I am old too at 81, but I am certainly not Grumpy, nor do I live in the past.

Good for them. They are doing something practical to help the local people in the village that they live.

Our UK State pensions Late in crediting our bank accounts
Mine gets paid directly into my Wise UK borderless account. I must have missed the bit about where it is paid directly into a Thai account. If I did, my apologies.

Foreign Teacher Crashes Car After Night Out, Berates Rescuers Despite Damage
And why are you posting information that is not correct, unless you personally know the teacher concerned. Don't you like being asked for the truth? If you have no idea why do you bother to post, or are you looking for your 15 minutes of fame ?

Our UK State pensions Late in crediting our bank accounts
If the payment due date is at the weekend or on a UK public holiday, my 3 pensions are always paid earlier. I don't think that I have ever been paid late yet.

Foreign Teacher Crashes Car After Night Out, Berates Rescuers Despite Damage
Does your crystal ball give the Thai lottery results as well? Ypu seem to say a lot about the driver, especially as the police have not released any information about him. Or are you just jumping to conclusions again?

Paramount and CBS Reach Eight-Figure Settlement with Trump, Agree to Editorial Changes
But Trump does not own the White House, the US taxpayer does. Mar-A-Lago however, is a different matter.

Can anyone recommend a sharpening stone....knives, general stuff
Uf Y sharpen outside tools like the garden shears, the sickle or the weed whacker blade, I usually use my angle grinder to get the nicks out and the finer bench grinder to finish them off. they don't need to be as sharp as the knives.

Can anyone recommend a sharpening stone....knives, general stuff
I bought mine from the local hardware shop, though I did go online to get a picture and a translation into Thai. I generally use olive oil (I have some handy) and give each knife and the cleaver about 50 stroke on each edge.

Outrage as Tourists Caught Urinating on Pattaya Beach
Do you really think that Indians are the only people on the beach at night? Public toilets would be available to everybody and NOT just the Indian people.

Outrage as Tourists Caught Urinating on Pattaya Beach
Perhaps the Pattaya city council should consider increasing the number of public toilets and keep some of them open 24/7/365. Just an idle thought.

The Constitutional Court Suspends Prime Minister Paetongtarn Over Leaked Audio Scandal
So doing better than some countries over Covid and congratulating the USA about the 4th of July are Prayuth's high points according to you. Yet committing an illegal military coup, stealing the entire country at gunpoint, tearing up and re-writing the legal constitution doesn't seem to matter, interfering with the proper election process which was ongoing doesn't seem to matter to you either. NEVER being punished for any of this does matter to me. Prayuth was a failure from the start and always has been. He didn' even get elected at a legal election, even though a political party, the UTN was created especially for him.

Submarine Saga: Phumtham Greenlights Thai Navy’s Chinese Sub Purchase
Of course if you have a problem with Thailand buying the submarine, (IMHO it is a waste of time and money), I suggest that you take it up with tha admirals who ordered it in the first place, all the Defence Ministers who dithered with it in the first place, and Prayuth under whose illegal coup government ordered it in the beginning. IMO, Phumtam signed it off instead of playing pass the parcel with it. However that is simply my opinion. YMMV.

Starmer’s Rebellion Problem: Cracks in Labour Could Deepen Fast
Rachel Reeves is a politician. Politicians must have thick skins or quit their job. If she was crying, especially in Parliament, because plan A doesn't/didn't work, then roll out plan B. If you don't have a plan B then you are in deep trouble, and a few tears won't help you out.

German conservative leader calls for European nuclear deterrent ‘independent’ from US
AFAIR the EU is protected by the independent UK, independent French and the independent US nuclear "umbrella". I certainly wouldn't trust the USA under Trump at the moment, and I am not sure how far I would trust the French either. If the EU were to get its own independent nuclear deterrent, which country or countries would control it or would it take a consensus to release it. By which time it would most probably be too late to be of any use.

Student Struck by Bus Driving Against Traffic on Bangkok Crossing
The last line should read, and the bus company fined 10 million baht. My apologies. I did proofread it, but I missed that bit.
-
Student Struck by Bus Driving Against Traffic on Bangkok Crossing
There is nothing wrong with the crossings. It is due to the many stupid drivers and the complete lack of enforcement and punishment. What should happen, but probably won't, is that the bus driver should be charged with multiple offences and jailed for a minimum of 10 years, lose his licence for life, be sacked from the bus company and the bus company fined 19 million baht.
