  1. Agree with you, but there were also people on here gloating about how they didn't keep money in a Thai bank like us tiny fools on extensions. If they couldn't see this coming the were the only ones. Remember, be careful what you wish for/gloat over.
  2. You may at some point in the future need to give your bank your TIN to keep the account open bearing in mind the BoT being stricter about non resident accounts. SCB won't open a bank account now without a TIN. You may need a TIN in order to keep the account open in order to be able to show financial proof at extension time.
  3. Don't you have to get that at immigration - not automatic. Isn't it cancel WP at labour office on last day and then same day go to immigration to cancel visa? You apply for an extension and are given 7 days to get out stamp - without this you have to leave same day? Shows how welcome we are, we got your knowledge transfer, now get out.
  4. It seems that a major sticking point on the Thai section is that China is demanding property rights along the whole length. China out of the goodness of it's heart will not overburden Thai companies that could supply engineering, labour and components such as cement and steel, but instead will contractually specify purchase of everything needed, including labour, right down to railway sleepers and tracks from China.
  5. You could say that. Which country? The one that benefits from it or the one that took on debt to pay for it to the benefit of the other country? Oh, but you've been there. Train is great and is benefiting the country. Seems Jet Shrettha though of a Kraa land bridge all by himself and luckily the Chinese construction company had done enough work all by itself and was thus able to comment on viability for them. On reflection it will probably be better to build a canal that is large enough to accommodate oil tankers (and by lucky coincidence aircraft carriers too!). Not to worry if Thailand has trouble with the funding, kind hearted China will lend them the money. While we are here let's blast the shoals in the Mekhong so that ocean sized vessels can navigate it - think of all those ship loads of tourists!
  6. I'll let other AN members judge the credibility of this for themselves.
  7. How is it that these people condemning everyone else are always so familiar with the area - oh that's right they travelled all the way in from their Bt1,000 fan room in Bhang kae to eat at Took Lae Dee. ALWAYS they know the area but just go there for something else................
  8. You want to be careful with your accusations. Where did I mention women, or is that a stereotype you project onto others with no evidence? You of course are here for the temples, floating markets and handicrafts demonstrations and everyone else is a vile sexpat. This is where you have to come to be able to get a feeling of superiority? Couldn't manage that in your home country. Shame you can't go home.
  9. With a bit of luck a photocopy shop will have opened nearby.
  10. Those of us who lived it are like herons beside a dried out pond, we know there is nothing here anymore, but we don't know where to fly to.
  11. Further confirmation that you did not walk on the pavements (they are actually mostly Bangladeshi in the big all male groups).
  12. He joined AN as recently as Oct 6. Go figure. It probably comes across as a PR piece for a reason. PR that comes across as PR is very poor PR.
  13. You must have taken a hotel car with darkened windows to get between places. I suppose if you did that it might seem like your description.
  14. It is a 3rd world sh*thole now. Better renamed as Shoukhumvit. To add to your list: always 5 Bangladeshis in front of you, whether 7-11* or buying fruit or just walking on the pavement, whatever. Chinese wheelie luggage pushers blocking the pavements. * holding up the que every time with their: "my friend told them there is a special deal available" - staff: "no, it's just large or small, that's it".
  15. Swedes are normally placid, but we may see some lose it. Maybe send some riot police to Hua Hin.
  16. Wrong. 180 days within the calendar (also tax) year.
  17. Remind me: Why has it become so hard now to open a bank account?
  18. ...but not from wearing bots, a black T shirt, windcheater and shoulder holster it seems.
  19. No backing out, now.
  20. They could really stick it to us with that - tax clearance as a condition of extension too. We'd be like rats in a trap. Only way out would be unofficial land crossing and facilitated entry stamp across the border as used currently by unofficial entrants and overstayers. This being Thailand there would be minivans leaving every morning from BKK and Pattaya for this new visa service.
  21. Forgot to mention that if people wanted to go somewhere dominated by Bangladeshis, Russians or Chinese they would go to those countries.
  22. Forgot to mention that if people wanted to go somewhere overrun with Bangladeshis, Russians or Chinese they would go to those countries.
