'Big Joke' Absent From Duty Amid Online Gambling Case
mokwit replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I never said I used an agent, I said he punished those of us who weren't using an agent [ostensibly to crack down on the agent business, which continued regardless]. This is what I wrote: 'He introduced the requirement to keep 400k year 'round for retirement extension, changing the deal on retirement extension holders and punishing every retiree who WASN'T using an agent and seemingly forcing some to leave'. Please explain to AN how I am 'complaining that Big Joke made it so difficult for retirees, that retirees had to use an agent or were punished for it'. AGAIN, READ THE POST BEFORE COMMENTING. His measures taken at face value were an utter failure, penalising those who did the extension themselves while leaving the agent route unaffected. AN UTTER FAILURE of the stated intention. I had let things drop but now you have started it again. -
What do the Tourist Police actually do? It seems something of a mystery. Apparently they used to get your money back from upstairs bars in Patpong if you reported it to them.

'Big Joke' Absent From Duty Amid Online Gambling Case

Here's a possibility: When Indonesia revamped it's immigration law it specified the rent paid/property value the applicant must live in and also the number of people you must employ amongst other requirements. Malaysia has specified it only wants people who will make a significant contribution to Malaysia. SO: All you wishing for tighter requirements to keep out the people you see as riff raff might end up having to build a new house/move condo and explain to the IO just what your contribution to Thailand is at extension time. You can explain how the Thai economy will implode if you withhold your golf club dues like you do on AN, but they might be cynical or looking for something more than that. -

Very presumptive and a WRONG assumption. Done the extension myself with 800k year-around for years. I could meet the financial requirements of OX or BOI LTR if I wanted. I don't want any tightening because I don't want to submit more documents whose dates have to line up or at worst be required to supply something that can't be obtained from my embassy/my country e.g. "proof of origin of funds certified by Embassy". AMLO type origin of funds proving could be on the agenda. The requirements for proof are unlikely to be anything but very precise and very pedantically enforced. Who knows what kind of curve ball they will throw at us - they might decide the best way to ensure "quality" applicants is to require a Masters degree (as per one BOI visa type). The generation in their fifties didn't do Masters degrees it came with the debasement of education. SO: how many "good" falangs would be able to meet that requirement? They might have to uproot. All you people wishing for tighter visa requirements, be careful what you wish for , they might throw a curve ball that bites YOU on the @ss. All of those who said if you can't afford 400k year-around you can't afford to retire here, I say to you if you can't afford to be double taxed you can't afford to retire here. How does that feel?. Too many people on here gloating from an incorrect presumption of their own extension security. -

Hopefully he didn't get around to submitting that memo on tightening up "too easy" retirement extensions.- 67 replies

Anyone defaming deputy national police chief will be sued – lawyer

"every" message? - or are you wrong again? Let's face it the tone of your original post replying to mine was not exactly respectful disagreement/correction, was it? - your post had a real attitude and that is why I replied as I did. If you adopt a certain tone with people you get it back. Most of us learn that in the school playground. I have no issue with people respectfully/politely pointing out I am wrong if I am. Note; in this case you were wrong and I was right though. -

'In fact, TM30 requirements have been made easier - you no longer need to report a change of address each and every time you move.' Please explain how you can move without the need to file a new TM30? It exists specifically to register arrival at an address or a change of address. Perhaps this is poor English on your part and you don't mean move as in move house i.e. change address? Were you perhaps referring to them dropping the need to file a TM28 if you were out of your province for more than 24 hours or were you somehow referring to there being no need to file a new TM30 when returning from abroad to the same address if you left on a Non Immigrant visa extension with a re entry permit? I admit I am a trifle confused (by what you have written). -

Learn to read before commenting on what people have written. 'He introduced the requirement to keep 400k year 'round for retirement extension, changing the deal on retirement extension holders and punishing every retiree who WASN'T using an agent and seemingly forcing some to leave.' 400k year 'round for retirement extension AS I MENTIONED IN MY POST. Silly nit picking point. Yes, TM30 is in the 1979 act but it seems it hadn't been enforced since then because it was regarded as unnecessary. He ENFORCED it. SO: He inflicted the TM30 on us. Let's hope for the sake of some AN members that an IQ test isn't amongst BJ's proposals for extensions. -

He introduced the requirement to keep 400k year 'round for retirement extension, changing the deal on retirement extension holders and punishing every retiree who WASN'T using an agent and seemingly forcing some to leave. He also inflicted the TM30 on us, but I am sure you will say both are a good idea and you have no problem with either as a "good" farang. He also stated that he will submit a recommendation for the "too easy" retirement extension to be tightened up, but i am sure you will say that is good because it will keep the riff raff out, leaving just the "good" farangs. -

Might not be deputy national police chief for much longer (let's hope). -
Just seen the clip - BJ is not wearing a mask so that could be it.

Surely gathering all the documents and furnishing proofs with all the dates lining up with your extension is a small price to pay for keeping the riff raff from getting one year extensions? People here have been calling for tighter visa requirements to keep the riff raf out and it seems their wish has been granted.

It will have to be in a form that front desk staff can understand. How did they handle health insurance? Seems you had to have some declaration from your insurance company that they likely wouldn't provide, so alternatively you could buy the Thai insurance. They will probably ask for the amounts and sources to be certified by your embassy or some other body who will say we are not in the business of certifying that.
