  1. I don' see the Thai Government as being too worried about discrimination - not visited any national parks lately?
  2. I agree with this interpretation, but we could still get caught in the net.
  3. Most likely that you will be required to prove that in a worst case scenario.
  4. Sure, and you will be allowed to vote as well - no taxation without representation.
  5. That was really smart, a lot of foreign experts needed for Thailand's development decided they didn't want to work in "that country that won't let you out without a lot of paperwork".
  6. Don't think so. It can be eligible for tax under the existing tax laws. If you live here more than 180 days and are transferring money from overseas income in the tax year it is earned you are eligible for tax.
  7. It already DOES apply to us, it is just that they have not enforced it as enforcing it is more trouble than it is worth. They often tell people with no local income they do not need to register for Thai tax and maybe if you are not eligible to pay that is the case in law, but of you are eligible to pay you must register. Likely it will be that we are required to register and then prove no eligibility.
  8. 180 days is the law with no exemption in law for tourist but historically this has not been a priority.
  9. In a worst case scenario we may be required to prove that we have paid tax in our home country - I am non tax resident in my home country.
  10. If you are here more than 180 days you are eligible for tax and should file - historically the authorities have not enforced this and there was the loophole of not transferring in the year earned. With the linking of databases it might be that anyone who is here more than 180 days must file.
  11. Involuntarily if they introduce a requirement of "All Thai taxes paid" as a way of making retirement extensions less "easy". They already link to the Revenue Department database for checking tax status with non B for work apparently.
  12. So where are the 12 Thais supporting these 3 work permits?
  13. More fish species than the Amazon. Most Mammals have been eaten already.
  14. This obsession with TM30 for people on 1 year extensions who have a stable address and 800k in the bank does not address the problem as stated by themselves. Were the Iranian Bombers and Erawan bombers on retirement extensions or VE/VoA?. What about tourists in an unregistered AirBnB? Meanwhile MILLIONS of people come on VE/VoA and stay/overstay - many in an unregistered property - what have they done about that? Oh yes, they made a cute video asking property owners to register. Clearly people on extensions are the easy enforcement - don't even have to leave the office. If someone can't produce a TM30 it is their Landlord they should take it up with, not make it our problem by refusing to extend. Apparently TM30 as a requirement is not enforced for priority WP/visa at Chamchuri Square.
  15. Old one was working properly and understood by users.

  17. Just need to identify the owners of all those huge but empty restaurants with a 5ft terracotta fish outside.
  18. You mean they protect you from bad spirits, car crashes etc? How can that be determined at the time of the sale?
  19. I bet you still have to do a screenshot to get hard copy for in person Immigration business.
  20. Maybe if they stopped Chinese kidnapping gangs from leaving China?
  21. For a 3 month tourist visa. It was easier to get a visa for The Soviet Union at the height of the cold war. I would guess 3 months in N Korea is easier.
  22. Likewise. I can remember when Thailand was a free and easy place and Immigration were downright friendly. I will be leaving at some point. That realisation was like a pent up dam breaking. No more worrying about Thai Immigration's changes and tightenings. This is NOT a retirement destination. There is no peace of mind here with the shifting sands. just look at the angst on this board re 1 yer extensions. Those who say nonsense Thailand welcomes us and it is all straightforward and won't change, all I can tell you is that in my opinion at some point you will be forced out/made to pay a LOT. I have been here since 1995 when there were people who had been here for 20 years on back to back visas from Penang. I have seen and experienced the changes.
