Slow Wise transfers
billd766 replied to ikke1959's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I make 37 transfers a year from my Wise borderless account to my BBK account and in 6 years it only went wrong once. I called Wise, and they tagged my account and I have had no problems since 2018. I know how long the transfer takes (the next bank working day) and I do NOT expect a response in seconds , and if there is a delay it is only 2 or 3 minutes. Forward planning is easy, simple and painless. When I confirm the transfer I know how much it will cost, how much I will get in thb, the forex rate and that rate will be frozen until the transaction has been completed. -

The Iranians have no need to sink a major US warship. All they need to do is to sink a support ship or a support tanker an the battle group will have no aviation fuel, ammunition or food other that what is on board on a daily usage basis. Putting an aircraft carrier group inside the Arab Gulf will effectively bottle it up, as the Straits of Hormuz is the only way in or out. Common sense 101.

Politics Thaksin Plays Power Card to Keep Paetongtarn in Place
billd766 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Do you really think that changes anything? I also have a Thai wife and my 20 year old Thai son is of voting age. I have no idea which way they vote nor would I try to influence them. By the same reasoning. they do not try to influence my vote in my home country. They are both big enough and old enough to make their own decisions on how they will vote without me. They know far more than I do about Thai politics. -

But it is easier to point the finger at Thaksin. -

Does it really matter that much to you? It makes no difference to me, or most farangs as we have no vote or voice in Thailand, and can do little to change any outcome in our home countries. -
Worst Joke Ever 2025
billd766 replied to warfie's topic in Jokes - Puzzles and Riddles - Make My Day!
My cat loves me and will come when I call her. However, after I have fed her, she totally ignores me. I think that she is suffering from selective hearing. -
What is so difficult to understand about the term "This is just my opinion"?

Thank you for asking. Actually I am not so much disabled, as old and my body cannot do what it used to do 20, 10 or even 6 years ago. I find it very hard to cut the grass and scrub now, and lifting things that are over 20kg is not easy any more. I use a stick when I walk though I can manage 20 metres without using the walking stick except for steps where I use it as a lever, and for balance. I can usually manage steps provided that there is a handrail, going up slopes is difficult and going down the same slope is a lot harder. Fortunately I live in rural Thailand and most of the Thais are very helpful if I get stuck. They hold open doors for me, and some even stop the traffic when I cross the road. Mostly as I get older I tend to adapt the things that I used to do to make it easier for me. Whilst I cab still drive, I only drive the pickup and only for a maximum of 15km. With motorbikes and scooters I have a balance problem.

I agree with you 100%. IMHO it has been going downhill since George sold it, and it has got worse with every change of owner. Again like you, it is only my opinion.

It may however, be part of a "turn a Nelson blind eye" policy. -
Transport Pink Line Sees 68% Drop in Ridership on First Day of Paid Service
billd766 replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
Minus of course the cost of the extra train cars and the running costs on the new section of the Pink line. Did you forget that bit? Paid for by the majority of Thai taxpayers who cannot actually use the Pink line, as they do not live in Bangkok. -

You can say it as many times as you like, but it still does NOT make it true or correct.
