  1. Hilton buffet?

i have been there four times in the last seven days

i never saw a large yellow member.....

    Four times in a week?

I'm guessing that you were the guy laying flat on his back getting a cardiac massage. Not surprised you didn't notice me. smile.png

i have a friend who goes every day

    including Sundays........

  2. I have a portfolio in Pattaya, Bangkok and Phuket and generate enough to keep the fridge full. But the only way it works is if you are debt free and have a reliable agent to manage the properties.

I have money in the bank and in other paper investments and they generate enough to keep the fridge full, pay my rent, and cover regular trips to the Hilton buffet also, along with all my other monthly expenses.

I do this without needing any agents, and without paying any commission to anyone.

I also do this without infringing any laws anywhere on the planet, and entirely in my own name.

    YMMV

  3. So they bring the chips when the boss is there.........

I usually don't tip much since there is a 10% service charge. Could it be an attitude issue?

I'm glad you brought that up. I have to admit that is one of the reasons I no longer visit Sunrise. I used to be a big fan and have spoken to Gil in person when I first started frequenting there. I was hoping to see him again after I realized the 10% + 7% was being added to the bill but never had a chance. Maybe he would like to address that here.

Do the employees get all of the 10% service charge that is added to the bill? Do the employees know they are getting a tip with every customer added to the bill? Do you think that maybe this is causing your staff to not perform at the level you are expecting? I know that myself and many others will not tip on top of a compulsory service charge. This is not a very liked practice among the expat community. If you are trying to market to the expat community and not just tourists then perhaps you should reconsider this policy of a compulsory service charge. Another thing to consider is including the vat charges in the menu prices.

    That's just my 2 cents.

I love your chips and the salsa bar is GREAT!

if the service is poor, tell them you are not paying it and you want the bill converted to a takeaway

that way the service charge does not apply......

Not sure to will fly since I seem to remember seeing the compulsory service charge listed on the take out menu.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not abject to tipping. I just want to be sure that all the tip is going to the service staff and that the staff is also aware of this.

i refused to pay for very poor service and that's exactly what the owner did

he barked out the instruction to the cashier in Thai and thought i would not understand

i am a big tipper for good service

does not happen much in Thailand though.......

  5. to be honest, I have been looking into this for several months and found that the majority of our "ideal markt" dont actually like Rap and hip hop any more than I do, and when I say disco I do mean the modern heavy bass, monotone stuff . there si plenty of it about on other stations so I would rather re- enforce our library with classic earlier stuff. Personally I dont like "I'm gonna slap my bitch to pieces " type stuff anyway. it has only succeeded due to its breaking barriers not listenability.

"lost in music"..., cool song smile.png

i had a listen yesterday, i liked it

any station that does not broadcast that heavy bass thumping is good enough for me

i hear it all the time from speaker loaded pickups, concerts across the lake, houses having parties etc

    personally it drives me mad

    i have my radio pre-set to 4 stations 88.5, 96, 103 & 105

on hearing the first bass BUMP, i switch station until its over.........

  6. It is a place where (farang) life itself is gradually having the life sqeezed out of it. Did a tour of the bar/restaurant life around the lake the other day, dead, dead dead, nothing,no customers whatever. Beautiful houses, top end ones up for rent as no possibility of selling (house of the year 2005 up for urgent sale,no chance) along with virtually every house your gaze settles on. Shame really, pre 2007 it was a spin off from the Pattaya building boom, cheaper place to own your dream in the sun. Can think of another place too that will go the same way,BS for sure

Those houses out there were always for suckers...I've driven around the area for years and never understood all the McMansions being build around the Maprachan mud-hole. Nobody with any smarts about Pattaya would ever have built/bought that far out.

that's pretty rich coming from someone who rents on Num Plab Wan..........

  7. From what I have read the big bang theory relies on the assumption that the rules of physics did not exist during the start of the big bang. A singularity appeared and then proceded to expand at a speed far in excess of light until it 'cooled' enough at which time the fundamental particles, forces and laws appeared. An over simplification to be sure but basicly that is the theory. Another thing to keep in mind is that infinities do appear in many fundamental quantum equations dealing with wave functions, physicits deal with this through a process called normalisation which basicly means removing the infinity.

we Klingons believe that the big bang was caused by a conspiracy of the Romulans (who have no honour!).

    tlhIngan Hol Dajatlh'a'?

  8. I talk with some woman in my village, she told me there are break ins happening like 2-3 times per year usually when people leave the house for longer time. She said it never happens if they stay in the house every day.

The house next to mine was broken in 2 years ago, but nobody stayed there.

I will definately make the alarm, But i would like some bars on front door at least so when I am at home I can leave the door open and not afraid somebody will walk in.....

Are the burglars nice and only take small things or they smash tvs, and stuff, make more damage?

I am just afraid for my laptop, because I have my work on it, so I need to find the solution to keep it safe somehow, Build a secret place or something to keep it there so burglars will not find it.

do you have a permit for that work..

  9. there is a guy in tukcom who repairs motherboards, graphic cards etc

he has done both for me

he is on the floor above the mobile phone store

he is on the left side as you look to the front of the building from the up escalator

he is the only one in the building that does this kind of work

so if you ask the computer guys who fixes motherboards in Tukcom

    then you will find him

other than that you could get a second hand example like yours on Ebay

i just looked and there are some on Ebay Uk

    good luck!

  10. yes, ok then......

proceed along third road, heading south

    past tonys various enterprises

past the junction with soi 17

travelling towards the flyover to Bali Hai

    about 200metres along

on the left side, a big aquatic shop

they make them in the back to order

  11. If you are a fish and chips lover you have to try the new 'Lakeside Chippy' on lake Mabprachan.

I know it is a bit of a drive out of town but it is well worth the effort - the fish and chips are fantastic.

Ok, I'll bite ... Lake Mabprachan is a large area, whereabouts is it? Price? More details?

12.924323,100.970857 about here on google maps, i dont eat the fish and chipes there anymore though.

    go one, i will bite.......

so why don't you eat the fish and chips there anymore ?

  13. It never ceases to amaze me that even the most innocuous of comments is ceased upon those who seem to harbour deep resentments against other posters and will seize up on any conceivable opportunity to have a pop at them.

Couldn't be further from the truth.

    sorry, do not agree

mobi's right, there are many cyber stalkers on this forum with a grudge to settle

    you know who you are........

There are 'ways' and 'ways' of disagreeing with someone without turning it into a personal attack or making snide remarks, however 'innocent' they may appear to be to the poster.

I made a light hearted comment about the time taken to fix power outages in Pattaya as compared to the UK and I was immediately attacked by two members, who disagreed with me.

My comment was obviously not intended to be taken too seriously, so a riposte in a similar vein would have been fine.

Or if anyone feels particlarly strongly that what I have written is particularly misleading, then do as one poster chose to do, write a polite and informative post, pointing out where I may have my facts wrong or that I do not have a proper appreciation of two very different situations.

Such a post was made by Smedly in post no. 28, which stuck to the facts and was polite, sensible and informative. And he effectively put me in my place without having to resort to getting personal.

Why can't everyone who disagrees with a post, reply like Smedly did without turning everything into a personal attack and so avoid the constant ill- feeling that pervades so many forum discussions.

And BTW, prefabs, I would be most delighted if you could kindly point out where I made a 'heartfelt apology'.

I may be getting old, my eyes may be getting dim and I may have trouble seeing when I forget to bring my specs with me, but I still like to think I can remember whenever I say 'sorry' someone to who has had a go at me.smile.png

    Peace to everyone....

As I said before, it's like trying to argue with a woman. Your defence of "light hearted comments" is for you and you only? No one else is allowed to make comments which are light hearted? Gimme a break, you got an unhealthy dose of paranoia or what. Timekeeper in post #43 was taking the mickey and you decided to get back on your high horse??? Lord Save us from the Sot

prefabs, i was not taking the mickey

i have had a number of cyber stalkers on this forum who jumped in and try to create a problem at any opportunity because i had bested them in the past on other issues

some are now banned because of their behavior, although some are still following me around waiting to pounce

so please do not put a different spin on my words than i intended just to support your dispute with Mobi

to clarify, i support Mobi in his claim when he says :

'' It never ceases to amaze me that even the most innocuous of comments is seized upon those who seem to harbor deep resentments against other posters and will seize up on any conceivable opportunity to have a pop at them''.
