But support to find a solution to stop fighting is what Trump wants to give - this is something that nobody has seriously offered yet - after 3 years help is needed. It seems that Trump is talking to the Russians first to try to formulate an agreement that both sides might at least consider and then let the Ukrainians take a look at it. This is better than no peace effort at all. If Ukraine (or Putin) is not happy enough, then they won't agree. Few details have been released, probably because this process has only just started. But what is there to lose that is not at risk already??
