Grace is the place. All speak excellent English and different dentists specialise in different skills so no need for a name.

I can only repeat the reaction my Thai wife had to such an idea- "are you crazy? Given that cheap resorts are everywhere, no need to be taking risks like that. Up to you, though.

Fair enough. At their age, I couldn't afford an overseas trip, but luckily the military solved that problem for me. I went to Thailand in the 70s, but didn't see anything to make me want to go back for then. It did get better a couple decades later though.

Only thing better about C M than Pattaya IMO was that the women were more attractive than in Pattaya, due in my opinion to Chinese genes. Most had very nice legs, which were fewer in Pattaya.

A movie ( the movie was not very good IMO- the book was way better ) that seems to have increased the exact thing that Richard despised. Maya Bay only became popular after the movie came out, leading to its destruction. I always wonder if the people that go because of the movie realise that the ethos of the movie is opposed in every way to their very existence?

Could be because it was just too expensive. -
Old rivermarket resturant by iron bridge

There was one other side of the road, but I don't think it was opposite. I ate there a few times. Near the Loi Kroh Rd intersection. -
I lived in Pattaya before they widened Beach Rd and I don't remember it flooding for the same amount of rain as it did flood after the widening. Even a "normal" ie not very heavy rainfall, made the road flood after the widening, so I'm going with "they didn't connect the drain holes to the pipes".

‘God save the King!’ Smiling Charles greets crowd at palace
thaibeachlovers replied to webfact's topic in World News
Exactly why I hope Charles abdicates in favour of William. IMO if he doesn't, it could lead to the end of the monarchy, given the desire evident in the past to get rid of it. William and Kate are, IMO, the means to save it. -

I hope you are wrong. He knows what it's like to wait too long, and I hope he doesn't want William to suffer the same way. -

First time I went out with the dogs, very shortly after arriving, I got frost nip on my nose. Troubled me for years after. We had down outer clothing ( like a sleeping bag with arms ) and wool long johns, with wool pants and pullover and balaclava, and if windy had windproof over everything. None of it was waterproof as it never rained- too cold for moisture in the air. We even had to humidify the air in the sleeping quarters. Too cold for BO as well. As all our water came from melting ice in a big ice melter, water was rationed for showers and only one every 5 days. Had to be rugged to live down there way back then. The new bases are more like hotels than bases beyond the edge of civilization, but I wouldn't have swapped for them. Most amazing experience I had in my entire life and I was very lucky to be chosen to go. To add something about God/ religion as it's a God thread, the Americans had a big base not far from us, and they had a chapel, so I went for a Sunday service there, and I was surprised at how "militarised" the service was. The base was maintained by the US Navy, so most of the congregation were servicemen. No lack of religious fervor among the US military. Not so much among the inhabitants of my base though. Just for going, I was mocked quite savagely, so anti religion has been with us for many decades. Agree about antifa. -
I grow a beard because I can't be bothered shaving. I don't care what women think about it, though I know they don't like them.

It was only cold outside, and we dressed for it. Inside it was a toasty 15 Celcius. Outside it was indeed a black and white world. White snow and black rock. When it got below -30 C it was cold and an unheated vehicle engine wouldn't start; above, I was used to it ( I used to go outside in a tracksuit above -30 C as long as it wasn't windy. Wind and cold will kill you quickly if not dressed properly ). Don't remember the lowest but below -40 C. We still had husky dogs then and they lived outside all year round. I loved the wolf howl they all did in unison. Best year of my life bar none. If I could live there I would. As an aside we had 2 women on base during the summer. They were like queens with fawning minions. I learned a lot about human psychology then, especially how men behave to women when females in short supply, and it's not showing men in a good light. Yes the world is full of hatred. So many antisocial men ( and women ) around that would beat me up for a perceived insult. IMO they are just lost souls and evil to boot. The sort that would become Brown shirts in prewar Germany. -
Not the US, but we have quite enough obese people here as well. Never mind covid, obesity is IMO going to be the biggest killer of western peoples in history, and yet, we ain't allowed to fat shame people.

I horrifically got sucked into a mob of sheep today. Wanted to go the mall to buy something only available there and found myself driving around the carpark waiting for someone to depart- must have taken 15 minutes minimum. I didn't realise how many flock to the mall on a rainy Saturday at lunch time. Then when I got into the mall, the terror really began as herds of obese people wobbled around blocking the passageways, carrying overpriced plates of fat back to tables to consume. The horror, the horror!

I lived in a similar situation for real in an Antarctic base for about 8 months, and believe me, some of those guys were lucky to make it out intact. The loathing between several of the men ( no women there thank the deity- that could have got real nasty ) and most of the men towards the so called leader was palpable. Dark thoughts? Dark going on black! -

I wish him well now he's got the job he's been training for all his life. I just hope the press stop savaging him at every opportunity. Having said that, if he waits a while then abdicates in favour of William ( preferably before they spend loads on new stationary and bank notes etc ), IMO that would be the right thing to do. IMO that would be the thing most likely to stave off calls for an end to the monarchy. -
Queen Elizabeth II, the UK's longest-serving monarch, has died

That photo's from the remake movie. I preferred the original, but no matter. It's a sad commentary on humanity that any group of humans in the same situation would likely degenerate in the same manner, and if a minority number of women were included the situation would likely degenerate even faster. While religion has many sins to answer for, it probably did keep humanity's worst impulses from dominating during the centuries before governmental authority was effective. BTW. Golding, who wrote the book the film is based on, wrote some amazing books. Well worth a read of. -

I read it, but It's all a storm in a teacup far as I'm concerned. I just don't understand why you would care though. This subforum is the "pub" ergo it's for "pub talk", which is not to be taken seriously ( though some topics on it may be serious ie this thread, though many of the thousands of replies were not serious ). Whenever I post anything on this forum, I bear in mind that whatever I write today will be forgotten tomorrow ( especially by me, given my age related forgetfulness ). It's certainly not worth jumping up and down about. As apparently you take it far more seriously than I, I apologise if my words offended you. Anyway, for reasons that I can't discuss ( as related to the rules on commenting on moderation ) I'll probably not bother about posting as much anymore. No doubt that will make certain persons on this forum happy, but life's too short ( certainly my remaining life ) to keep fighting a losing battle.
