  1. No, unless you want a slow charge. For the maximum the power supply can deliver and the device can use, then it’s USB-C on both ends. One of my devices charges at 9v 35W on USB-C -> USB-C USB-A the “square one” you are limited to 5.5V 2.1A
  2. Absolutely correct. You can certainly ask but it’s likely that a refusal will be the reply. And that is dependent on location and airline.
  3. Anthisan Cream is my preferred one. However as with all bite creams it is most effective if used as soon as possible after the bite. The longer after the bite the lower the effectiveness. Use immediately, and it will stop itching in minutes, use it next day and the itching will last for hours or days.
  4. The industrial sheeting used by truck drivers will do the job. It is very heavy duty (probably PVC) As it’s so well made it will easily fall down into the cavity, if you have access at the ends you will be able to tie it down. These sheets are available it a verity of sizes, l’m sure there are ones longer than 4 metres. They are not cheap but very effective, I bought a small one that is about 2 x 3 metres. Your only problem will be finding the shops that sell them.
  5. Like this or this? having the top version and having worn it enough times that it needs replacing, I can tell you that after using it I needed a shower without it.
  6. It is definitely poorly done but there is no danger unless you splash water on the heater itself. Should it be done properly? Of course. Could you manage to electrocute yourself if you try hard? Maybe. Is it worth creating a a problem by demanding the landlord fix it? No Should you spend your money? There is no guarantee that it is going to be safer if you do, it may just look safer. If I were renting I think that the wiring like that could be argued to be safer, as nobody in their right mind would let water even splash onto the heater. There are far worse wiring jobs than that.
  7. No the on screen keyboard is enough for me and ฿13,990 is a little expensive and I hate typing, my case was about ฿1,500 Personally I would never use my iPads without a cover, they do get dropped or knocked over, so far with over 10 years of virtually several hours every day I have yet to crack a screen.
  8. It’s interesting the tips you can get from automotive repair videos, but don’t forget the seal tape as the dielectric grease by itself is probably not sufficient, but the grease stops the problems with electrical tracking and the tape keeps the grease in.
  9. For low voltage low current that will also work and be easier than the dielectric grease and seal tape.
  10. Yes forget the 2 kinds of tape and substitute them with this. It is as close to waterproof as you can get. Also use dielectric grease to seal the screws
  11. As it’s a retrofit I wouldn’t, but as a new installation I would.
  12. I finally replaced the iPad Air 2 October 2014 with an iPad Pro 12.9-inch (5th generation) (Wi-Fi + Cellular) that has the XDR display with mini-LED and M1 cpu So I jumped a lot of generations, I expect this one will will last another 5+ years i think it’s quite likely that you would find a reasonable second hand shop in Surathani. I too wouldn’t buy in Thailand without actually being able to inspect and check a device. But at a repair cost of 2,500 Baht a repair is probably worthwhile and I would choose a repair. I hope you will be buying or have a case.
  13. The 7th generation Introduced September 2019, Discontinued September 2020 as an iPad is a capable machine, but as a 32 GB machine it’s very limited, you have free backup of 5GB and for a tiny monthly sum can increase it to 50GB, you can use this iCloud backup to exchange photos. It’s difficult to recommend between replacement and repair, there are shops selling used iPads and I would never suggest that a 32Gb device is a suitable purchase. I suggest looking at an 8th generation with 125GB or 9th generation with 256GB and compare that with the repair cost. There are different quality screens available, so that is usually what makes the difference in repair costs. I vital point that a screen replacement (if not done by an Apple dealer) stands a chance of munging the Touch ID so you need a guarantee that it will still work after repairs.
  14. Why would you not run an earth to any equipment, specially out doors, no matter what the voltage, AC or DC?
  15. The shorter lifespan is really quite simple. iPads typically get 7~8 years of system updates Android get 2~4 years The variations are usually due to the purchase dates It is not that I am saying that the android/windows tablets have lower quality hardware (they may have, I don’t know) I know, from the performance of my oldest devices, that apple hardware is excellent. The life span is a factor of the number of System updates that a device gets, because though with the updates it gets slower it can still run all the latest software. From the date you mentioned you have an iPad Air 2 and it runs iPadOS 15.7. I have one of those and it’s only because I damaged the screen that I decided to replace it at the end of last year. if you have a 6th generation, then it’s not an iPad Air and it was Introduced March 2018 Discontinued September 2019 and it will run the current iOS. If it’s the 6th generation and you got a sensible amount of memory when you bought it, make sure you have 40% free and it will have no problems. Reinstall Farcebook and Whats App and it should be good. you will hear little from Microsoft surface users, the hardware has multiple reports of problems, I haven’t heard good reviews of them. You will hear from android users who are happy with high end tablets and from users of cheap slow ones who like them
  16. Physically, no different. Stylistically, some would say very different. Also some would not want the same surface texture on them all.
  17. If the iPad Air is the original then it was sold from October 2013 And Discontinued March 2016 so it’s not surprising that she is having problems with Facebook access and Whats App. If it’s a much later version then it is quite possible that there is not enough free memory (over 20Gb will give the best results). FWIW my sister-in-law complained that her iPad 3 was extremely slow so she was going to replace it, I deleted unnecessary programs and photos until there was 50% free space, it is now as good as it ever was and perfectly usable. So lack of free space could be the problem anyway. So while you don’t want another iPad the 10th gen Wi-Fi 256Gb is 24,000 and for your wife’s use it would be perfect. The only thing is no sd card slot i can’t comment on android tablets but if you really want one then your budget is probably good for a reasonable one, though it’s lifespan will be shorter than an iPad.
  18. You can’t accept that you are wrong, see under. You have found a limit to creating accounts, congratulations, that limit is virtually redundant and irrelevant because it doesn’t stop you using iCloud. You can’t accept that your statement is false and misleading
  19. As i said previously I don’t know for sure I don’t have a new device to check It may do I suspect that for a free account not created on the device, no it doesn’t For a free account created on the device that may well, probably is, true That is badly worded and as worded is wrong it is quite possible that there is the limit of three free iCloud accounts to be created. It is not true that you can only log into iCloud on a maximum of 3 accounts. The reason for the delay in responding to your post is that I was logging out of then logging into accounts on one of my devices and I had to refresh the iCloud accounts. So categorically you can sign into at least 4 iCloud accounts. I see no reason that the Apple tech is not correct and there is no limit to the number of iCloud accounts (not created on the device) that you can sign into. I could create more free accounts but see no point probably Correct, as far as I can see, but irrelevant as you can use a different (already created) account. From your own link “Please note that there is no limit to how many accounts you can have on a device. As long as an iCloud account exists, you can use it even if the 3 account limit was reached. This means that you can create a new iCloud account elsewhere and use this account to sign in to this device. In other words, you can use your Apple ID to set up iCloud on another Apple device, iPhone, iPad, or Mac.”
  20. So given that the overwhelming majority of people here are living in Thailand and rely on people who are actually trained for advice, yours while AFIK is correct, is not of much use, is confusing and seems rather dated. There are few RCDs the majority are RCBOs. ELCBs from my reading are deprecated in domestic installations in favour of the RCBO. Probably, specifically because correct earthing is not assumed You seem to say, from the first sentence, that installing any breaker type on a (line and neutral only) lighting circuit is pointless as it’s never going to trip. it’s quite likely that you abbreviated your explanation but if so it became, like an IBM manual, only intelligible to some one who know exactly how to wire circuits correctly.
  21. 1 & 2 should be self evident, but certainly worth noting. However as this is Thailand not the U.K. vanishingly few lighting circuits have an earth (probably true for many power circuits as well, but we will ignore them for the moment) so in these cases how can loop impedance be measured or calculated? i understand that in the U.K. the situation is different today but in the past, and probably in older instances, it was the same AFIK.
  22. While you may have found it that doesn’t mean that it’s so simple to find. A URL would be helpful. That is clearly incorrect as all iPhones come with an OS and no iCloud account. Though that may be a special case, and as I mention under I haven’t installed an iOS for a long time, so can neither confirm nor refute the statement. So I don’t know for sure. To be sure if that statement is correct, or is not correct, I would have to have a new iPhone/iPad that has had not been started. This is not something I do on a regular basis, roughly once every 2 to 4 years and though I don’t positively recall the process I think it’s not correct. Again I don’t know for sure. I certainly have installed a Mac OS on frequent occasions and for the Mac it is certainly not true, but then the question is about an iPhone/iPad, so it may not be relevant. That is definitely incorrect. The Apple statement is that it can only ever create 3 free accounts accounts. So create an account on a Mac or sign into an account that has been created on a different device. There is no limit to the number of accounts that you can sign into (though naturally you will need to sign out before signing into a new account) Correct, as far as I can see, but irrelevant as you can use a different (already created) account. That is rather dismissive, Google is not authoritative and first tier techs know how to find the information that they have, they may not have the detailed knowledge of a product specialist but the vast majority of questions or problems don’t need to be escalated. I have worked in tech support on a reasonably high level and while no company is precisely the same the first line techs do an excellent filter job. Apple first line techs can often give the required information, do an excellent job and know when to refer the questions.
  23. You are missing the point that there is no requirement for an Apple ID to be created on a device. you are welcome to create an AppleID using a computer, you are welcome to link that AppleID to your device. I have not created an AppleID on any iOS device AFAIR I am not sure that the 3 accounts are correct as I was told 5, but the exact number is not material. I would like the link to the policy or if it was by mail then a copy (identifying information redacted of course) so I can go back with my case number to get clarification. I still think that my conclusion is correct, this doesn’t invalidate your information but does suggest that the conclusion is inaccurate in that there is no limit to the number of times a device (not linked to an Apple ID) can be wiped. Yes if you get to the limit you can’t create a new AppleID on that phone but nothing is stopping you linking an existing AppleID
  24. Incorrect the OS is not linked in that way. The device is linked so the suitability of the device is checked. The Apple ID is not required if the device is not linked already to an Apple ID It is highly unlikely that the MAC ID is the way that validity is established as MAC ID spoofing is simple If an iPhone/iPad (possibly others) is stolen or lost, if it has been registered with an Apple ID, you can erase the device but cannot install any Apple OS onto it. Hence it is bricked, I don’t know how to be more clear. Bricked Apple motherboards for most phones are easy to find and cheap because they are useless for anything but parts.
