  1. From 4 October the accepted vaccinations are expanded as below. See also (https://www.gov.uk/guidance/red-amber-and-green-list-rules-for-entering-england) Thailand remains off the list. Travel from the rest of the world if you are fully vaccinated From 4am Monday 4 October, if you have been fully vaccinated for at least 14 days: under an approved vaccination program in the UK, Europe, US or UK vaccine programme overseas with a full course of the Oxford/AstraZeneca, Pfizer BioNTech, Moderna or Janssen vaccines from a relevant public health body in Australia, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Bahrain, Brunei, Canada, Dominica, Israel, Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, New Zealand, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea or Taiwan – mixing between two-dose vaccines (Oxford/AstraZeneca, Pfizer BioNTech, Moderna) in this list is also recognised under a formally approved COVID-19 vaccine clinical trial in the US, Canada and Australia and have a proof of participation (digital or paper-based) from a public health body
  2. Indeed. But the purpose of my post was in response to the topic of this thread.
  3. Here are the updated requirements for vaccination to enter the UK (England); Travel from the rest of the world if you are fully vaccinated From 4am Monday 4 October, if you have been fully vaccinated for at least 14 days: under an approved vaccination program in the UK, Europe, US or UK vaccine programme overseas with a full course of the Oxford/AstraZeneca, Pfizer BioNTech, Moderna or Janssen vaccines from a relevant public health body in Australia, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Bahrain, Brunei, Canada, Dominica, Israel, Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, New Zealand, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea or Taiwan – mixing between two-dose vaccines (Oxford/AstraZeneca, Pfizer BioNTech, Moderna) in this list is also recognised under a formally approved COVID-19 vaccine clinical trial in the US, Canada and Australia and have a proof of participation (digital or paper-based) from a public health body You must: book and pay for a day 2 COVID-19 test – to be taken after arrival in England complete your passenger locator form – any time in the 48 hours before you arrive in England take a COVID-19 test on or before day 2 after you arrive in England You do not need to: take a pre-departure test take a day 8 COVID-19 test quarantine at home or in the place you are staying for 10 days after you arrive in England You must be able to prove that you have been fully vaccinated (plus 14 days) with a document (digital or paper-based) from a national or state-level public health body that includes, as a minimum: forename and surname(s) date of birth vaccine brand and manufacturer date of vaccination for every dose country or territory of vaccination and/or certificate issuer If your document from a public health body does not include all of these, you must follow the non-vaccinated rules. If not, you may be denied boarding. If you are fully vaccinated in the US, will also need to prove that you are a resident of the US. If you are fully vaccinated, but do not qualify under these fully vaccinated rules, you must follow the non-vaccinated rules.
  4. At this moment Thailand is on the red list so you need to pay for hotel quarantine on arrival. Details for England are here; https://www.gov.uk/guidance/red-amber-and-green-list-rules-for-entering-england Your vaccinations aren't recognised in the UK. The rules are changing today, so check for updates in the next few hours or so.
  5. It's a visa exempt entry, not visa on arrival. Yes, it is currently available. It's currently 45 days to compensate for the 15 night ASQ. There is no 6 month visa. What kind of extension do you intend to get?
  6. I think they are telling you they can't/wont transfer GBP to a GBP foreign currency account in Thailand. A regular bank can do that of course if that is what you want.
  7. That is because a Wise transfer is a domestic transfer as far as BKK Bank is concerned, not a transfer from a UK bank.
  8. The CHAPS fee Is £20. Not worth worrying about. Its the difference in rates you need to focus on.
  9. Assuming Nationwide will actually send GBP then the Bangkok Bank T/T rate today is 44.94, 1% worse than the WISE rate. There will also be some small charges to receive the transfer. I reckon you'll be about THB 12-15k worse off using Nationwide.
  10. 3. SCB SWIFT code is SICOTHBKXXX. Thai bank accounts do not have IBAN's. 4. The first 3 digits of your account number indicate the branch where the account is held (like a sort code does). WISE has a THB 2M limit so would need 3 transfers. How easy/costly it is to get the money out of HL you'll have to check with them. Whatever you do make sure you don't send THB from the UK.
  11. Guessing; 2. In other words, Match Points 3. Break Point
  12. Well the ones I've encountered certainly meet that description. Admittedly I am drawn to the right places.
  13. That is one of the most depressing statements I have read in years.
  14. Not yet, September 2022. Until then can be used as normal.
  15. 5 days ago the OP was applying for a tourist visa from the UK. Isn't 6 months needed on a passport to enter?
  16. You can get a single entry non-O visa based on marriage which gives you a 90 day entry. That can be extended in Thailand by 60 days to visit your wife. No financials required. There is no 1 year marriage visa. A 1 year extension of stay requires 400k in a Thai bank.
  17. A high value watch in Thailand is likely to be rather more expensive than the same thing in the UK in my experience, even with the difference in VAT rates. And don't forget you are in theory liable for import tax and VAT in the UK if the total of such items exceeds £390 in value. A THB 100,000 watch would cost you £489.18. If you declare it or not is of course up to you.
  18. For many years I was transferring monthly amounts in EUR to my KBank account. The difference between the published T/T exchange rate and what I received was typically between THB-800 and THB-1400 on amounts between 2000 and 6000. The % difference declined the higher the amount transferred so it appeared to be a fixed amount + a variable. I never bothered to investigate further.
  19. Suggestion. Read the articles before commenting about vaccination.
  20. Not so. If he can demonstrate that his return is intended to be permanent then he gets free NHS treatment from day one. I think in this chaps case that ought not be difficult.
  21. If you arrive in Dubai from Thailand you'll have to stay 10 days before heading for the UK. As UAE is on the amber list it's home quarantine unless vaccinated in the UK, US or EU in which case there's no quarantine on arrival.
