  1. I expect that man will be relishing the opportunity to send the military into Gaza to destroy as much as possible. I heard him on tv saying they are going to target every corner of Gaza and the people should leave now, which I assume is code for "if you don't leave you'll likely get killed". Where he thinks they should go to was unsaid. If he does lay waste to Gaza, it doesn't bode well for the hostages held there.
  2. While I accept that people have different opinions of what makes a nice beach, I include what is behind the photographer. If it's concrete end to end, it's not a nice beach IMO. I've been on too many encroached beaches in LOS to be a fan of concrete. Hua Hin is the epitome of destroyed beach, if one has tried to walk along it at high tide. That's south of the city where the high rise buildings encroach below high tide, as no one is going to destroy the part where the palace is. I ended up only going to the north and north east of Phangan as it had the least developed beaches that were easily reached. I expect that even they have been ruined by now. However, none reach the level of horror that I experienced on Penang's beaches, but I didn't normally go to Penang anyway. First went in the 70s when there was minimal tourist development, and not again till about 2017, when it was paradise lost.
  3. That budget is junk, IMO. Visa agents do not cost monthly. They are only needed 4 times a year, and prices vary, food costs way more than that, Not everyone owns a m'bike, alcohol intake varies depending on the individual, don't need a phone. Not everyone lives in a condo, and I paid 5,000 a month for a room in Pattaya, 15,000 for an all included hotel room in Chiang Mai. My monthly cost not including insurance and visa deposit was average 30,000 baht.
  4. During that transition no one was saying the world would end if they didn't replace horses.
  5. and in those 40 years governments did nothing to prepare. You are right in that I will probably never believe that climate change is caused by my car.
  6. Ah the brave new world strikes again making things worse, not better. Luckily my W7 machine works fine with a built in disk player. I think W10 plays disks as long as I use an external drive as the case is too slim for a disk drive.
  7. Thank you for the quick reply. I'm not good enough with computers to take the chance of just trying in case I make it worse, and it's not worth paying someone to do it.
  8. You are too amusing! How long do you think it will take to replace all the billions of diesel powered vehicles on the planet?
  9. So what? Nothing stays the same. Only the willfully blind think nothing changes. Any species that can't adapt will die.
  10. Thanks for that. I hope to never have to use W11, but does that work for W10 as well? W7 was the best IMO.
  11. Yes indeed. I despise MS for their desire to get even richer by forcing people to use a new operating system when old ones are perfectly OK. Then they put out garbage like W8. I use different computers for different tasks, This one is W7 and fine for stuff like the forum. I use a W10 one as it has an adequate photo editing facility. Not as good as Photoshop, but good enough for basic editing. However, I had to get my friendly computer guy to stop MS updating W10 every other day as the long waits while it updated were a pain in the ****.
  12. If people want to go cashless I couldn't care less. What I care about is the wet dream of authorities/ banks to make everyone cashless. I won't use shops that don't take real money, but how long before i have no choice is unknown.
  13. Yeah, I'm often having to wait while some idiot causes a hold up with their electronic device that doesn't work. Real money always works.
  14. I agree with everything except the last sentence, as I don't think Russians are superior, but there are more of them, so they will win, in the end, short of the west giving Ukraine nukes, IMO. The end was IMO obvious from the start, but some believe the western propaganda.
  15. When will Israel be held accountable for their violations of International law? Collective punishment and building illegal settlements on Palestinian land is illegal.
  16. Israeli military killed unarmed civilians and children in their last invasion of Gaza. As you say it is a war crime, but not one Israeli has been prosecuted for it. Even when they murdered an unarmed reporter no Israeli soldier has been charged. https://www.npr.org/2023/05/11/1175403626/palestinian-american-journalist-shireen-abu-akleh-was-killed-a-year-ago A year ago today, Palestinian American journalist Shireen Abu Akleh was killed while doing her job, reporting in the West Bank. ................................ A new report from the group says at least 20 journalists have been killed by Israeli military fire since 2001. And it says, quote, "to date, no one has been held accountable."
  17. Didn't he put harris in charge of the border? Why do we hear nothing from her on this subject?
  18. Errrr, the illegals have legs and have walked a long way to get to the border. I'm sure they can walk a bit further to get to "remote wilderness areas" as well. At the moment they don't have to as the Federal border agents are even cutting the razor wire to let them through ( as seen on Al Jazeera ).
  19. Sooooo, who was it that promised "not another foot of wall" during the election campaign? Perhaps he should have been more careful before telling lies.
  20. Massive support for the offensive in the west bank. The Israelis better hope they don't go on the attack as well. Israel is bombing residential areas of Gaza, as seen on Al Jazeera.
  21. I guess that you missed that Gaza has been under Israeli siege for years. Treat people badly for decades and eventually they will rebel.
  22. Yes, I saw on Al Jazeera the Israeli tanks burning and the crews being dragged away. Many Israelis are hostages. Cutting electricity to all of Gaza is collective punishment and is IMO illegal under international law, but Israel has been flouting that for decades with it's illegal occupation and land theft. I fully expect Israel to indiscriminately bomb Gaza with the usual toll of dead children and innocent citizens.
  23. They have no chance of winning. Israel may release Palestinian prisoners in exchange for the hostages, and the situation will continue till the next confrontation. The Gazan's have no where else to go, and even Israel can't go too far in revenge, I hope. I wonder if the UN back in 1947 knew what they were giving to the world, if they would still take Palestinian/ Jordanian land to give to the zionists?
  24. Perhaps they decided that going out with a bang is better than dying the death of a thousand cuts under the Israeli seige. Neil Young said it best "It's better to burn out than it is to rust"
  25. If the aggression actually happens, as it does, they can either whine about it or go kill Israelis. Which would you prefer?
