Time running out for GOP’s Trump alternatives

I know you're trying to attack the guy quoted, but you forgot that a certain D. Trump considers himself "mega rich"....although that's quite debatable these days. -
Time running out for GOP’s Trump alternatives
Berkshire replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I know people are worried about Trump returning as POTUS. I'm still not too worried. Reason is there's almost no way Trump can win over the majority of independents. MAGA may not care that Trump is an indicted felon, but independents do. Not to mention moderate Republicans....like this guy. [Leon Cooperman, the hedge fund billionaire who has famously clashed with Sen. Elizabeth Warren over her proposed wealth tax, is cautioning voters against returning Donald Trump to the White House.] [“It would be terrible for the country if Donald Trump were reelected,” Cooperman told CNN in a phone interview late last week. “He’s a divisive human being who belongs in jail.”] https://edition.cnn.com/2023/10/30/investing/leon-cooperman-trump-biden/index.html -
House GOP unveils $14.3 billion Israel aid package
Berkshire replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Another way to look at this is that defunding the IRS is foolish. More agents allow the IRS to go after tax cheats which would increase revenue substantially. Much more than the defunding itself. Not sure if you understand what it is the IRS does. -
After 9/11, it'd be foolish not to think Americans could be a target. The thing about these scumbag terrorists is that they almost never go after the people responsible, i.e., gov officials, the military, etc. They go after soft targets, which is pretty much anybody. One thing to consider is that in the deep dark web, there are all sorts of stories and posts that are sympathetic to Hamas. Just like how the right wing in the US only reads right wing news, these people are getting their brains cooked with all manner of anti-Israel (and anti-US by extension) propaganda. No wonder there is so much hatred out there right now for Israel and Jews. Unfortunately, I can see it getting much, much worse.

Are you even aware that the judge has ruled on this case, and that Trump is indeed guilty of fraud? From the article: [Judge Arthur Engoron has already ruled Trump and his family business committed fraud. Engoron is using this trial – focused on remaining claims of conspiracy, insurance fraud and falsifying business records – to decide on punishment.] As for your last sentence, let's say you embezzled money from your bank. And you took that money to go play the ponies and your horse actually won. Even if you put that money back, you're still guilty of embezzlement.

Not necessarily true. Most who voted for Jordan were basically "going along to get along." And some were simply fearful of right wing media and the MAGA crazies. But in a secret ballot, many more rejected Jordan...around 112 to be exact. https://www.npr.org/2023/10/20/1207328228/house-to-vote-for-a-3rd-time-on-jim-jordans-nomination-for-speaker

Defiant Trump turns up at $250m New York fraud trial to blast 'scam'
Berkshire replied to Social Media's topic in World News
This is why right wing media is turning on RFK. At first, they thought he'd be a threat to Biden. So they showered him with praises and compliments. None of it was ever genuine or even truthful. But now that he's a threat to Trump....well, they want to take back every nice thing they ever said about him. Of course, some in the ever gullible base actually believed them. -
House speakership up in air as resistance to Jim Jordan hardens
Berkshire replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Yeah, McHenry would be a reasonable option for the short term. For the longer term, Dems should consider getting behind Liz Cheney. She has the conservative credentials which should get some Rep support. She also hates Trump, which is something every Dem can get behind....555 -
Defiant Trump turns up at $250m New York fraud trial to blast 'scam'
Berkshire replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I saw that poll and couldn't help but shake my head. I've known Republicans who were reasonable and rational. But those who support Trump are largely detached from reality. They think Trump is more religious than Pence? Christ man, Trump is the LEAST religious President ever, including even Democrats. He's more pro-choice than any GOP President ever (Trump really doesn't care about abortion). He attacks the military non-stop, yet his supporters think he's pro-military (https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-stoops-low-comments-military-155650654.html)). And many think he won the 2020 election. Etc. etc. The only answer is a good portion of the GOP is a braindead cult. -
Republican hardliner Steve Scalise drops out of House speaker race
Berkshire replied to Social Media's topic in World News
The Dems should make a deal with a few moderate Republicans. They'd only need around 5 or 6. Then they can vote to make Hakeem Jeffries House Speaker. That would be freakin hilarious. -
Mary Trump asks why ‘f‑‑‑ing maniac’ uncle is allowed to ‘roam free’

That's a complete lie. Yet, you still believe it. What the heck is wrong with these MAGA people? -

Promise? You'll be doing your country a favor by never voting again....555 -
For those who wants to get educated about what's happened--and Trump's role--this article is short and concise, to the point. Trump's 4-years as POTUS was a near complete failure when it comes to the Middle East. "Trump’s Overrated Peace Plan Helped Enable the Horrors in Israel and Gaza" [The Abraham Accords didn’t bring “the dawn of a new Middle East,” they completely ignored the Palestinians and let the Netanyahu government do almost anything it wanted. U.S. policy, especially the Trump administration’s, contributed to the unsustainable situation that made an outbreak of violence more likely.] [Claims that “Trump brought peace to the Middle East” are almost an inversion of reality.] [Trump’s son-in-law and White House adviser Jared Kushner put out a “peace plan” that mostly just proposed giving Israel what it wants and dismissing Palestinian concerns.] [Trump gave Israel things it wanted without getting anything in return...] [Trump’s foreign policy put the U.S. in a worse position. In 2018, he unilaterally broke the Iran nuclear deal, which the Pentagon and American intelligence said Iran was following, letting Iran out of nuclear restrictions in exchange for nothing...] [....accuse Biden of some responsibility for Hamas’ attack because Iran got $6 billion in unfrozen funds as part of the prisoner deal, but that doesn’t make sense. The money was Iranian, not American, and came from oil sales to South Korea authorized by Donald Trump.] [Elsewhere, the Trump administration backed the failed Saudi-led attempt to blockade Qatar, which did little besides pushing Qatar closer to Iran, and seemed driven more by an effort to line Jared Kushner’s pockets than advance any coherent American interest. Later, Trump’s chaotic, haphazard approach to Syria screwed over America’s Kurdish partners, embarrassingly yielded U.S. bases to Russia, and ended up improving Iran’s position.] https://www.thedailybeast.com/trumps-overrated-peace-plan-helped-enable-horrors-in-israel-gaza?ref=wrap

We're talking about the current situation. This is the beginning of major conflicts and instability in the Middle East. Probably the worst we've seen in decades. And just saying "it wouldn't have happened on my watch" does absolutely nothing.

As usual (and predictable), Trump opens his big mouth and offers absolutely nothing. Completely unhelpful. These are serious times that requires serious people. Trump should just shut the heck up and let people who know what they're doing confront this crisis.
