rapidly developing situation over there and it's happening right now. Lets hope this is not an indication of things to come elsewhere as it's not looking so great over there.... -
Blacklisted due to Cannabis

I guess that depends on how long it's been since he last attempted to enter Thailand and when they introduced the biometrics systems. -
If anything I do aligns with what society expects then it's largely coincidence.

What Movies or TV shows are you watching (2022)
ukrules replied to CharlieH's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Indeed, I once read a review for a movie on IMDB and someone wrote a review complaining that in order to follow the movie he had to actually use his brain and think. He didn't like that one bit - the result being - 1 out of 10 for the movie..... -
This is one of my long standing gripes - it's destroying things slowly but surely everwhere they roll it out. Auditing peoples bank accounts is fine if they want to move and live in a country permanently - doing the same thing for someone who wants to go on holiday is absolute insanity.

Some people do self insure and it's definitely not a fantasy, they are not however what you might call normal people. We're talking about people with many millions of USD or equivalent available - and in my opinion that's what it takes to self insure.

It's not over.

Interesting Immigration attitude at Swampy today
ukrules replied to Regyai's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
It doest not matter what they think - the law is clear on that PE visa - 1 year stamp every time you enter - nothing more, nothing less. If they give you any hassle speak to the boss and it will be cleared up very quickly. -

It's not his job to keep immigration happy (nobody cares what they think) - you've got that mixed up completely - it's their job to keep the tourists happy- 122 replies

What makes you think it's mostly passed? If you know the actual end date do tell....you seem to think you know everything else

It remains 'advice' - it's not law so essentially it's meaningless. Who actually goes to any government for 'advice'?

I have several UPS units around the house, a small one for my main ISP router and separate units for the main computers I use. The only issue I have is you can't stop the things from beeping constantly during a power outage.

Yabba is everywhere in Thailand, there's an almost zero chance that it's not in your village. I've seen it sold on the streets of Khao Takiab, by Thais to foreign tourists.
