Many blame America for the current debacle, but IMO it was created by the British, with their support of the zionists. Had the British not run away in the face of zionist terrorism and abandoned the Palestinians the story may have been very different. For starters I understand the British were supportive of TransJordan. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jordan–United_Kingdom_relations During the Arab–Israeli War of 1948, Britain secretly favored a total Jordanian invasion of West Bank hoping to wipe out the possible creation of a Palestinian state led by Amin al-Husseini. The invasion was a success which and secured British influence within Transjordan.

Which is why the Egyptian president has opted to not let Gazans flee to the Sinai. He said in his speech that if he did, the resistance would move to the Sinai and israel would then be attacking Egypt. He has a valid point, unfortunately. He also said that israel could resettle non Hamas Gazans in the israeli Negev desert, but IMO that will never happen as israel wants Palestinians gone, not relocated but still in israel. Apparently there are about 3 million Palestinians in Jordan, so israel may find itself fighting on yet another front, as they are plenty riled about Gaza, just as in Algeria, India, Iraq, Indonesia etc. Seems to me that israelis may find themselves at risk in many parts of the world now. They may solve the "Gaza" problem, but have a much larger problem worldwide. Muslims are everywhere, and are not ignoring it.

Israel now probably fully supporting Ukraine

Is that in revenge because Russia wants a ceasefire in Gaza? I'm sure Putin is shaking in his boots now. -
Thai people are pretty friendly. Yes, most but not all. Food is good and not fattening. My doctor said their diet is the best in the world? Many eat American fast food like MacC(r*p) and KFC(r*p), so not necessarily good at all. Roadwork crews are not safety conscious. True, but there are few regulations to make them safety conscious and many are untrained/ unskilled imports from Burma or Cambodia. Do they know what a bulldozer is? Yes. Why don't they wear sunglasses? ???? I don't wear sunglasses- is it a big deal? Last one -please don't comment on this one it will upset me too much WTH is the story with how some of them treat man's best friend? If you don't want a comment don't ask the question. Many Thais get treated badly and treat animals the same way. I too was sickened by some of the things I saw.

Someone must be very bored.

Agree with that 100%. Gosh, this is getting to be a habit, LOL. They have a tough job putting up with arrogant farangs that treat them like <deleted> and working for a pittance. It's a wonder to me that they are not all spitting at farangs.

You don't get that I never had a REASON to complain. Never experienced such as you are talking about, but I treated them with respect.

Good to see a president acknowledge that staying in Afghanistan after destroying the taliban and the entire war in Iraq were mistakes, but has that lesson been learned as the Middle East edges closer to war with israel?

House speakership up in air as resistance to Jim Jordan hardens
thaibeachlovers replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I'll have to accept that you may know more about the speaker position than I, but seems strange then that the position has always, to my knowledge, been occupied by a sitting member of the house, and if it is possible why is it not being considered now? Regardless, cheney would never be acceptable to many in the GOP, so not even worth considering. -

When faced with the choice between two appalling people, one tries to pick the less appalling one to support. -

Silly comment. 1/ Trump would never be acceptable so just a stupid idea not worth commenting on. 2/ it may have been mentioned by an ignored poster, which means I never saw it, and anyway I don't have all day to read every post on this forum, unlike some. -
Could an Israeli ground invasion of Gaza meet its aims?

Quite a lot of innocent children being slaughtered in Gaza, so does that mean you think the israelis are not sane? -

I'm on the side of the oppressed. I used to be on the side of the israelis but that was a very long time ago. I don't like bullies. -

The USA in recent years has distanced itself from Israel no longer pledging the unconditional support it once did. Biden obviously disagrees with you. Perhaps you missed his speeches in israel vowing unconditional support? The USA has given huge amounts of money to countries sworn to destroy Israel including Iran. Obama gave $900 million and Biden just pledged another $100 million. As I understand it that was Iranian money. Yes Clinton did try, but not hard enough. -
Could an Israeli ground invasion of Gaza meet its aims?

Of all the arguments saying that modern israel has a claim to that land, that is the most laughable. Over the past 2,000 years since the Jews were expelled from ancient israel, many areas of planet earth have changed hands. Only those with continuous ownership ( like the unfortunate Australian Aborigines ) have a valid claim on a piece of dirt. IMO modern Jews had no such right, and but for powerful men in western countries that were zionist by inclination, modern israel would not exist. Likely it would still be part of Jordan, and the rest of the planet would not have been disturbed by the perpetual conflict in that area. Perhaps the Soviets knew the trauma they were visiting on the western world when they abstained and allowed the UN to create israel. -

Given the amount of money they give to israel and the veto in the UN, if the US actually wanted to pressure israel they have all the tools they need to force israel to make peace. That they never have gives the lie to that idea. Now they don't even pretend to be even handed, and are all in for israel. -

Please explain huge pressure from the USA to "get along". I have no idea what you mean by that. What pressure? Do you realise that israel was created in an area already populated and they couldn't just get rid of them all in 1948, so were condemned to live in close proximity? -
Biden says he will not let Hamas and Putin win !

Ah the old "national security" BS. How many crimes have been excused under "national security" which is rarely explained? -

America has been supporting dictators for decades ( eg Saddam when he was an American ally ). Seems it's only dictators that are not backed by America that need to "pay a price". Isn't America broke? How come they can just keep paying out to other countries when there are so many problems at home? It's shennanigans like this from the W H that get people like Trump elected. IMO the greatest farce is claiming that israel needs billions more to defeat a few Hamas fighters armed with rifles and RPGs. Is the israeli army so weak it needs billions of US $ to win?- 94 replies

Could an Israeli ground invasion of Gaza meet its aims?
thaibeachlovers replied to Social Media's topic in The War in Israel
They will never defeat Hamas as it's an idea, not an army or a country. For every Palestinian they kill, probably a dozen more become Hamas supporters. They can kill every Gazan ( which is what they apparently want to do ), but Hamas will live on in every Arab country. Israel is headed, IMO, towards perpetual war, as thousands of boys grow up wanting revenge on israel. israel apparently hasn't learned in 30 years that repression doesn't create peace. If they think they can just kill every Palestinian, and have peace, they will fail, and they will never have peace. Jews claim they are God's chosen people, but if so, God apparently doesn't like the ones in israel very much, to surround them with those that hate them.
