C4 ( at least in my military days ) could be used to boil the kettle. Perhaps the soldier in question was trying to obtain some fuel for cooking. If one can't see from the VDO that the soldier has done the same before; perhaps many times, one isn't looking at the VDO properly. He knew exactly what he was doing.

I doubt that is a tank. Do you see a turret with a big gun barrel? I don't. IMO far more likely to be an infantry fighting vehicle of the BMP class. The soldiers were not inside the vehicle and were sitting on the top, which is how soldiers have traveled on armoured vehicles for almost as long as armoured vehicles have existed. If that many soldiers were "inside" the vehicle, it'd be a APC and definitely not a tank. Can't have been a very large mine as the vehicle is apparently still intact afterwards. Of course there is no way of telling what happened to the crew from such a short VDO.

It's not as though there wasn't all night opening back in the 90s. Worked well enough then.

I remember when Pattaya was open 24/7 and devoid of probems because of it. While many bars did close sometime early hours, between Marine disco and another nearby it was possible to party till after dawn, and there were always some drinkers in a bar on the way back to hotel. Couple of gogos in Nana in the 90s were open till after dawn. I never lasted till closing as needed some sleep before they opened about 6 pm ( or perhaps 8 pm- getting forgetful ). Those were happier days than in this century.

LOL. Have you even tried to walk along the beach at high tide? If that photo in the OP is actually of Hua Hin, you can see for yourself the encroachment at left side where the embankment does a right angle towards the sea. Hardly a small section of the beach. Only on the southern beach, and the bit where the palace is wasn't encroached when I was there. However, encroachment is illegal, far as I know, so how was it allowed?

I never met a Thai or a Filipina that was romantic. I did meet a Filipina with the sexiest legs I've ever seen. Her gams should have been immortalised in Madame Tussaud's. Does that make a difference?

I worked with many Filipina nurses, but the only Filipina I'd have married was a hooker in Cyprus. She was gorgeous, charming and spoke perfect English. Time wasn't right for a relationship so I passed on trying to see her again.

Those using wheelchairs and baby push chairs are virtually invisible in Pattaya, so I fail to understand your point. I never saw a Thai pushing a baby buggy unless they were with a farang husband. It's just not a Thai thing. As for wheelchairs, disabled Thais understand that Thai roads are not for them.

Oh, you have described my living environment ( in a western country ) to a t. Place is full of <deleted><deleted> committing antisocial acts day and night and narry an official to prevent it. Such may be the case in LOS too, but at least I enjoyed living there.

LOL. Many was the time I wished the traffic in Pattaya was jammed for days, as it might have made them ban private cars and tour buses on the roads- the curse of Pattaya. The roads were not built with the present traffic in mind- too many cars on roads that can't handle them, end of.

There were a thousand things I disliked about LOS, but there's no point complaining as it won't change anything, and living there was a million times better than any other country I've lived in. Posters have been complaining about the same things on this forum ever since I joined it, but it hasn't changed things in LOS an iota.

Agree 1,000,000 % Western country I live in has a gazillion laws and regulations, but has a massive crime problem and I feel less safe here due to violent people than I ever did in LOS.

No one is saying we should "like" selfish and dangerous behaviour, but it's not up to us to tell them how to live. We ain't colonialists, are we?
