  1. This seems to elude them. They let in 39m at peak - how many countries with a population that size don't have a material number of criminals?
  2. That's true, but it seems they are working on it.
  3. I'm sure the crime can be cracked down on by making 1 year extensions harder to get.
  4. Not fining the owners who didn't file then? Not even going after them, pushing the responsibility onto us. Nice 'n' easy.
  5. You'd think they wanted secure access to the Indian Ocean for their warships or something.
  6. China is practicing colonial expansion via it's economic colonialism. In fairness they are only just getting started so it will take a while to catch up, bases S China Seas islands, aircraft carrier sized wharves in Island nations, even Chinese troops in some African country if I remember rightly.
  7. So what has all that got to o with the reality of OBOR for countries who are finding China not to be the friend they pretended to be? As for your projecting what is in you head outwards by boxing and labeling me as a MSM sound bite believer, you have no clue. You come across as one of those bitter third rate academics the Chinese cultivate by pretending to "recognise" their work and inviting them to China for a dinner in their honour. What does it cost them, a cheap dinner and a few bottles of Moutai and the person becomes their bitch.
  8. We're so lucky to have Lou come on threads and set us all right.
  9. One Beneficiary, One Creditor - is that what you meant? It is for the benefit of China. I really hope for your sake you are a propagandist, the alternative is that you are very naive.
  10. Everything is set up so that they can pull the rug out from under you.
  11. it's often not your aircon that you have to worry about, it's the noise from your neighbours worn out unit.
  12. They've forgiven him for making them do aerobics before work then? In fairness he did it for the first day and then went to get changed in an office with an en suite shower.
  13. The problem is that there is also a risk that you pay premiums for years and then still have to pay out of pocket.
  14. We as foreigners live in Police State now.
  15. Friend who is wealthy retired and owns condo will only be coming for 30 days now as last time the TR application was such a hassle - required TM30 documents from him as far as I can tell. Meanwhile millions can come in on a VE/VoA and stay in an unregistered AirBnB. Thailand is just no longer attractive enough a destination to put up with this. Before it was a free and easy place and that is what we liked about it.
  16. For 5m baht aren't they now comparable with countries that offer citizenship/residency/passport rather than a revokeable 5 year at a time renewable visa?
  17. As I said on another thread, they are obviously seeking t attract "quality" criminals.
  18. Obviously aiming to attract "quality" criminals.
  19. Isn't there 800k in the bank on the day of the extension as per the law?
  20. Isn't there 800k in the bank on the day of the extension as per the law?
  21. It's like a swarm of Chinese criminal locusts have descended upon Thailand. ...but making visas easier for them. In other news: visas likely to be made harder for retirees.
  22. Really, tighten why and why these countries? I presume you are not a citizen of any of the above so perhaps you can tell us which country you are from and what visa/extension type you are on and why no tightening is necessary in your case.
  23. This. If TM30 were really that important wouldn't they be out there going through condo and apartment buildings looking for Landlords not filing TM30? A material number of people are coming in on VE/VoA and staying in AirBNB accommodation with the Landlord likely not filing TM30 in many cases, but they seemingly do nothing about this (Phuket in fairness did recently).. They make a visit to someone who has shown 800k in the bank and a lease though. I would guess a far greater percentage of crimes are committed by people coming in on VE/VoA than by people on retirement extensions. What visa were the Erawan Shrine bombers on? What visa were the Iranian bombers on? No TM30 filed by the landlord for the latter. My condo has people doing ST AirBnB lets - we don't know anything about these people staying here against the law and condo rules. I am far more uncomfortable with these people than someone who has put down a 2 month deposit.
