I’m not overly concerned (famous last words) about having to be medivacced from Koh Chang in case of an emergency. But I can understand someone with health problems would think otherwise. Like I said, I am fortunate not to have any serious health problems (yet).

The question about the 6 months a year in Cambodia was for several reasons. Maybe it’s easier to get a visa to live in Thailand for just 6 months, then go live somewhere else for 6 months and then come back again. My plan is to live on Koh Chang, and Cambodia is very close. Second reason is that Thailand is going to tax expat income, but I believe only if you stay there for more than 180 days.

Trump has made many promises, for instance to lower the price of groceries, to lower the price of energy, and I believe also to lower the price of health insurance. With his proposed tariffs, though, the prices of imported goods for consumers will go up and inflation will soar. But Trump will find someone/something to blame it on, it’s his M.O., and his faithful cult members will believe whatever cockamamie BS he will come up with to explain why things have gone sideways. Hopefully the less gullible Trump voters will finally wake up and realize the mistake they made by voting for this dums@ss.

I have very good health insurance here in The Netherlands, but unfortunately I can not keep that when I move to Thailand.

PS: I don’t have any medical/health issues, not yet anyway. So maybe go without insurance and use government hospital when something does happen?

I pay about €200 (about 7,300 baht) a month here for health insurance, and quite a comprehensive one at that. I wish I could keep that insurance, but unfortunately that is not possible when I move to Thailand.

Do you know how/where I can find out if I qualify?

I’m going to retire at the end of next year, and will be moving to Thailand. I will be 67 years old then, and will get a pension of around 75,000 baht a month. I don’t have 800,000 baht for a retirement visa. Don’t have 500,000 baht for a DTV either. I do have a Thai girlfriend, and we will be living together, but we’re not going to get married. I would prefer to live in Thailand year round. But if necessary (i.e. easier visa-wise), I would consider living in Thailand for 6 months, and then in Cambodia for 6 months. What are my options?
