Swedish Tourist in Pattaya Steals Motorcycles, Hits Several Cars
Bangkok Barry replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
So, what is the point? What is it in reference to when the photo has no connection with the report? A photo of something not connected to the report is just bizarre. 'Here's a photo that has nothing to do with the report. Enjoy.' -
I was going to write 'cue racist comments about Indians', but I was too late. Coming from the UK, I've encountered many, many Indians, the result of 1 - the UK colonizing their country and 2 - Idi Amins' expulsion of 50,000 Indian holders of British passports from Uganda in 1972. All that I've know were fine people. A customer of the record shop I managed, who I called Turbie and Turban Top. We went on holiday to Sweden and Finland together. I had an Indian lady boss in a later job, who invited me to dinner with her family. And I shared a house with an Indian family, them upstairs and me down. The only downside back then, late 60s ad early 70s was that, often, the daughters were out of bounds to us as those early arrivals did not encourage their daughters from mixing with us. Sad, as there were some beauties there. If those Indians who visit Thailand fall short of the standards I've experienced myself, then it is another example of Thailand attracting the bottom of the barrel, as with many of the Chinese that come here. Most Indians do not order a coke and five straws, the same as most Chinese do not attack the hotel buffet like vultures or let their kids s*** in the street.

British Man Allegedly Assaults Thai Village Manager
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Probably as it has no genuine relevance. People can pretend it has, some to make prejudiced or racial put-downs as so many on this site love to do, But it really hasn't. Thai media like to give lots of irrelevant information, even what a road accident victim was wearing, or the registration number of a vehicle involved in an accident. -
Looming Over Trump’s Conviction: Reversal by the '13th Juror'
Bangkok Barry replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I agree with all of this. And the same attitude extends to the people reported to have gathered throughout the UK at the weekend, with those on stage saying things such as the Covid virus was a bid to destroy mankind. They walk among us. They always have been there, but until social media and 24/7 news came along we had no idea they were there. That's frightening but now, at least, we know. It's a bit like those science fiction tv shows and movies where we've been infiltrated by an alien race. -
Young girl shares six-year abuse ordeal; Stepfather arrested
Bangkok Barry replied to george's topic in Thailand News
I's okay. I's loony day. Someone else wants an non-existent uncle jailed for 50 years. -
Most murders, and sexual assault of kids often by teachers, is committed by Thais. not Brits. Someone was murdered for 20 baht last week. Be careful out there.

Please explain what to do....
Bangkok Barry replied to thoengthaied's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
If you haven't used Windows for over a decade then perhaps you are not the best qualified to comment on it. During that 10 years I've had zero problems with it. In that time it's improved, same as any IT product. -
Wise problems
Bangkok Barry replied to superal's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I have done a Wise transfer from HSBC UK to Bangkok Bank on this Saturday morning, and the money arrived in 10 seconds, according to them. So, business as usual. For me at least. -
I've been to 35 countries and never found the build up a bill you might be unable to pay system. The nearest is Dubai, where I am asked when I order my first drink if I'll be ordering more, and if so they start a cc tab in their system. Otherwise I pay there and then. And this is about bars, not restaurants. Would you expect to be charged for each course as it came? Of course not. That's an entirely different environment. Some do get drunk in bars, some do lose track of what they are spending. Not so in restaurants. If staff can't be motivated or can't be bothered to collect money for drinks served then perhaps they are in the wrong business. Not taking money takes laziness to an extreme. I mean, it's so hard, isn't it.

Buddhist teacher kills neighbour over grass cutting noise
Bangkok Barry replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
In the past week in the land of smiles, among other incidents we've had the son of a family known to us attacked by a neighbour because smoke from stuff he was burning blew into the neighbour's garden, a teacher of Buddhism killing because of noise from cutting the grass, and another killed because he wouldn't give the killer 20 baht. Just saying. Absolutely anything can get you killed here. -

What the heck does that mean? Can you translate for us who speak 'old' English. -
Trump found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in World News
So, so many posts in this thread that have absolutely no relevance to his court conviction. -
Trump found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in World News
It isn't a case of being vindictive. It's repeated contempt of court and the legal process. He was already warned, I think, 10 times during the trial, and there are penalties for not recognising the authority of the court. -
Trump found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in World News
Sentencing is going to be very interesting. Trump has hardly endeared himself by accusing the judge of being corrupt, calling his trial rigged and a witch hunt, refusing to accept the verdict of the jury who agreed his guilt so quickly it caught everyone by surprise, continuing to refuse to acknowledge that he did anything wrong at all. No humility, no apology, only ranting against the American legal system and the judge that will sentence him. He just can't keep his ignorant mouth shut, and he is going to pay for that. -
Drunken Bar Brawl Leads to Scotsman Being Hit by Car in Pattaya
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
I have no idea what 'eat the headline' means. I read the headlines, and then I read what follows, and in this case what followed was a report that after leaving the bar one friend pushed the other and he fell into the road. It may have been in fun. We don't know as the witness doesn't say. But pushing a friend in jest isn't unusual, and in this case the injured man lost his balance, possibly helped by the fact he was drunk. There was a reported altercation at the bar, but that did not lead as the headline says to the victim being hit by a car in the street. They were two separate incidents involving quality tourists that Thailand is so skilled at attracting. -
Swedish Man Arrested at Phuket Airport for 113 Days of Overstay

Interesting that some on this thread say that, although he knowingly broke Thai law, they should just let him go. Says a lot about some of the readership. -

Thailand Considers VAT on Imported Goods Under 1,500 Baht
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
There is no difference. Just repeating exactly the same. When they originally posted the story I said we now had to be prepared for weeks of delay waiting for anything from overseas as we can be sure they won't employ more customs officials for the added checks and paperwork, and planning to get private businesses to use their resources to be unpaid tax collectors is a non-starter. The Post Office does that now, but they are part of the government. Another idea dreamed up by someone with the mind of a child, unable to think things through. -
Drunken Bar Brawl Leads to Scotsman Being Hit by Car in Pattaya
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Seems you are the one in denial. There was no brawl. His friend pushed him into the road. The night took a dramatic turn when witnesses reported seeing the friend push the Scotsman into the street, directly in the path of an oncoming car. Pushing someone is not a brawl. -
Trump found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in World News
It would be unusual in a case of this sort to result in a jail sentence. But the 34 crimes he has been accused of, and swiftly and unanimously found guilty of by the jury, included trying to influence the outcome of the election by falsifying facts. If that doesn't deserve a custodial sentence then I don't know what does. Add to this that he continues to deny any wrongdoing while claiming the trial was rigged and, even more seriously, accusing the judge of corruption, pushes him further and further towards a prison cell. even if only for a token period. But, even so, the constitution says it is perfectly okay for a convicted criminal to lead the country. Even if it means he has to run the country from a prison cell. I wonder how many foreign leaders would come to meet him there. -
Another way all this could have avoided , the fight out front that is From the video, after the pushing in the bar and bills paid up. White shirt who was acting very aggressive In the bar is standing out front alone. At this point he could have walked away, end of story. But instead he returned to inside bar continuing his aggression. So he asked for the fight with security for sure. Of course no excuse for the kick. But he asked for the fight. A jerk for sure. How and in what way does your post address what I wrote? Maybe you didn't understand that if drinks are paid for as they are delivered then there would have been no-one not paying and disputing the bill and asking for a fight. Somehow, you managed to miss the entire point of my post. I find that extraordinary.

Sexual assault in an international school
Bangkok Barry replied to pedro01's topic in General Topics
Thailand is overcrowded with people who do jobs they are not qualified for. You think teachers come straight off the street into a teaching job, with no training? Is that what happens in your country? No, I thought not. Yet you are calling this parent insane for not being prepared to do exactly that. Most parents have a full-time job, so where do you think he'd find the time to also be a full-time teacher?
