  1. Must be longer IMO. Purachai stopped the nudity and the shows, and it took many years to get back, though it was never as good as before Thaksin's time as PM. BTW I hated those boots. They had gone by the time I left Thailand though- back to shoes.
  2. I never wanted to miss out on a night at Nana Plaza, though I started to go in morning ( for afternoon flight ) and they had cheap stays for 4 hours. That worked for me. Reminds me of the time I went to airport and they delayed the flight by several hours, so I took train back to town, stayed in Nana a while, and took a taxi back to airport. Unfortunately, the rain started at 6 pm and back in those days the roads would flood, so I left before any of the shows started. Talk about bad luck!
  3. Also, it's not required for the O is it? IMO only $ millionaires can afford to not be insured in Thailand. A mere broken bone in my hand cost me 50,000 baht in hospital, the cost of a heart attack, a stroke or a severe accident would be incredible. I was insured with a Thai company at 60,000 baht a year, to continue the cost would have risen substantially, so I let it lapse and used travel insurance instead. Even if I could afford to use the Thai insurance I am too old to be accepted now. When I left I had the 800,000 baht that I changed to home country money, but as the pension isn't enough on it's own, that is long gone. I could go back to LOS for a short holiday, but that would lead me to suffer financially here. Times are going to get harder- rents are going to go up, food is more expensive, Dr cost has risen, dentists are astronomically expensive. Sadly, the sensible thing to do is to save money now to survive later.
  4. I disagree. Those posters that seek to tarnish other posters with false accusations need to be exposed for what they are.
  5. Both of those regions have large numbers of people living in rural areas where tradition rules, and women are not well educated. I see no improvement in decreasing birth rates in my lifetime happening.
  6. if you don’t have a realistic idea of how to end this war in another way, that doesn’t do much good, does it? So what would be your solution to end this war, without giving in to Russia? Honest question. Honest answer:- Going back to before the invasion, negotiations with some loss of land to Russia might have saved all this death and destruction. That was my solution, but I have none to solve this situation. IMO this war will end when foreign countries end the arms supplies that keeps it going, and IMO that will happen this year as inflation and other economic hardship turns populations against spending billions to support Ukraine. History, especially that of Barbarossa, tells us that Russia will win, short of a new leader ( Gorbachev ended the Afghanistan war- they didn't actually lose IMO ) As far as escalation goes, IMO no sane person wants to escalate a war with a nuclear armed state.
  7. Agreed. Hydrogen avoids most of the problems created by battery cars. IMO batteries are the wrong path- hydrogen is the saviour if they could just put the investment in to develop it.
  8. I sympathize. Happened to me too many times.
  9. Didn't they just extend the time the coal fired power station will be in operation?
  10. At least you are right on one thing, the planet will end as a place where life exists when the sun runs out of fuel.
  11. Listening to the radio, the luvvies are well into the cover up of her deficiencies. LOL. The latest I just heard is that anyone criticizing her is a misogynist! She chose to be a politician so she gets criticized when she makes mistakes. If they want to be treated differently females shouldn't be politicians.
  12. I heard it was 2. Doesn't make any difference though, as the carbon footprint of her stunt sailing trip was larger than if she just flew.
  13. What you find credible or not is of no importance to me. Carry on.
  14. Doesn't really matter as it's only till they lose the election. National will win by a landslide IMO, as long as they don't do something really stupid before the elections. The love affair with Adhern/ Labour has been over for a while now.
  15. Someone by the name of Hitchens is being mooted. So noteworthy I don't know what he does. Problem for Labour is that she so dominated the news cycle that others didn't get much attention. Even during the covid lockdowns she took center stage and shut the health minister out. The problem with that is that while she got the kudos when things went well, she also gets the brickbats when it goes wrong, and it's been going very wrong recently.
  16. Just heard that discussed on the radio. They had an interview with someone from the UN and he pointed out that there are no vacancies that would be "suitable" for her. I guess that plan will have to wait a while. There was a news item on Al Jazeera about her resigning, so it's obviously international news.
  17. Ever heard of 3 waters? Ever heard of the methane tax?
  18. I can only guess you haven't spoken to any NZ farmers recently.
  19. Relating to NZ, what "democratic values"?
  20. Hopefully it will, when Labour is humiliated in the election. She was the only thing Labour had to attract voters IMO. They certainly can't stand on their record, which has been abysmal. Housing, 3 waters, methane tax, gun buy back, youth crime and more- the list of fails is extensive. In the opinion of many, it's National's election, unless they really stuff it up.
  21. Because she is the face of Labour, the party that has been in charge for some years now, joined at the hip to the greens, who seem more interested in stopping new hydro stations, than cleaning up the pollution. Listening to the radio, the luvvies are well into the cover up of her deficiencies. Seems she was loved more overseas than by the people she ruled, which IMO only goes to prove that it's easier to fool people that don't have to suffer under her policies. The news about her demise resignation spread like wildfire and everyone I spoke to was very happy about it.
  22. Can you tell me what a "climate change denier" is? Someone who denies that the Earch has a climate or that it changes? I've said as much many times before on this forum, but they keep on with the false claims that anyone who doesn't toe the line is a "denier".
  23. It was a major item on Al Jazeera news before she turned up. How much more do you want? It was a pointless protest anyway, as Germany needs energy and they cut themselves off from Russia with their actions. More people would be protesting if their houses are cold and they can't cook dinner. They were never going to win, so just another mob of the unemployable causing a disturbance, IMO.
  24. I never remembered our wedding anniversary, and my wife was pretty fanatical about such things- never forgot to remind me about "Mother day" etc. Perhaps that's why she became angry and horrible , LOL.
  25. In which country do they do so? Never heard of it , ever.
