  1. I fundamentally disagree. Have to go back a few years to when societies were more equal, but people were happier. Some people being really rich and loads of poor people does not make a happy society.
  2. IMO the answer is not ever more people- planet earth is being destroyed by too many. If we were able to build a rocket to go to the moon using slide rules, we can find a better way, if we want to- I suspect we don't really want to deal with it- so much easier just to breed more people. Just a thought, but if Japan doesn't want to let in more immigrants, send the old people to other countries with high unemployment to be looked after. More people are retiring and fewer people are paying into the social safety net. I suspect that Japan is very wealthy, but most of the wealth is in the hands of very few, as in most countries. Let's redistribute the wealth then. Problem solved.
  3. Perhaps it's a male thing. If you had had a daughter, would she have been treated as a superstar?
  4. I doubt anything is going to make Japanese women decide that popping out children equals a good life. They have emerged from a patriarchal society where they were subservient to husbands and IMO they ain't going back to it. I don't blame them in the slightest. As for having babies, if men had to carry them around for 9 months with morning sickness, stretch marks, etc IMO the human race would have died out long ago. If I were to wake up a fertile woman one day, no way would any man get to impregnate me- no sex without a certificate of vasectomy and a recent test. I've actually seen loads of women giving birth as part of my job, and nothing about it is worth it IMO.
  5. No problem really, just invent robots to look after the old people- problem solved. If I were a lot younger I'd probably have been interested in living there, but I started to learn about Japan and the culture too late in life, and anyway, it's just too expensive. Thailand is as close as I'll ever get to Japan.
  6. I have to disagree. Giving up would lead to Putin's demise, IMO, so he's not going to give up.
  7. Do think the Russians will not have taken that into account and prepared accordingly? It's not like the Russians don't have the means to destroy tanks, is it? They were probably unprepared for the resistance they got at the beginning, but the longer the war goes on the more lessons they learn and revise their tactics accordingly. It's never as simple as some on here think it is.
  8. They probably have a girlfriend. Not many bars to hang out in without the "girls".
  9. She looks amazing for 63. Either she has fantastic genes or not having children is a good idea. He looks pretty good too. One has to remember that the astronauts that went to the moon were the very best people, physically, that they could find. BTW she's been his girlfriend for a while, so not a sudden thing brought on by dementia or suchlike.
  10. LOL. It's always about D T judging by the number of threads he features in regardless of the thread topic.
  11. I missed that, but it's BS. Customers have never been unable to refuse "services".
  12. You must frequent dodgy bars then. I never saw a drunk bar girl in the bars I frequented. They don't have to drink alcohol just because a customer bought them a drink. That's on them.
  13. Other than immigration which I loathed, the Thai government never made a problem for me in any shape or form. They made it far easier for me to live in LOS than it would have been for a Thai to live in my home country. I 100% support their action against employing foreigners in jobs which Thais can do and 1 million % support them in not allowing foreigners to own land.
  14. USA the best country 55555555555555555555555555 I'm sure it's a wonderful place if have lotsacash, but not so good if poor. That's pretty universal. Don't learn conversational Thai and you don't have that sort of problem.
  15. IMO one has to upset someone to have a problem, except in places like Pattaya where money is to be made from farangs by the usual suspects. I not only rewired both family houses, but did the plumbing on all the family's rental houses. Obviously I didn't upset the locals though.
  16. The alternatives for unqualified females in LOS are mainly manual labour on ricefields, building sites, as a maid or in a sweat shop, none of which pay as much as lying on one's back with a guy doing the horizontal folk dancing.
  17. LOL. Given they can't be legally working in a bar till 18, if they had been sex workers for decades that would make them at least 38. The chances of any 38 year old getting customers when their co workers are in the twenties are somewhat slim, unless they can get their prospective customer so drunk they can't see. IMO the only alternative would be to become one of the sad creatures lurking in the shadows hoping to snare a desperate passerby. BTW, unmarried older bargirls have usually departed for the village or have become service, in which case they probably ain't sex workers any more.
  18. Good to see a post from someone that actually knows what they are talking about.
  19. Who writes this stuff? They must have been hanging out at some very dodgy bars. A BG that got that drunk at work would not remain employed very long in any decent bar.
  20. You must be talking about your own country. I didn't know a single bar girl that would have wanted that. By not being regulated etc the money they got from customers remained their own- no tax, and they were free to change bars, or go freelance if they wished. BTW, in the farang bar scene they were doing it by choice. It's the Thai sex scene that needs the intervention.
  21. If the bill is passed prostitutes will become liable to pay tax. Wonder if they will be happy at that? I suspect there will be a mass exodus from registered businesses to go on line where they can remain "unprotected" and wealthier.
  22. LOL. My original reply was "Why are you even talking about US soldiers? No one in America is talking about sending in US troops, to my knowledge." My comment stands as the thread topic is Ukraine, not some hypothetical scenario involving US troops elsewhere.
