  1. Navin Mansions behind Big C Extra ticks all those boxes......

Isn't there over 35 Big-C extras around Pattaya? Maybe giving the OP a little better location would help?

to echo Lennys contribution, there's only one Big C extra

we all know you have been gone, Gone, but do try to keep abreast of the facts before rattling your keyboard

  2. i have started to use Hollywood car wash on the south bound side of the railway road between junction of siam country club road and soi nung plab wan

180 baht for the fortuner, 160 for the Vigo pickup they did a good job on both

they also offer a buy 10 get one free promotion card

also an unusual offer to rewash it for free if it rains on your car within 24 hours of initial washing

not sure if i would want to test that out as not too many english speakers there but it is in writing on the receipt

they have on site food facilty as well while you wait

only drawback is if you do not want to wait on site there are no motorbike taxis stands on that stretch, so you have to walk to either junction to get one

I agree but the walk to SSCC for a motorbike take isn't really far however the was isn't long either. They do my motorcycle for 80 baht and I give the kids 100. They do a good job.

it takes longer for two cars

walking is not my thing either

  3. I've done a visa extension at Jomtien immigration and received change back automatically. No problem.

last time i did mine, i was asked three times at the three desks if i had my change back

maybe the new super is tightening up on these things.......

  4. I refuse to wear long pants in Thailand other than to extend my visa once a year.

Why would you need long pants to extend your visa?

In Chiang Mai, you have to have an interview with an immigration officer and Thais have a big thing about wearing shorts in formal meetings.

like Ulysses, i wear long trousers too at Chonburi immigration when making application

i see it as a respect thing and if it smooths the ride, so much the better....

  6. i've been there a few times and never saw any 100 baht fish & chips. 100 baht fish, yes, and chips extra.

The Jomtien one definitely still does F&C for 100B. It's very clearly advertised on the large menu on the wall. I had some last week and enjoyed them (though of course the fish is warm-water Dory or similar and so not up to cold-water haddock or cod standards). They also do fish fingers and chips for the same price.

Interestingly I walked past the Lengkee one the other day and couldn't see any mention of the 100B F&C anywhere. Maybe it's now in the small print or has been discontinued by the new owners.

its still available if you ask for it, except its now 120

    its still great value

huge dory and lots of fat chips

  8. The parking lot at Preecha is normally very full so that is one way to recognize it....arrive before 7pm as they get big crowds there and alot of the items sell out later in the evening

That's primarily Friday and Saturday nights. Though Sunday night can also be busy. During the week, it's perfect. Especially right at sunset time.

    Food's great and reasonable.

If you want a bit classier place, try Rimpa Lapin. Beautiful setting, just down the road from Preecha. More expensive, but very beautiful:

    +1 to that

    love it!

  9. Lets be honest most people who come to Pattay, and before any remark I said Most , are sex tourist here to abuse the poor girls.

You need to get out more, maybe even visit Pattaya.. 'abuse' You have to be kidding. Thousands of girls working in bars and more arriving every week. To be 'abused' ? 55555 Only if by 'abuse' you mean charging clueless tourists 4-5 time the minimum wage for an hours 'work' These same 'abusers' send money every Month, buy scooters, cars and houses and support sick buffalo's all over Isaan. Hardly abuse is it ? Only places I have ever seen indentured girls or girls forced to go with customers have been Thai owned and run brothel/Karaoke/massage places catering to Thai customers. When will the 'do gooders' wake up and realise how much money the Pattaya girls are making and how many love the lifestyle. Certainly better than being deceived, impregnated and then abandoned by an older relative or 'boyfriend' in the village.

How much would you expect to be paid for turning your body into a public convenience and bodily fluid receptacle for the relief of gross, aging, drunken dirty old farangs?

Besides the money, I will never understand how these women can do it. Surely they must be on drugs or something? Because I sure don`t understand these women or the minds of prostitutes?

    how much do you pay?

  10. AFAIK, the owner of Lone Star/Jolly Friar (the one near Buakaow) has been sold, Jolly Friar Jomtien had to be renamed because of that. Do not know if he is selling China Garden too, but I guess its likely.

I think not such good news for diners. Lonestar and Jolly Friar have been pretty good. Not a fan of China Garden though.

i was at jolly friar in Chaiapruk on friday

pretty much business as usual except the mushy peas were pretty bland and there was a number of harassed looking farangs running around, checking the tills, books etc

one assumes they will be the new owners and whilst one should not judge a book by its cover, I thought .........................

oh well , i liked it there too

  11. was anyone actually there (or on here) to witness the accused stoving in the victims head with a wheel brace?

Right. He probably just tripped and fell onto the wheel brace whilst getting out of his car to ask the nice man the way to the beach.

Noooooooo, he had the wheel brace clenched between his teeth in case he had a puncture. thumbsup.gif

another possible theory based on assumptions & speculation

    could have happened that way

so its a possibility and you weren't there so you don't know

Loosen up chum, it was a minor jest. rolleyes.gif

you are right, it was a minor jest.....

  13. And for some reason the PEA has moved the due date one day earlier.

For my.house it always used to be the 6 th of each month, for years already, now suddenly it's the 5th...

Looks like all over Pattaya as a friend living more then 10km away from me got caught out, trying to pay at 7/11 one day late not noticing the changed due date....

Sent from my GT-I9001 using Thaivisa Connect App

you are correct Monty, i live on the lake like you and just checked my last bill and its changed from 6th to 5th

i bet the electric company HO is busy this month........

  14. I'm in Naklua and we use True H. It's great until you hit the darned 5GB DL/UL limit. Then it is almost unusable. They say they cut you back to 128K but it's more like 20K at times. I was so hot one time that I went out a bought an AIS aircard for around 1000 and paid another 800 per month. This was because I used up the 5GB on True after about 20 days.

Anyway, you would be fine with either. I DL alot of movies and shows but probably you won't hit the 5GB limit.

i agree with that, i usually hit 5gb at around 20 days

i have another sim pre paid with 1gb at 350baht ready for when it happens

it takes me through to the day when CAT frees me from my bonds....
