I can’t comment on that, all can say is that this is March 2017 about 1 year after laying it and this is today so the plastic makes a big difference.

A decent phone for 5,000 baht?
sometimewoodworker replied to Elkski's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
Not only that but you will get OS and security updates for anywhere from 5 to 8 years from initial release date, so I would expect your phone to be supported at least for the next 2.5 years and useable for several more. -
That works, if you add a layer of blue plastic or shade cloth before adding the stone it will red the soil that will migrate upwards.

The main university agricultural department are the people to ask, if you have a large university, then it’s very likely that the agricultural professors will have a side business in providing the kind of work that you want as training for their students. Also the army provides training to its conscripts on those subjects, so see if you can find out if they can help.

Well HRH R9 instituted the erosion control program. So you say “some” vertiver and limited solution. Without actually giving any details about when, how much, care of the grass etc HRH was certainly of the opinion that correctly planted & and with good management it was a good option. There are likely to be temporary solutions while the grass takes hold. However you should approach the people who actually study the subject, for us that is Khon Kaen university agriculture department . But you have kept your location secret by not filling in your profile, so I have no idea if it’s near you. You could also ask the military as they run courses for the conscripts on farming

256 gb Lazada SD card, is it legit?
sometimewoodworker replied to Don Chance's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
Sure the price of 1 stang per GB vs 6 to 12 Baht is a bit of a giveaway, isn’t it? ???? I’m transferring the data using a real 2TB SSD, it’s going to take about 17 minutes -
256 gb Lazada SD card, is it legit?
sometimewoodworker replied to Don Chance's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
FWIW. I just got a 2Tb xiaomi branded USB A/C stick. The write speed is incredibly slow, at least with small files. I transferred 69k of files that were 22.2GB of data and while the transfer was successful as far as I know it took several hours, I don’t know how long because I left it running overnight. The read speed is better but still not great. So it is possible that I did get a 2Tb memory stick but to test it with data will take weeks, but then it is ok for transferring very few small files from my desktop to my iPad. It’s a shame as the build quality is really good, but it was so ridiculously cheap I didn’t even expect that it would work at all. So value for money? Probably A usable item? Probably not. Should anyone buy it? No. -
@dj230 I made no comment about the availability of Apple batteries. Batteries are in general a commodity item, so the price is a reasonably good guide to quality, though if you get a branded battery you can have confidence in the quality. As to a glued down battery a little isopropyl alcohol will allow that to detach reasonably easily, or you can get the iFixit Adhesive Remover if you prefer that. it should take under 30 minutes. Typically you should expect to pay in the region of ฿3,000 +- 10% for the battery or about 50% of the apple replacement price

If you can get an Apple battery the MacBook Pro isn’t difficult to take apart, assuming you have the tools, to fit a battery. Apple will do it for you. the 15” is the same cost

Where to buy marker strips for MCBs?
sometimewoodworker replied to OneMoreFarang's topic in The Electrical Forum
The way that professional elections in the U.K., possibly US do it is to use an actual label printer. The most well known are the Brother ones -
I agree, I don’t know of any private house that has one and certainly none that have an area of about 12 by 7 meters and a lift capacity of about 2.5 meters. So a "special case"? Probably, possibly unique in Thailand. Though I’m sure that there are quite a few mobile cranes in private houses, for example engine cranes.
-
For the average house absolutely, but for my house, not so much. I have several devices that individually draw 3kW (not AC, water heater, washing machine or cooker) I will sometimes be using more than 2 at a time so I not only have 4mm2 cable for those circuits but several of them.

256 gb Lazada SD card, is it legit?
sometimewoodworker replied to Don Chance's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
Did you check that by copying 512Gb of data onto the cards? I ask because it is known that it is perfectly possible to fix cards so that they lie and report a capacity they don’t have. -
You can enter visa exempt twice in a single calendar year if coming by land. There is no specific limit if you come by air, however the periods you spend, and have spent, in Thailand, the number of day you spend outside Thailand and the number of entries and reason for entering will all factor into how easy it is to pass immigration and if the IO will be asking a lot of questions. At the moment any visa exempt entry until until 31st March will get 45 days, it is possible that the cutoff date maybe extended.

And where are you getting the flow rate from??? Yes a ½” May have a theoretical ability to supply 11gpm but for that you need sufficient pressure to enable it. you still don’t demonstrate that you understand the relationship between maximum potential flow and real flow at the low pressures available in Thailand. for an actual flow of 11gpm you need sufficient pressure to enable it. as one tag says “I can explain it to you, but I can't comprehend it for you”
-
Since you quoted an idea from @FriendlyFarang I probably want some of what you are drinking or smoking. You are living in a fantasy world, the usual is ½” I am not inventing the legal minefield you are advocating. Pumping from the mains is illegal. he doesn’t have a house, do keep up. Or give me some of you substance. Any pump will create a reduction in pressure, didn’t you pass physics 101? Virtually all water supply authorities will vigorously disagree, many governments will also they’ll you that you are wrong. You clearly don’t understand the difference between pressure and flow, so physics 101 remedial is needed.
-
With the generally low pressure of most of the Thai mains supply the chance of a pump getting the pressure negative is far from unlikely
-
Of course the instant water heater requires a positive pressure, usually higher than 1 bar, for the pressure and flow sensors to allow the heater to function. I have a reasonably competent knowledge of water flow and the requirements of plumbing. You are confusing me with another poster. You are, from your post, totally unable to understand that a pump will by it’s very nature creates a higher pressure on the outlet side while simultaneously reducing pressure, possibly to a negative pressure, on the inlet side. This negative pressure, that is illegal, will start sucking water on the supply side from anywhere it can the toilet bucket, which was not my posting, is the least offensive source, far nastier are the cracks and badly joined pipes of the PWA, this allows wonderful anaerobic bacteria and other nastiness to be sucked back into the water supply. The Thai water supply operates on a low level pressure system compared to more developed nations this means that pumping directly from the mains is more dangerous. I had thought that the majority of your posts were at least competent but this one Shows you have no knowledge of the subject and a cavalier disregard of the safety of others. If you want to poison yourself, feel free. If I know of people who are trying to do the same to me I will be doing everything I can to get them provided with free food and accommodation.
-
You are misreading the information. You can not pump directly from the PWA supply, there must be a storage tank between the PWA supply and any pump. As you live in an apartment it is quite possible that the apartment complex may have water storage, if so then there is no problem using a water heater with its own pump or a separate pump. But despite the statements of some idiotic members if there is no tank between the PWA supply and any pump you are breaking the law of PWA regulations and risk contamination of everyone’s water supply. the illustration of a toilet water bucket is rather nice compared to sucking bacteria laden water from cracks in the pipes
-
As has been commented you do not need a DC pump AC pumps start from about 1.000 You need a tank, sucking from the mains is against PWA rules and is dangerous to you and your neighbours. Yet you are arguing! Any pump sucking from the mains is not permitted. No such range of pumps are available in Thailand except imported one’s, probably stoped by regulations from the PWA/MWA Jet pumps are for well use, and you can’t have been using the correct search terms as there are many, possibly hundreds, of AC boost pumps and jet pumps. virtually any domestic pump can act as a boost pump. They are only not a boost pump if the water source is lower than the pump. Few pumps are specifically listed as boot pumps as it is obvious from the description of the water supply system that that is what they are. A shower heater only provides about 6l a minute. I hardly think that will produce any negative pressure in, say, a 1" supply pipe running at the minimum 1 PSI. It doesn’t matter what your opinion is or if it is correct because the PWA rules, possibly even law, prohibits sucking from the pipes, these rules are in place for excellent reasons and are anything but arbitrary.

That was rather less qualified than it should have been. I don’t actually have any idea of your actual knowledge and should not have impugned it in that way. I should have said that you do not convey the knowledge you have in a safe way and seem to assume far more background knowledge in the audience than exists. So as an electrical contractor you may well have been superb but as a communicator that knowledge certainly doesn’t come across
-
They are certainly recognised by you as such many others will have a different opinion. You must support them to bolster the fact that with Ranking of the countries with the highest quality of electricity supply in 2019 Australia isn’t even in the top 20, even being beaten out by Kazakhsian To give good advice you have to be careful of the fact that cherry picking certain sections is actually going to make things more dangerous not less so thus while your statements are true in Australia they can be deadly in Thailand where Australian building regulations aren’t in effect and the audience you are speaking to may think that because you have been an electrical contractor for years you actually know what you are talking about and your advice should be followed when that’s only true for colonial cousins in Australia or for a building built to strict Australian building regs.

How to extend the shelf life of eggs
sometimewoodworker replied to Mickeymaus's topic in International Food
One very important point is that if you ever refrigerate your eggs you must use them directly from the fridge, if you let them come back to room temperature you will allow bacteria like salmonella the opportunity to contaminate the eggs.
