Do you believe in God and why
thaibeachlovers replied to ivor bigun's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I disagree. IMO imagination is the thing that separates us from just being hairless apes. Without imagination we'd never have seen the possibility to make our lives better, by imagining how to make fire, cook food, build a house, plough a field. None of us were born with that knowledge. Just inventing printing required imagination. -

Nature IS God, God IS nature. Did it all just happen by accident? To reiterate, I reject the god of religion and accept God the creator. Something created the universe, and that something is God. Just don't get hung up by organised religion. -

Is your imagination finite then? Mine isn't. -

So, if not for God, where did imagination come from? Do you believe that something can come from nothing? Before the universe existed, if you don't believe in God there was nothing, zero, nada. Soooo, explain how the universe emerged from nothing. Was it magic? Does science have an ability to make something come out of nothing, does it explain how it could happen? If there is no logical explanation as to how the universe came out of nothing, the only logical answer is that something unknown to science made it happen ie God. -

To be agnostic is to believe that a higher power is possible. I reject the personal God idea of religion, but I do believe in God, so I guess I'm not agnostic, but I used to be. -

Being atheist does not prevent one believing in intelligent design. IMO atheism is more about rejecting the religious aspect, than faith. I could be described as an atheist on that basis, as I reject religion. -

As you know, I believe that God is in everything ( everything is just electricity at it's core- it's just how the electrons etc are arranged to make things ), I just don't believe that God can be given human emotions. To God, I'm sure, everything is just as important as everything else ie a virus is as important as a human, so why would God be more considerate towards one part of creation over another? Why would a being that created black holes to destroy entire solar systems save an individual human being? Obviously God doesn't anyway, so the question is moot. Up to you. -
Ukraine war: Zelensky asks France and Germany for fighter jets

Seems some think Russia's MAD capability to be as illusory as a Russian general's competence. -

Quote any poster that has been saying renewables are "horrible"! I haven't seen any poster "anti climate" or anti renewables, though some of us point out that there are many problems with them, they are not yet able to replace oil/ coal based generation and that the biggest polluters are nowhere near to phasing out oil based generation. Also they will probably make electricity more expensive to the consumer. -

You are quite the war war guy! Can we assume you are going to put yourself in the front line to kill Russians, or is it OK for other people to do the job, while you stay safe far, far away? -

IMO compassion was designed into humans else they'd kill everyone else. Imagine if no one had compassion- in a natural disaster no one would help the affected, so they'd all die. Nurses wouldn't work for the pittance they get paid, so no help in hospital, etc. So IMO compassion is the way to ensure humans survive. God doesn't need compassion to survive, so doesn't need to be compassionate. -

As God created the universe, God designed the science that makes the earth rotate, so the sun "comes up" in the morning. Wouldn't have worked very well if the planet was stationary and too hot on sunny side and too cold on dark side. I guess God does know everything. Could you make a solid ball and make it rotate endlessly without slowing down? What force is exerted to make the earth rotate endlessly, and at the same time rotate around the sun? What does science say? -

Compassion is a human quality, and God is not a human, ergo doesn't have human emotions. As pointed out billions of humans die horribly, and no compassionate God would allow that. I think God cares as much about us as we care about the mosquito we are spraying to kill it. -
Either he's been smoking something hallucinogenic, or been reading fantasy books about Thai bar girls. I "dated" a lot and never found any that would play that sort of game, and why should they, when they don't have to do anything to earn it. As for a sexy cutie, they were a rarity, though they did exist. IMO his best bet is to go on line where the best ones now lurk, and then he can stay anywhere. Have you ever been to the boxing ring collection of bar beers on Loi Kroh? The reality is hardly what you describe. I lived almost next door to know, and the description I give to it is "boring". C M is not the city to live in for what he is looking for- Bangkok is number 1 and Pattaya number 2. C M doesn't even deserve a number, IMO.

You are talking about the religious version of God, which IMO has no similarity to God, other than that God created the earth ( planet ) and the heavens ( universe ). Everyone needs something to believe in to get through the hard times, and the religious version of a "personal" God is as good as any. -

Perhaps because such things are of no interest to a being that can create the universe. Do you think God is a human being to care about us? -

Seems you bought into the religious version of God. The God I believe in isn't going to save anyone, as the point isn't how long they live, but the way they live when they are alive. If you still don't get it, think about black holes sucking in entire solar systems with all the life forms on the planets. It's part of "nature", and also, in nature a virus is as important as a human being. Only humans think we are special, but IMO to nature we are unimportant- just another species inhabiting the planet for a while. Be grateful that God isn't taking an interest in us. If God was, God would see what we are doing to the planet and to each other and likely send another asteroid to get rid of us, so a better species could emerge.
